Arizona Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 How did the Bartoz get on? Dealt with everything pretty well. Only thing I could criticise him for would be coming for a corner and not getting it. Recovered quickly and managed to palm the ball away at the second attempt. Little he could do about either goal. The first was going well wide, then Hammond got something on if and it deflected in off the inside of the post.
alehouseboys Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 I'm fed up with this ****e excuse being wheeled out every time Saints fans can't be bothered to get behind their team. For details on how to make an atmosphere in a '****' stadium....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KehqWbdQwAk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBBPoyXEOhM&feature=PlayList&p=89649DB65BB8FB9F&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8N66jOVp6lc&feature=PlayList&p=89649DB65BB8FB9F&index=10 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a61dYJOczBI&feature=PlayList&p=89649DB65BB8FB9F&index=17 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHLWclMs_Pw Doesn't that look like fun? I'm glad you all agree. Now let's try it at Walsall. Not enough bouncing-up-and-down at football these days. Altogether now..."Knees up Mother Brown, knees up Mo........", nah, not quite the same is it?!

Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 I honestly think that bossed it after the first 15 mins, probably played at about 60% effort. Anyway, through to the next round, bring on someone like Hull at home so we can put them in their place.
brianoneils slidingtackle Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 Wouldnt it make more sense for Northampton to ground share with the Rugby club, at least they might get one good stadium out of it.

I would give a nut to have a sing song like that at a Saints game, it isn't going to happen though. Alternatively, I may move to Turkey and appropriate Fenerbahce as my team. Fun and games. Clifford Nelson Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 And yet our midfield were woeful? Scheiderlin is an enigma. I can see class and style but I can't see substance. Next game I am going to concentrate 100% on him. I struggle to see the class and style as well, and it's only because AP says that he's got it that I assume that it is there somewhere. He looks in stature as if he would have class, but as for action...What I see afore me is too often missed passes and uncertainty about what his role is. On the other hand I also see a slight improvement when he is allowed a more offensive role, and over the last few games I've also noticed a few successful tackles. I struggle badly with the idea that players who don't seem to have a lot of success on this level are likely to be a real influence higher up in the leagues. Class will out, as they say, and failure here will be failure there. I also think it is a myth that there is an awful lot of difference between L1 and CCC. Between the top of CCC and the bottom of L1, yes, but as for the rest it's not a lot in it.

Maybe not quite the continental European style of jumping up and down, but still very effective !

Clearly we just didn't have the vision of making a stand at Sixfields, with 9 rows, the epitamy of European football support on a bloody freezing afternoon in the glamour of Northampton. Players don't make the runs that you might get from a better class of player or make themselves available in the right place at the right time. I did hear a rumour that we bought him because they wanted to make money on him as he had potential. He started off brightly enough but stalled. It will be interesting to see if AP can get the best out of him.

My brother, also a Saints fan now lives in Northampton, and in his wisdom last year he paid for my American girlfriend (not well versed in English tradition.... I couldn't find any other excuse for going to the game) and I to attend a Northampton game as a home fan. It reminded me of attending games in the early 80s - everything just seemed really stark and a bit too "real." We were there in March when the Cobblers were struggling to avoid relegation and it was cold and miserable. Plaudits to those that attended yesterday - I heard Saints songs multiple times on the commentary. Onwards for a 'glamour' tie next round. I'd be happy with putting several past a club with an ex-Saints player or two.

Anyway many many people on this forum thought that Gillett was our best outfield player last season, they drooled over Saganowski as well. AP has had no time for either one of them, so I guess someone somewhere has got a dodgy opinion of what makes a "good player".Fortunately we got money from Wolves for Surman ,perhaps AP wouldn't have had much time for him either. I'm glad you all agree. Now let's try it at Walsall. I agree. I wish we could have a bit more of a european fan culture, going to games would be much more enjoyable, when i looked at our support yesterday far too many were content to sit there in complete silence, almost on the verge of falling asleep. I've been lucky enough to watch a lot of games abroad places like Red Star Belgrade, Fenebache, FK Sarajevo, Poznan, Hamburg, and their fans never use small attendances, boring game, no away fans, from stopping them making the best atmospheres i've experienced. Going over for Marseille v Real Madrid in a couple of weeks, always wanted to see the stade velodrome in full voice.
