Saint Without a Halo Posted 5 December, 2009 Share Posted 5 December, 2009 Not offside today! Not even in the side! Away injured apparently!
St Landrew Posted 5 December, 2009 Author Share Posted 5 December, 2009 Is he injured, not even on the bench today? Just heard AP's comments on Radio Solent, and he touched on Papa getting a back injury during the Wycombe game, which put him out of the line-up today. Reckons he'll be back for the next match. Must be so, so nice for AP to allow his players to rest, after getting an injury, knowing the players coming in will serve the team well.
Saint Bri Posted 6 December, 2009 Share Posted 6 December, 2009 I actually don't think it's entirely his fault. I think he thinks quicker than a lot of our players. We get the ball in midfield and defence and pass it sideways out to the wings. If, when we picked the ball up in the middle of the park, played the ball quickly and straight over the top, he would have been onside and clear in on goal. I was watching him making runs, and the ball wasn't played to him early enough. This is a fair point. He's used to playing with players who are technically a lot better than what we have at the back, so he is going to be thinking 2-3 steps ahead at times. The thing abouts linos being a bit rubbish works against him as well and I've seen him get caught offside a fair few times when he was quite clearly on and his pace has just made him look offside. St Landrew Posted 6 December, 2009 Author Share Posted 6 December, 2009 I talked about Papa Waigo's offsides being so close that they'd probably be allowed in the Premiership. Did anyone see MOTD and the Wolves players during a free kick, against Bolton..? By my reckoning, that's at least a couple of goals we could put back on his tally. The9 Posted 7 December, 2009 Share Posted 7 December, 2009 Are you suggesting the officials get every decision spot on? No, I'm suggesting if you're that fast in relation to the defenders, as Waigo is, you can build a yard or two into your starting position to minimise the chance of the official making a bad call. The9 Posted 7 December, 2009 Share Posted 7 December, 2009 Waigo at least seems to have a trick, whereas Antonio is a kick it and run merchant..........who has not impressed me at all, no i wasn't at the Brizzle Rovers match where he scored (saw it on the box, looked like a miss kick which fooled the keeper and went in at the near post IMO) but he does look a good option to bring on with 15mins to go if we are trailing, if only for his long(ish) throw Doesn't sound like you've been to any of the matches in which Antonio has played, 28_F.
