Lambert vs Beckford

Watching teh Leeds game atm got me thinking.

 

Who would you rather have in the red and white?

 

Id take Lambert all day long.

I'd rather have them both. But I think given how quickly Lambert has found his groove for Saints, I would say Lambert.

Agreed. Lambert is much more adept at playing as a lone striker though.

 

They would make for a superb partnership IMO.

Agreed, the only thing he lacks IMO is pace.

IMO there's a reason why other players like Lallana are scoring goals this season - and if we give a name to that, it would be Lambert. He has in himself become a more rounded team player under AP's guidance and so for that reason he gets my vote.

By my reckoning Lambert not only has 13 goals so far this season, but 9 assists as well.

no....but it would put their scoring ratio into a little bit more perspective

Amazing that a player can come in and make himself the complete centrepiece of our team in a matter of months. If he doesn't play it hurts the team so much, great player.

He has done. He missed one in the play-off semi final against Millwall last year.

that's the main thing for me - for a striker that scores so many goals, he's so unselfish.

 

if he doesn't score he's often laid on 2 goals for the other lads...just a terrific all-round centre forward. He really is too good for this league, it just seems all a bit easy for him at times.

Agreed. He is definitely the complete player. The only thing he lacks is pace. And close ball skills. But other than that he is definitely the complete player. Apart from his energy levels. But other than his lack of pace, close ball skills and energy levels, he is the complete player. Apart from his marking.

Lambert every time-Beckford is an effective goal scorer in the lower leagues but his all round game isn't a patch on Lamberts'.

 

Aside from goals & assists look at the number of balls he wins in the air & times that he holds the play up for others to arrive. then there's the quality of crosses & through balls. the way he takes the pressure off Lallana & the others around him......it is feeling good to be a Saint just now! :-)
