NickG Posted 2 December, 2009 Share Posted 2 December, 2009 Yes it is. My wife said to me on Saturday "WHERE are you going"? Last night she said "WHO are you playing?" Last week it was " HARTLEPOOL, you're joking"? I daren't tell her we've got Walsall on Saturday! When I first met her I took her to Saints v Liverpool FA Cup semi-final at White Hart Lane, so she thinks Saints are a BIG club. Mind you, growing up in Sunderland she used to serve Bovril at Roker Park so she knows the gritty side of football. The sooner we get back to at least the CCC the better although I feel there is work to be done on that squad yet before we can regard ourselves as 2nd tier material. (There's the negative in me - I can't help it) one of the differences I have noticed is I don't know or care who we are about to play half the time. I work out of the area and often am asked who we have at the weekend, I say we are home but not sure! In premiership you would never not know who was coming up! hypochondriac Posted 2 December, 2009 Share Posted 2 December, 2009 You put this more eloquently than I could. We all support the Saints. We are all happy when we win. It's just all of us have different ways of expressing that support and happiness. One thing I am learning on this forum is there is no right or wrong and there has to be room for both the "happy clappies" and the "moaning minnies" to co-exist even though we both seem to get irked by each other's posts. I have had a good look at myself, Saints and things I say on here. I think I am too negative and from now on I shall try to stop over negative posts. That's my contribution. I accept the stats give pleasure to lots on here and they should be allowed to enjoy those stats. It would be great too if those people also appreciate there are quite a few who have the views of Chapel Charlie and who prefer to post notes of caution in order we don't get too carried away with ourselves. As for the Torquay game - would it have changed any views if the result had been decided on the flick of a coin? Thanks for that Duncan. Genuinely. Pancake Posted 3 December, 2009 Share Posted 3 December, 2009 Can I honestly say "sorry" for this, I didnt mean it to get so out of hand. Of course we won against Torquay, that wasnt the point; and I do think the list is correct in its present form. I was just being a pedant for the sake of it. I still think I'm right, the match was tied after the allotted time, so we won the tie on penalties, but it doesn't actually matter that much - lets just hope we can have this discussion again when we win the next tie... Amesbury Saint Posted 3 December, 2009 Share Posted 3 December, 2009 very pleased we are regularly winning. I did not enjoy seeing Saints lose against Man Utd, Arse etc. Dont really care who we are playing against as long as we are winning.

JibMcdo Posted 3 December, 2009 Share Posted 3 December, 2009 As a Torquay fan I find all this rather amusing. We drew that game 2-2 FFS, and you managed to get through on penalties. being taken to penalties by one of the countries most god sh1t teams was poor enough And as for that comment, at times on the night we looked like the League One side, you were "god sh1t" without Lallana. We've only lost 1 of 12 games ourselves, and we're "sh1t".

We are a much better team than you. We played awful in that game. I think we had difficulty getting up for a game against a lesser team.

Why would a Torquay fan post on here 120 times? I know some Skate weirdo's post on here but still......odd p.s I agree it was a draw. 2-2 is a draw
The9 Posted 4 December, 2009 Share Posted 4 December, 2009 The argument that we didn't beat Torquay is lame. Did we, or did we not get into the next round after that game? Yes we did is the answer, so we won the game. Cup games aren't always 90 minutes long. It doesn't matter that it took more than 90 minutes. We won, we progressed. If England get to the World Cup final next year and win on penalties, are you going to say we didn't win the World Cup? No, we won the penalties, we drew the game. It's really not difficult. Ask the bookies if they paid out on a Saints win, bearing in mind that they pay out on the 90 minutes score... and while I'm on the subject, it was Lambert's goal not Waigo's, even the ref said so. hughieslastminutegoal Posted 4 December, 2009 Share Posted 4 December, 2009 and Mr Bookmaker will make every rule and condition up he can to avoid paying out. That's his job, to make money. Did we, or did we not go through to the next round?! It's not a case of, ok then, it was a draw but we'll let Southamptom through I suppose cuz they scored more penalties. The game had to be decided that night, and we won that night. WE WON. If Federer wins in a tie break, he wins. If Tiger wins in a playoff, he wins. If an NFL team wins in overtime, they win. A win is a win is a win. If one team progresses while the other team doesn't, they win. That's how it is. What? It is exactly a case of ok then, it was a draw but we'll let Southamptom through I suppose cuz they scored more penalties. Like, that's what really happened, man, just put brackets around the "I suppose cuz" bit.
