StuRomseySaint Posted 16 December, 2009 Share Posted 16 December, 2009 I'd like to ask you one question Stu. Do you enjoy missing out on a lot of excitement in football..? By my reckoning, you've missed a fair few goals, especially Saints ones, this season. Just an observation, but perhaps you may adjust your schedule from now on, as this Southampton team plays until the 93 minute at least. I was still downstairs drinking my beer when the first goal went in on Saturday, I was late down though, lost track of time and went down for a beer on 37 minutes. I don't know what time I left, the game was still on, but to be honest I was too smashed to notice the time... I think it was 3-0 at the time though. Village Saint Posted 16 December, 2009 Share Posted 16 December, 2009 You pay your £5 to behave as you see fit within the boundaries of the law, not to have what is and isn't acceptable dictated to you by somebody on the internet. It isn't about dictating to anyone. It is about these selfish people showing just a grain of consideration to everyone else.
BadgerBadger Posted 16 December, 2009 Share Posted 16 December, 2009 I'm happy to own up to leaving 10 mins before half time for a beer and then getting in 10 mins into the second half - it's my life and that's the way I like it. I can go 2 hours without lots of things but then I choose not too when I have a choice.
hughieslastminutegoal Posted 17 December, 2009 Share Posted 17 December, 2009 I generally take my seat on about 5 minutes into the game. I go down to the bar on 35 minutes ON THE DOT. I go back to my seat on about 50 minutes. Depending on the score, I got back to the pub anywhere between 70 and 90 minutes. I do this most games... apart from midweek games when sometimes I am back in my seat for the start of the second half as I am driving and not on the lash. Oh... and quite a few away games I don't even make it into the ground and stay in the pub. I pays my money, I makes my choices, if you don't like it then f*ck off. :-) What if you squeeze all the football you do watch into the first half of the season without going to the bar, then spend the whole of the second half of the season in the pub. You could then give me your season ticket for the last 11 or so games, and I can pass it on to the wife... It would cost you nothing ... oh but then I'd have to give the missus a lift in... so on second thoughts you can keep it.
saintjinksie Posted 17 December, 2009 Share Posted 17 December, 2009 Insightful You are welcome to disagree with me but at least state why? This thread is more about people ruining the match experience for others, rather than telling them what to do. i fail to see that standing up to let someone pass is ruining the game, especially as everyone is stood where i sit anyway. Perhaps you are short, as this rant has all the hallmarks of small man's syndrome

Perhaps you are short, as this rant has all the hallmarks of small man's syndrome When people leave you have to stand to let them past. That obstructs the view of the person behind and behind them and a domino effect starts and everyone has to stand for rows and rows backwards. Also not everyone is able to keep standing and sitting continuously, some people are old, frail etc and unable to move quickly to let people past and obstruct people behind for longer. I'm 6 foot 2 btw so hardly short. If anything this makes it worse because it means I have to stand to let people past as can't move my legs enough in the space. Do what I do and just point them towards the other end of the seats.
Saint_clark Posted 17 December, 2009 Share Posted 17 December, 2009 This is all a pointless debate - if the catering staff weren't so f*cking slow (it shouldn't take anymore than 15 seconds to pick up a kit kat and a bottle of water) then people wouldn't HAVE to leave earlier. I neverbother to buy food or drink because of the queues and I don't want to miss any of the football. I wonder how much money they lose because of this. But when several hundred people descend on the queues at the same time its pretty obvious people at the back of the queue will be waiting a bit longer than 15 seconds. The staff may be a bit slow but they are limited as to how many they can serve at the same time. That said it doesn't affect me as I don't leave early and I get my pie and tea before the game starts. Andy_Porter Posted 17 December, 2009 Share Posted 17 December, 2009 If they brought back the Carlsberg bottle bars in the Northam concourse they'd be able to reduce the queues a fair bit and make some more money. Strange decision to get rid of them.

forever a red and white Posted 17 December, 2009 Share Posted 17 December, 2009 its up to other people and some have to leave early. Each to their own. But Tuesday for exmaple really annoyed me. Many people lost patience, left early and probably would have booed and complained had we lost 2-1. They leave then here us score and run back up and celebrate, that was annoying, if its one goal in it and every chance of a goal why wouldn't you stay. But then who ever said fans were fickle.
