Could be a blessing in disguise. Bart looked quality V Charlton, especially his distribution. (i.e back to his old ways before the Newcastle game).

Davis by comparison has looked low on confidence, half the player he was last year.

Its just has he mentally got what it takes? Didnt he say to Burley in the play off games his head wasnt right?? Worrying...

Not really. He was playing for Mr. Man-Manager of the Decade, after all...........

Apart from anything else he was dropped because of his performance in the first leg. Burley said he needed more experience in the back line.

It's a blow but I'm not to worried about Bart taking over. he had a decent Game against Charlton. And the key thing is he is playing behind a more competent defence now, & his confidence is being restored. He has my full support, lets just see where we are in 10 games time, if Bart has a good run in the team we may not be clamouring for Davis to return then. Lets hope we end up with 2 top keepers vying for the No:-1 position.

If Bart can't handle it then he shouldn't be our back up keeper....otherwise whats the point?

Next run of games could make or break his career here. I hope he does well though as he deserves a chance.

I can't remember exactly when Bart first broke into the first team but I'm pretty sure he had a few very eye catching performances in the prem?

In the champ certainly - in the 6-1 game against Wolves he made the best save I've ever seen live... never seen a replay of it to back my memories up though...

What on earth would be the point of having a reserve keeper and then go and get a loan in, I guess that would make Bart feel good. Some people really do need to get a grip. Bart would have played anyway in the JPT and FA Cup I would think. We don't need a loan. Only issue is who to stick on the bench, would rather have Poke than Forecast, but suspect we cannot recall Poke from his loan at Torquay (is that correct?).

Nah there's a 24 hour recall clause for Poke.

Bart really needs to step up to the plate, the potential is enormous, not looked the same since Coles/Webster left.

I have faith in him.

Wright is sat on the bench at Ipswich, not looked half the keep he did down here though.

We beat Wolves 6-0 so give him the credit of the clean sheet!

Anyway it really doesn't matter what is posted on here I think it is clear that Kelvin is out and Bart is the next inline - read the OS.

I think Bart will be okay, the fixture list is kind to him apart from Leeds away but I would still like to see this 'command of the penalty area' he has. As an ex-goalie from my armchair I saw him be a bit hesitant for crosses and looped in balls versus Charlton - their goal was a volley inside the six yard box for goodness sake - but having said that his distribution was okay and he is a good shot stopper. He obviously plays on confidence, probably more than Kelvin who just ploughs on regardless - and the crowd can help with this so let's get behind him and the team on Saturday and see our first clean sheet in thirteen games!

That's the way to do it.

.....But what happens if he gets injured or sent off? Ulp!

Losing Kelvin is a big, big blow. Hopefully Bialkowski steps up to the plate and takes his chance with both hands. He's clearly got ability; he was in our first-team the season we got to the play-offs, with a number of us fans venting our frustration when Burley opted to choose Davis ahead of him for the semi-final at Pride Park! I just hope BB can put in a number of consistent performances over the coming weeks, but only time will tell.

Erm based on how many games?

Maybe a bit exaggerated, but he doesn't seem as good.

In particular last season he played it short to LB/RB a lot, whereas this season i've seen it happen twice. I appreciate that last year it didn't work very well, but we have a much better team now.

Maybe, but in my opinion we need a keeper with experience similar to Kelvin, and getting someone who will push him number 1 spot when he returns (soon please!) would be good!

and alex smithies at huddersfield has heeps and heeps of expierience.

Why? I wonder if there is anyone with a better backup keeper in the league? He's decent I think.

From what I've seen he is very poor. I expect he'll just turn out to be mediocre like the rest of them.

It would be good if Davis never played for us again if Bart proved to be a n outstanding goalkeeper during the next few weeks.

Relatively easy games against Northampton and Wycombe coming up for Bart to gain confidence

I think that KD playing it to LB/RB less often is more down to tactics than his own decision making. Shame because I like seeing the ball played out of defence, I think it suits us.

Didn't Bart get a big chance before and didn't he really not take it?

Yes, which is why I fail to understand some saying 'he deserves a chance'

I sincerely hope he has had some confidence beat into him and trust he will do a job for us failing which we will have to do some kind of loan deal, what about that lad Foster who isn't getting regular 1st team football ?

Ok jam, Why ?

I agree 'it would be good if the best keeper in the league never played for us again'

?why? exactly

To be honest im not a massive fan of KD at all, i think hes been very lucky with the fact he was given the armband and had such a terrible team in front of him last season, sort of earned him abit of a reprieve. i remember fans getting on his back the season before last for some of his lacklusture performances and errors (QPR springs to mind) and if he were the best keeper in the league he'd be in the official team of the week every week, which he has NOT been in all season so far. Bart is a good keeper, he was before he was injured and showed that he still is against charlton a few weeks back! so its not a blow in the slightest for us!

What he's trying to say is it would be good if Bart comes in and does so well that we don't ever need to put Kelvin back in. Now this seems unlikely but Bart certainly has the potential to make it happen.

I have faith in Bart - he's been out on loan a few times & done well, worked with a few different goalkeeping coaches & on the few times I've seen him looks a more confident proposition than previously.

I agree - this is his chance, he has the ability so we should count ourselves fortunate that we have a ready made replacement.

All players like all of us have bad spells and confidence issues. He just needs another chance. In some ways I think it is good to give Bart a go and give him experience. i remember when Kelvin had a bad patch and was out of the team.

I agree, however, we were never in a position of having the luxury of giving him or indeed anyone else a go, this is a forced position and a situation that Bart must capitalise on in a way that he has failed to before
