Bailey Posted 25 November, 2009 Posted 25 November, 2009 (edited) 1. Which current player played his first 3 Premier League games with 3 different clubs? AND 2. When was the last time Saints were NOT in the relegation zone? Bare in mind we spent almost all of last season in the bottom 3! The first question was one of 'Tyler's Teasers' on the Sky Sports website, so I would imagine a few of you have already seen the answer to that one, but the second one is a genuine question! Answers on a postcard please. Edited 25 November, 2009 by Bailey
Arizona Posted 25 November, 2009 Posted 25 November, 2009 1. Kelvin? 2. After we beat Reading last year? I'm sure at some point under Portaloo we scraped out of the drop zone for a week.
sambosa75 Posted 25 November, 2009 Posted 25 November, 2009 The first could be Kelv. Maybe he played once for Wimbledon and Ipswich before playing in the Prem for Sunderland. I'd say after we beat Burley away last season.
Saintjersey Posted 25 November, 2009 Posted 25 November, 2009 The first could be Kelv. Maybe he played once for Wimbledon and Ipswich before playing in the Prem for Sunderland. I'd say after we beat Burley away last season. Didn't he leave the season before?

I'd say after we beat Burley away last season. Can't think of any player who has played for three Prem clubs at all, except possibly Connolly. Also we lost to Burnley. 3-2. 3-0 at half time. Skacel and Surman got two back second half.

I'd say after we beat Burley away last season. possibly you mean the barnsley game? we went there and won, after being brushed aside by manure.
Bad Wolf Posted 25 November, 2009 Posted 25 November, 2009 David Connolly? And Just after we went on that 3 game winning run last season?
Saint_clark Posted 25 November, 2009 Posted 25 November, 2009 Either Jaidi or Perry for the first one.
jinglesaints Posted 25 November, 2009 Posted 25 November, 2009 Question 1 is incorrect. It should be which former Southampton player played his first 3 Premier League games with 3 different clubs? Most people could get that then!
Joensuu Posted 25 November, 2009 Posted 25 November, 2009 (edited) While he was shocking for us, I do hope he manages to play again... Edited 25 November, 2009 by Joensuu
Joensuu Posted 25 November, 2009 Posted 25 November, 2009 (edited) Edit - think I was wrong, but couldn't remember us being out of the relegation zone since april(ish) 08 (did we pull out of it at all last season?) Edited 25 November, 2009 by Joensuu
Bailey Posted 26 November, 2009 Author Posted 26 November, 2009 Should probably clarify with regards to question 1. By 'current player', I DO NOT mean a current Saints player. Admittedly, the wording is a bit mis-leading though! Apologies for that. However, the answer DOES have a link to Southampton FC.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 Can't think of any player who has played for three Prem clubs at all, except possibly Connolly. Kevin Davies possibly but obviously not the answer to question 1 and James Beattie and Rory Delap and Danny Higginbotham?
Arizona Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 Kevin Davies possibly but obviously not the answer to question 1 and James Beattie and Rory Delap and Danny Higginbotham? Can think of many ex-Saints who have played for three clubs, I was refering to current players. Anyway, now that the goalposts have been moved... It's not Beatts, Higgy, Delap, Crouch, Camara or Phillips

The Majestic Channon Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 1/ Callum davenport, cov, spurs then saints.
lambertsrightleg Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 Frasier Campbell? Man utdm spurs and sunderland?
Nineteen Canteen Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 1/ Callum davenport, cov, spurs then saints. Maybe onto something here but not sure Coventry is right. So how about Davenport - Spurs, Saints , West Ham?
yorkiesaint Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 I think we entered the relegation zone on 28th dec 2008
Nineteen Canteen Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 I think we entered the relegation zone on 28th dec 2008 If that is the case what are people moaning about not even been 11 months yet.
lambertsrightleg Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 Maybe onto something here but not sure Coventry is right. So how about Davenport - Spurs, Saints , West Ham? unfortunately he played more than one game for us
yorkiesaint Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 If that is the case what are people moaning about not even been 11 months yet. yeh, this time last year we were so successful we were 4th from bottom
Joensuu Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 unfortunately he played more than one game for us Yup, but I think you should look back at Coventry... check out Wiki "He made his debut, in the final game of the 2000-01, a 0–0 draw against Bradford City"
krissyboy31 Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 I've got another question. When will we officially lose the prefix "struggling", as in "Struggling Southampton"? I think that is so ingrained in the football correspondent's psyche that we'll have to qualify for the Champions League, to lose it.
ericofarabia Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 I've got another question. When will we officially lose the prefix "struggling", as in "Struggling Southampton"? I think that is so ingrained in the football correspondent's psyche that we'll have to qualify for the Champions League, to lose it. So the answer to your question is 3 to 4 years then
treggs23 Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 If that is the case what are people moaning about not even been 11 months yet. I laughed.
St Michael Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 It's Calum Davenport. He made his first Premier League appearance for Coventry when he came on as a 45th minute substitute against Bradford during the final game of the 2000-01 season. Coventry were then relegated to the Championship and Davenport waited over three years for his next Premier League game - as an 83rd minute substitute for Tottenham against Aston Villa on 22 November, 2004. After spending four matches as an unused sub at Spurs, Davenport was loaned to Southampton, playing his first Premier game for the Saints against Fulham in a 3-3 draw on 5 January, 2005.
St Michael Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 And the answer to question two is December 13, 2008. As shown here (we were just outside the bottom four on match No.24 which was the defeat by Forest.

Other than that my outside chance would be Chris Perry. Not too many others have played at Prem level. EDIT ..**** LATER AMENDMENT ..OH, HIM ! I read it as a SAINTS player .sorry . 2- Well we did get a CCC play-off place when Burley was still with us ..thats not so long ago, surely (2006-7 maybe.?) Nineteen Canteen Posted 26 November, 2009 Posted 26 November, 2009 thankyou thankyou Respect - what do you win?
The Majestic Channon Posted 27 November, 2009 Posted 27 November, 2009 A ' welcome back kotter' box set, an onion and a date with the balinese godess of plenty.
