moonraker Posted 1 December, 2009 Posted 1 December, 2009 Cant see this anywhere else, last nights Sorry I Haven’t a Clue was from Chichester, with Jack Dee as the guest QM, he opened by stating that the Chichester area was the first landfall for Homo Sapiens in the British isles and that there was living evidence of them breeding with the indigenous neandertals, P****mouth being the best place to see evidence of this.
Kingsland Codger Posted 1 December, 2009 Posted 1 December, 2009 A classic! It caught me unawares and made me do the nose-trick with my whisky and soda.

Yes indeed! He always lays the boot into Portsmouth when he gets a chance. That's what you get from a salt of the earth Winchester lad (ie a bit of a snob). I think he's got the chairman gig on a perminant basis now.
JackFrost Posted 1 December, 2009 Posted 1 December, 2009 LOL that's a good one. Best one since http://www.politics.co.uk/news/party-politics/boris-portsmouth-full-of-drugs-and-obesity--$470231.htm
South Londoner Posted 1 December, 2009 Posted 1 December, 2009 I heard Jack Dee being interviewed on the Danny Baker show the other week and although he said that he had never been into football, if he had, coming from Winchester he would have been obliged to follow Southampton.
thesaint sfc Posted 2 December, 2009 Posted 2 December, 2009 I really don't find Jack Dee very funny at all.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 2 December, 2009 Posted 2 December, 2009 Can somebody please type the exact quote, as I'd like to add it to my list of 'favourite quotes' on facebook (all of which are about P*rtsmouth). Thanks in advance. Others include: Boris Johnson on Portsmouth "Here we are, in one of the most depressed towns in Southern England, a place that is arguably too full of drugs, obesity, underachievement and Labour MPs." "The necessity of living in the midst of the diabolical citizens of Portsmouth," wrote General James Wolfe in 1758, "is a real and unavoidable calamity. It is a doubt to me if there is such another collection of demons upon the whole earth." Sol Campbell - "And as for the trip to Morecambe, the facilities at Morecambe, they weren't actually that bad. I've seen worse... Remember, I used to be at Portsmouth - have you seen Fratton Park? Have you been to the training ground?"
moonraker Posted 2 December, 2009 Author Posted 2 December, 2009 Listen on i-player, it at the beginning
Nineteen Canteen Posted 2 December, 2009 Posted 2 December, 2009 I really don't find Jack Dee very funny at all. Really, read his autobography, unlike the last one you probably read it's a great read, insightful and very funny. The bit when he was working in the Ritz and had to help prepare Rex Harrison's, shall we say, complex breakfast requirements is brilliant.
