Hi All.

After reading a recent post on here myself and a few x team mates of Kevin's are organizing a charity golf day where all funds raised will go towards funding Kevin's care.

We have come up with what we think is a good idea. the idea is to raise as much money as possible.

Kevin Moore Golf Day

We are holding a golf day in support of a former Saints player from the 80’s and 90’s, Kevin Moore. Unfortunately at the relatively young age of 52, Kevin has been diagnosed with Frono-temporal dementia which is similar to the disease Alzheimer’s, the difference is that it attacks people at a younger age.

Kevin now needs round the clock care and the objective of the golf day is to raise funds to help support the family and the day care centre which Kevin attends, White House at Curdridge.

Kevin moved to Otterbourne in 1985 when he joined Saints from Oldham. He started his career at Grimsby, where his father had also been a professional player. During his time at Saints he played 185 games and scored 13 goals. He subsequently moved to Fulham where his playing career ended and he became stadium manager and manager of the training ground. He has continued to live in Otterbourne and after his professional career ended, he turned out o a number of occasions for his village side, Otterbourne FC.

Kevin’s time as a professional was before the big money era that today’s players enjoy. Consequently any support that can be given by fans in recognition of his service to Saints will be greatly appreciated by Mandy, his wife.

Kevin belongs to that rare breed of Saints players who have scored for the club at Wembley. He achieved this in the Zenith Data Cup Final of 1992, when we were beaten by Nottingham Forest.

Friday 9th April 2010, Meon Valley Marriot Hotel.

£100 per head (teams of 3) your 4 ball will be captained by a X player or celebrity.

Please note single players who are interested in entering please contact us as there may be enough to make up a team!

Good luck to you mate, hope it all goes through smoothly.

The Spirit of Southampton once again seems to be pulling together in the same direction, after years of completely the opposite.

I take it having Redkrap as your captain is the wooden spoon prize (even if it is Jnr rather than Snr !!) :o

That's a dangerous ****tail of MLT and Golf in the same fred ... tick tock tick tock ...sweepstake time :D

Did somebody mention golf?

Will check the calendar, would be great to try and help out, but would hav eto link it in with work as with flights etc way too far in the future right now to plan a social return.

Good luck with a very worthy cause.

Isn't Mark Dennis a half decent golfer and ex team-mate of Kev's? Would he be up for it?

Maybe try to get the whole ZDS team back together, that was such a fantastic day in so many of our lives, made special for me by that amzing leaping headed goal. Kevin Moore LEGEND.

Is there a vegetarian option?

A buttered roll, unless you are vegan then a roll. Not bad for a oner just a pity you have to play golf.

Get something set up on Justgiving.com and I'll donate an entrance fee.

ok i have just looked online. i will get the charity officialy registered and create a account for people who would like to donate. thanks for the advise, looks like a long winded joining process so bare with me.cheers!

It'll be worth it as people don't have to send cash or cheques and you won't need to acknowledge receipt and people have an option to donate anonymously and in all cases can use gift aid so increasing the funds you raise by the basic rate of income tax assuming all are UK tax payers. As you have a few months hopefully that will give you enough time and it's something there for future events as well.

Best of luck with it.

Make sure you read the small print as justgiving take a cut of all donations, although it's probably still worth it to get them to do the administration.

maybe the saints forum members would like to all donate a few quid a little like some of you guys done with the sponsor a player. then the forum could send the total to the kevin moore fund so we can make it clear that this amount? came from the members of the saints web forum??

You'll miss out on the gift aid assuming the set up and management costs for Justgiving are not prohibitive.

Most people have said pie, will have the date soon guys. have asked the guys on this forum if they would like to start a donation thread a bit like they did when you all sponsored a player!!

That way on the day someone from this site can hand a cheque over so its noted what the saints fans from here have donated!! just a idea but i havent heard anything back from mods.

right guys. for all of you who have emailed me, i have your details and will be in touch, the invites will be going out in the new year as we need to get the banking details finalised before hand.

once we have a bank account sorted we will know who you all make your cheques out to and we can get moving.

so if it goes quite between now and mid January don't think it has been canceled. in the mean time i will still be sorting things out.

any probs just pm me.

Cheers

Just an idea, but how about a charity team for the 2011 London Marathon to raise funds for Kevin??

The organisers provide 'Golden Bond' places for registered charities.

Would be happy to take part..have done London twice in the past - it's one hell of a good day.
