Soccer Saturday .....Tiss

I caught a bit of Soccer Saturday. Apparently, MLT had criticised Heskey's inclusion in the England squad and someone rang in saying that Heskey was brilliant and better than a certain fat , lazy midfielder who spent all games strolling around the pitch and taking pot-shots from 30 yards.

Matt came back with "and happened to score a goal every other game".

Beat that Mr Heskey.

Germany 1 England 5

England 3 Russia 0

Croatia 1 England 4

Eh?? What are you trying to show here Trousers? The games Heskey played in that the team won with him not doing a lot??

To be honest, I'm not sure what I'm trying prove. It's just an observation that Heskey seems to always be involved in some of England's most impressive wins, regardless of whether he scores or not. Could be a factor or simply coincidence.

Probably best if I stop thinking too hard.

Aye, you are metaphoricalising a bit too much today :D

personally I think heskey's inclusion in the England team reduces the opposition to laughter so much they just can't play football anymore.

And if he ever does score (as in the germany 5-1 thrashing) and does that DJ thing that just puts them off even more!!

How a player like heskey could have more caps than MLT is one of the most baffling things in the world, but you could add loads to that list sadly, charlton palmer, the neville bros the list goes on and on an on

Back to the original point, on here "hesaid/she said" threads always end up like this, our relegation season i spoke to brett ormarod at lenght about the last game and he said a few anti redsnap and lowe things i was called every name under the sun, liar being the nicest, i think they are worth hearing and why personnel insults are hurled is beyond me

I think it would be fantastic news to be honest. Alan Shearer is a football icon figure and would not be joining us or anyone unless there was a pot of gold waiting for him to spend. He is like Dalgleish becoming player manager of Liverpool or Keegan on his first stint at Newcastle. If he is talking about the job then there must still be a take over simmering somewhere because no way would he be interested in it otherwise and neither would he be if it was a tinpot takeover that just meant ownership had changed and he was still strapped for cash.

Bottom line is that Shearer as manager would pack St Mary's.[/quote]

maybe for the first few games, yeh..........but once his managerial inadequacies (sp) started showing then the crowd would soon turn on him and turn their backs on SMS again..

Shearer is a Saints legend, and IMO all legends belong in the hearts and memories of those that followed them during their time of greatness. i don't want my memories of Shearer tarnished by an unsuccessful stint as manager..

(i know that might come across as negativity ,i.e. expecting him to fail, but i really can't see him being a success here if he was to be given the chance.)

but hey, what do i know!!

it is all just my humble opinion :)
