Window Cleaner Posted 30 November, 2009 Share Posted 30 November, 2009 I agree with Papa starting. He hasn't set the world alight, but he's got that unpredictability about his game - the oppo don't even know what he'll do next! Although being offside is usually an even money shot. Andy_Porter Posted 30 November, 2009 Share Posted 30 November, 2009 Only change from Saturday would be James in for Wotton. No point rushing Connolly back if he's fit, just stick him on the bench. We really need to win these next two games, think it will be two very close games though. Wycombe have hit a bit of form and Walsall don't lose much at home. Andy_Porter Posted 30 November, 2009 Share Posted 30 November, 2009 Why play james? Surely he needs to be sold on!? Covers more ground than Wotton, better range of passing and can take a decent corner. He's no way near as bad as some one here like to make out. For a holding midfielder he's got everything, not the best right back but he's still a decent utility player to call on.
kpturner Posted 30 November, 2009 Share Posted 30 November, 2009 ....and can take a decent corner. He often delivers a decent cross in open play, but I don't think we have any players in the squad who can deliver a decent corner consistently have we? Clifford Nelson Posted 30 November, 2009 Share Posted 30 November, 2009 Against Hartlepool Papa Waigo scored one and made one. In the last few games before that he got a few minutes per game and created several clear chances. That is what I saw, and I consider that to be real talent. Maybe the different talent of somebody who several italian Serie A and B clubs thought worth buying, and somebody who may, possibly, make it coming up from non-league, but without absolute certainty. Personally I feel that Antonio was found out after a couple of games, after which he hasn't produced much danger. Waigo should be a starter at all times. Hamilton Saint Posted 1 December, 2009 Share Posted 1 December, 2009 Just been looking at the fixture list and the table. There is a full slate of games tomorrow (Tuesday). If we win (likely, but you never know!) and Brighton fail to win (they're home to second-place Charlton); or if we win and either Orient (at home to fifteenth-place Gillingham) or Brentford (at home to third-place Colchester) lose, then we will be out of the bottom-four! I hope you followed that.

hutch Posted 1 December, 2009 Share Posted 1 December, 2009 Welcome to the dawn of the last day that Saints will be in the L1 relegation zone! SaintDonkey Posted 1 December, 2009 Share Posted 1 December, 2009 They forgot that we started at -10; or they haven't been following our recent form. Talking to a gooner cabbie on Friday he thought we were still in administration and heading towards another relegation! It really is amazing how much our salvation has been forgotten by the same national press who so reveled in our downfalll. Anyway back to tonight's game. I wouldn't rick Connolly - even if he is fit just stick him on the bench. In a 4-5-1 I think Waigo offers more of a threat than Connolly and I'd like to see James in the holding midfield role. So... Bart Murty Jaidi Trotman Harding James Hammond Scheiderlin Papa Lallana Lambert Bench: Forecast, Connolly/Paterson, Antonio, Thomas, Mills, Wotton, Gobern

Surely there aren't very many things you can do differently in a game of football? Pass or run, cut inside or go to the byline, cross or play it back, lay it off or shoot...it's mostly one thing or the other. But players usually settle into a certain pattern or technique. Not every shot or pass is done the same way. It can be a short or long pass, a curling or straight shot, etc. If he runs, does he feint then cut inside or does he try to turn his man ASAP? etc.
Shroppie Posted 1 December, 2009 Share Posted 1 December, 2009 (edited) Is Murty fit enough yet to play twice in four days? Wouldn't be surprised to see him rested and James or possibly Thomas in. Agree with 4-5-1 and Papa to start, Trotman for Perry if he's up for it. Been some average performances possibly linked to uncertainty about January. If he's not committed, Thomas instead.
