St Landrew Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 (edited) Here please. Edited 28 November, 2009 by St Landrew
Saint_clark Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Who gave the penalty away? Not fussed about the performance of the defence to be honest, Perry isn't even third choice and Murty has just come back from injury.
Red Alert Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Meh. FA Cup. Win is a win and all that jazz. Least we are in the pot tomorrow.
S-Clarke Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Who gave the penalty away? Not fussed about the performance of the defence to be honest, Perry isn't even third choice and Murty has just come back from injury. hammond weird match from him....a goal, an OG and a penalty given away.
Ludwig Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Need to sort out our defence. Good to win, nonetheless.
Thedelldays Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 on well...we win..another win to the list (would swap all the cup wins for league wins though) yet again, conceed another couple of goals....needs sorting
Legod Third Coming Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 You don't get any extra points or a bye for a clean sheet. Winning is winning. Excellent result at a banana skin location. Good work lads, keep it up.
Yate Saint Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 In the hat which is good news. Shame about conceding but if we keep winning I don't really care.
WealdSaint Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Lets look forward to the 3rd round draw.
Psycrow Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Very unfortunate OG and shouldn't have been a penalty IMO. Ball to hand with hands down.
InvictaSaint Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 I despair at some people, I really do.
Thedelldays Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 I despair at some people, I really do. why..?
saint_stevo Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 why..? Disappointment is not allowed. Nor is a non happy-clappy attitude
Dannyboy_Saint Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Still scoring lots of goals and while that happens the defensive frailties can be somewhat overlooked but sooner or later these lapses will start costing us as it seems we need to score at least 2 goals to secure a point!
Johnny Shearer Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Woohoo - FA Cup seems so dragged out with Saints being in the first two rounds for the first time in years but heyho we're through. Will be looking out for number 46 tomorrow. Bet we get another league1/2 side!
rocknrollman no2 Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 We have won.Thats all that matters. I dont care if we let goals in,as long as we score more than they do. The Skates have lost and we have won. That makes a good weekend. COYRs.
saint_stevo Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Happy to win, concerned at inability to keep C.S's
Lazlo78 Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Very unfortunate OG and shouldn't have been a penalty IMO. Ball to hand with hands down. I totally agree. Hammonds hands were down and he was surprised because the opposition player didn't get the ball. Unless he had superhuman reactions there was no way he could have avoided the ball hitting his hand - and the hands were definitely not in an unnatural position. Soft, soft penalty that raises more concern about refs than about our defence to me...
Thedelldays Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Disappointment is not allowed. Nor is a non happy-clappy attitude to be in a position where we need to (in general) score 2 goals for a point is thought for concern..I i bet you pardew is concerned by this..not skipping round the May Pole
beatlesaint Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 An own goal and a penalty for a dodgy handball with the last kick of the game hardly constitute a fragile defence to be fair.
ericofarabia Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Last kick of the game peno deprives me of a 10 point haul in the Prediction League. Teach me to pay attention ... League away games 3-1 .... FA CUP games 3-2  If you want goals and entertainment then we are the team to watch
Micky Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 I'm a happy clappy - don't care how many we concede so long as we score more. A win, is a win is a win....
Saint_clark Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Disappointment is not allowed. Nor is a non happy-clappy attitude That is exactly it though - how can someone be DISAPPOINTED after winning?
InvictaSaint Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Disappointment is not allowed. Nor is a non happy-clappy attitude What, exactly, is there to be disappointed about, pray tell? Did we win? Did we? If you want me to start wailing and thrashing about because of an unfortunate own goal and a penalty - have you actually seen it?? - that was never a pen, then sorry, ain't gonna happen. I will look at my half full glass and look forward to round 3 whilst you or anybody else chooses to see the dark side of everything. There are some people in this world who are only happy when they have something - anything - to moan about or criticise. Unashamedly, I am not one of them.
SaintBobby Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Mirror image of the Rovers win in round 1. i want a glamour tie in round 3 and then to focus on the real business of the league and the JPT.

Am I being unrealistic again..?
bjk Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Watched the game and the scoreline flattered Northampton although it didn't look like Hammonds goal actually went in so we were a bit lucky with that but overall another good performance.
InvictaSaint Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 BTW, I don't know how some of you lot made it through the Chris Nicholl days; you musy have been in A and E every Saturday afternoon. That, or ringing Samaritans.
.comsaint Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Well - that's Saints in the hat for the 3rd round draw - and I can't ask anymore than that!
saint_stevo Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 whats that 12games no CS? That's my concern, i am thrilled at winning away from home and into the next round, just want to figure out why we seem to concede in almost every match
Roger Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 We wont up the level even more unless we stop conceding stupid goals. It isnt good enough and if we want to strive to be the best we have to say this isnt good enough. Its not negative its being winners and not also rans and pardew should give them a kick up the backside because they should have learnt from rovers away. On the positive, waigo did well again and scored and at least we still won. We must learn from this though.

Crispypie Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 I'm a happy clappy - don't care how many we concede so long as we score more. A win, is a win is a win.... I have to agree, I'd rather see an open, end to end, attacking game and win than a dreary closed 1-0 win.
corsacar saint Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 We score for fun, but have ended up making both FA Cup results alot closer than need be.
St Landrew Posted 28 November, 2009 Author Posted 28 November, 2009 clam down..no one wailing or thrashing ffs, dont say things that are not there.. everyone is happy we won (dont pretend they are not).. do you not think it is reasonable to be concerned at the amount of goals we conceed..? do you think pardew is concerned..? do you not want saints to be better every week..? Am I being unrealistic again..? No, you are quite correct TDD. But let's leave the details of how Saints could do better for an hour or two. All people want to do at present is to be pleased with the win.
AlfredKo Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Hammond is ****. He should not be our skipper. Jaidi is much more appropriate.
St Landrew Posted 28 November, 2009 Author Posted 28 November, 2009 Hammond is ****. He should not be our skipper. Jaidi is much more appropriate. I think Hammond is actually rather good.
.comsaint Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Sounded like a typical cup game to me. It's never easy in the cup. A win is a win! I am very happy tonight - just as I would have been if it had ended 5-6! Round 3 it is then.
ericofarabia Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Hammond is ****. He should not be our skipper. Jaidi is much more appropriate.:confused::confused: WTF
Psycrow Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Hammond is ****. He should not be our skipper. Jaidi is much more appropriate. Explain why you think this please?
Roger Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 I think morgan will be very good as he matures. If he can improve his shooting and add goals we have a seriously good player. I think hammond needs to do more.
kpturner Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 No away defeat since August 18 (that dire show at Swindon). Gotta be happy with that. Lack of clean sheets is a bit irritating but it seems a bit fickle to moan about that given our recent history.
bjk Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 Hammond is ****. He should not be our skipper. Jaidi is much more appropriate. Unbelievable,Some people ! Hammond has been a great signing.
rooney Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 What is a "happy clappy" ? Stanley Unwin describing the pleasure in clapping?
Saint_Ash Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 A few people here would be more concerned about the goals conceded other than the win when the game is all about winning. Hopefully Pards can see where the mistakes came from for the goals and sort it out but we didn't have a full strength team out. I'm not concerned about the goals conceded at all as we won and through to the next round. Win every game 3-2 and it would make for an excellent season!
Legod Third Coming Posted 28 November, 2009 Posted 28 November, 2009 to be in a position where we need to (in general) score 2 goals for a point is thought for concern..I i bet you pardew is concerned by this..not skipping round the May Pole We don't 'need' to score two to win games. This is the WAY the Manager plays! He had admitted it. He likes attacking football. He's not George Graham.
