Matthew Le Tissier Posted 25 November, 2009 Posted 25 November, 2009 (edited) Hi All. After reading a recent post on here myself and a few x team mates of Kevin's are organizing a charity golf day where all funds raised will go towards funding Kevin's care. We have come up with what we think is a good idea. the idea is to raise as much money as possible. Kevin Moore Golf Day We are holding a golf day in support of a former Saints player from the 80’s and 90’s, Kevin Moore. Unfortunately at the relatively young age of 52, Kevin has been diagnosed with Frono-temporal dementia which is similar to the disease Alzheimer’s, the difference is that it attacks people at a younger age. Kevin now needs round the clock care and the objective of the golf day is to raise funds to help support the family and the day care centre which Kevin attends, White House at Curdridge. Kevin moved to Otterbourne in 1985 when he joined Saints from Oldham. He started his career at Grimsby, where his father had also been a professional player. During his time at Saints he played 185 games and scored 13 goals. He subsequently moved to Fulham where his playing career ended and he became stadium manager and manager of the training ground. He has continued to live in Otterbourne and after his professional career ended, he turned out o a number of occasions for his village side, Otterbourne FC. Kevin’s time as a professional was before the big money era that today’s players enjoy. Consequently any support that can be given by fans in recognition of his service to Saints will be greatly appreciated by Mandy, his wife. Kevin belongs to that rare breed of Saints players who have scored for the club at Wembley. He achieved this in the Zenith Data Cup Final of 1992, when we were beaten by Nottingham Forest. Friday 9th April 2010, Meon Valley Marriot Hotel. £100 per head (teams of 3) your 4 ball will be captained by a X player or celebrity. Please note single players who are interested in entering please contact us as there may be enough to make up a team! ________________________________________________________________________ 10.30am : Coffee and bacon on arrival. 12.00pm : 18 holes of golf at Meon Valley's 18 Hole Championship Course,Shot gun start. Stableford. 7.30 pm : 2 course evening dinner consisting of: Soup, Steak & Mushroom Pie, Chips and Vegetables (Vegetarian option available, please inform us if required on booking of the golf day) Followed by: A Charity Auction and Evening Entertainment 12.00am : Carriages _______________________________________________________________________________ Additional tickets for the evening are available, but limited so will be sold on a first come first served basis at £30.00 per head. We advise that you book in advance to save disappointment on the day. _____________________________________________________________________ We are also looking for People/Businesses to sponsor the trophies and prizes. This will include the following: 1. A quality trophy with your name or the company name on. 2. Your company logo/name advertised on one of the holes. 3. NorthamSteve Posted 25 November, 2009 Posted 25 November, 2009 Fair play to you, I'm **** at golf, and probably **** at caddying too. But, is there somewhere for donations?
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 25 November, 2009 Author Posted 25 November, 2009 there will be a donations pot there on the day! and cheques etc can be sent!!!
once_bitterne Posted 25 November, 2009 Posted 25 November, 2009 I didn't understand the target amount. £5,000.00, £5,000,000 or somewhere in between?
saint_stevo Posted 25 November, 2009 Posted 25 November, 2009 Quindell is gash If its at M.V then i would consider a comeback
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 25 November, 2009 Author Posted 25 November, 2009 just spoke to matt and he has called meon valley.
ericofarabia Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 Good luck to you mate, hope it all goes through smoothly. The Spirit of Southampton once again seems to be pulling together in the same direction, after years of completely the opposite. I take it having Redkrap as your captain is the wooden spoon prize (even if it is Jnr rather than Snr !!) That's a dangerous ****tail of MLT and Golf in the same fred ... tick tock tick tock ...sweepstake time
corky morris Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 You can put me down for 3 places! Just let me know where & when. Corky
Highfield Saint Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 I'd love to take part. Depending on amount etc may also be able to sponsor something. Do you want me to register my details somewhere?
dubai_phil Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 Did somebody mention golf? Will check the calendar, would be great to try and help out, but would hav eto link it in with work as with flights etc way too far in the future right now to plan a social return. Good luck with a very worthy cause.
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 26 November, 2009 Author Posted 26 November, 2009 yes guys just pm me your details and emails and soon as I have the letter and application form done I will get it sent out to you. shouldn't be long just picking a date now. the day will be at meon valley in late march early April! dune Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 Just imagine the damage you could do with a driver on Redknapp.
hamster Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 Isn't Mark Dennis a half decent golfer and ex team-mate of Kev's? Would he be up for it? Maybe try to get the whole ZDS team back together, that was such a fantastic day in so many of our lives, made special for me by that amzing leaping headed goal. Kevin Moore LEGEND.

Nineteen Canteen Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 Just imagine the damage you could do with a driver on Redknapp. Ah yes, the spirit of Southampton is alive and well.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 Is there a vegetarian option? A buttered roll, unless you are vegan then a roll. Not bad for a oner just a pity you have to play golf. Get something set up on Justgiving.com and I'll donate an entrance fee.
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 26 November, 2009 Author Posted 26 November, 2009 what is this? justgiving.com sounds like a good idea?
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 26 November, 2009 Author Posted 26 November, 2009 ok i have just looked online. i will get the charity officialy registered and create a account for people who would like to donate. thanks for the advise, looks like a long winded joining process so bare with me.cheers!
Nineteen Canteen Posted 27 November, 2009 Posted 27 November, 2009 ok i have just looked online. i will get the charity officialy registered and create a account for people who would like to donate. thanks for the advise, looks like a long winded joining process so bare with me.cheers! It'll be worth it as people don't have to send cash or cheques and you won't need to acknowledge receipt and people have an option to donate anonymously and in all cases can use gift aid so increasing the funds you raise by the basic rate of income tax assuming all are UK tax payers. As you have a few months hopefully that will give you enough time and it's something there for future events as well. Best of luck with it.

Make sure you read the small print as justgiving take a cut of all donations, although it's probably still worth it to get them to do the administration.
