Hatch Posted 1 December, 2009 Share Posted 1 December, 2009 The bloke behind the counter at our Local was always on his mobile phone to his mates, even when serving, so fck him. Got what he deserves.
the stain Posted 2 December, 2009 Share Posted 2 December, 2009 Company went into administration over a month ago. Only shops that are closing down (by no means all of them) are offering those kinds of deals.

the stain Posted 2 December, 2009 Share Posted 2 December, 2009 Aren't quite a few of them franchises? That's a massive bone* of contention at the moment as they have been dragged into it and (quite rightly imo) don't feel it to be their fault or problem. *I said 'massive bone'. moon monkey Posted 2 December, 2009 Share Posted 2 December, 2009 I work part time for Threshers and the company has been so badly managed for the last few years. Prices too high and shops that would be shut instantly if health and safety officers visited. Nearly all wine racks, threshers and locals nationwide are going or have gone. Locally only branches in Romsey, Winchester, Ringwood, St james Road, chandlers ford, alresford and lyndhurst are going to be taken over. The rest of them, grab what you can as they will all be closed by the 20th dec

TopGun Posted 3 December, 2009 Share Posted 3 December, 2009 The bloke behind the counter at our Local was always on his mobile phone to his mates, even when serving, so fck him. Got what he deserves. My Local was always massively overpriced anyway. And they were always up to conniving three for two pricing tricks that would end without notice etc. No surprise to see them go bust.

GenevaSaint Posted 3 December, 2009 Share Posted 3 December, 2009 The local in Thornill and woolston and the threshers in fair oak are holding clearance sales. Which is a real ****er as they had missed out on the first round of closures. Last one out of Woolston please turn out the light! Only three real shops left now, Superdrug, Boots and the Coop. The rest of the damn place is takeaways and charity shops.

But glad the one in St James Road will be taken over though I was fearful that one would close and leave me with an extra long walk onto the High Street and the ****e bargain booze offies down there. moon monkey Posted 8 December, 2009 Share Posted 8 December, 2009 Wickham vineyards has taken 14 branches in the Hants/Dorset area. The branches that are closing locally are Threshers in Fairoak and the Threshers in Stockbridge road, Winchester. They have a week left of trading (if anything is left). Branches in St James road, Alresford, Chandlers ford, Lyndhurst, Week, Winchester high street, Ringwood and Romsey are all going to Wickham but they are selling off old Thresher stock at 25% off. (It ain't that great a deal as its all expensive anyway)

(It ain't that great a deal as its all expensive anyway) It's a fairly decent deal on spirits, but it only really brings the wine down to the price they should've been selling at anyway. Some of the wines that Wickham have brought in to the Winchester branch are pretty tasty and it looks like they might be going for a slightly more sensible pricing policy. We'll have to wait and see. John Boy Saint Posted 12 December, 2009 Share Posted 12 December, 2009 The Chineham branch near Basingstoke was a jewel in the Threshers Crown, last 2 Days sale started Thurs shelves empty and shop shut before the deadline. Shame really the Staff were all nice, for many years run by an ardent Saints fan who could still watch the match at SMS until the final whistle and then get back into the shop by 6pm for the evening shift. saintkiptanui Posted 12 December, 2009 Share Posted 12 December, 2009 Threshers is a **** hole, every bottle of wine is 50% above normal prices, if you want a real bargain, wolf blass £4 at Morries, that is a proper steal.
