saintdom Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 gonna need a loan in, dont think Bart can hack it
S-Clarke Posted 24 November, 2009 Author Posted 24 November, 2009 we're lucky to still have someone like Bart as backup though tbh.
S-Clarke Posted 24 November, 2009 Author Posted 24 November, 2009 saintdom said: gonna need a loan in, dont think Bart can hack it he did v well on loan at Barnsley last month - think he's a decent keeper, but has been shown up by our shocking defense in the last couple of seasons.

He did well against Charlton and kept a clean sheet for 35 mins tonight. Goalkeeping is all about confidence and he looks a lot more confident than he did in the last couple of years.

derry Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 He did well at Barnsley and OK in JPT and tonight.

Thedelldays Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 bart is good enough to be a decent keeper in this league

saint lard Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 Our pathway to the playoffs is strewn with cowpats from the devils own herd.

saintdom Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 Quote: Bart was quality against Charlton. Maybe, but in my opinion we need a keeper with experience similar to Kelvin, and getting someone who will push him number 1 spot when he returns (soon please!) would be good!
Arizona Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 I'm not too fussed. It's a blow, but I have faith in Bart. Yes he had a mare playing behind Makin, Bennett, Powell and other defensive monstrosities, but he looked solid against Charlton and I'm sure their goal was offside.

obelisk Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 Bart can do a good job. He'll also do more than KD to command his area.

It is a blow to lose Kelvin, but I do think Bart is a decent keeper.
Paul Chuckle Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 Is Kasey Keller still knocking around? Just for the USA chants if for no other reason
Arizona Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 P.S. Let's all give Bart our full support. I vote we give him Saga's song.

saints-cris Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 A big blow, but I really do think Bart is a pretty good keeper and will do a decent job. So not a devastating blow. He's got a real chance to show he can cut it.

saintstr1 Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 Bart wont let anyone down , more mature & confident these days.
benjii Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 Big chance for Bart. Not necessarily a problem.
Saint Martini Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 Give Bart a chance for a few weeks. Maybe this is the opportunity he needed to show everyone what he's worth. If not, that's good to know as well. We can move on and get someone else in as backup.

Neilza Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 Gutted for Kelv but am confident in Bart. Needs a chance like this to prove himself. He is easily better than Forecast and any other keeper we have.

sotonjoe Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 Can't see what all the fuss is about. We have two quality understudies and it's good for them to get a chance. He'll be missed of course, but let's give some respect and support to the other keepers who now get to prove their worth.
madruss Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 Sure this is a big blow, but thinking about it Kelvin hasn't really been needed as much as last season (I mean when was the last time he even came close to the MOTM award?). For all the faults of our defence and not keeping clean sheets, Kelvin's been much better protected this season and I don't actually think GK is our priority position at the moment. Bart will do just fine

He looked really good before his injury a few years back - was it at Newcastle in the cup - can't really remember...
Gis Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 Well a few weeks ago I wanted Bart gone. But I have a feeling the time may be right for him to come into the team and take over the Number One spot permanently now. He has all the attributes you could ask for in a goalkeeper but seemed to lose confidence completely a few years back If he is ever going to make it this has got to be his time.
VectisSaint Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 saintdom said: gonna need a loan in, dont think Bart can hack it What on earth would be the point of having a reserve keeper and then go and get a loan in, I guess that would make Bart feel good. Some people really do need to get a grip. Bart would have played anyway in the JPT and FA Cup I would think. We don't need a loan. Only issue is who to stick on the bench, would rather have Poke than Forecast, but suspect we cannot recall Poke from his loan at Torquay (is that correct?).
JustinR Posted 24 November, 2009 Posted 24 November, 2009 Gutted for Kelvin but more than happy with Bart so far this season- has the potential to be an all round better keeper IMO. Its just has he mentally got what it takes? Didnt he say to Burley in the play off games his head wasnt right?? Worrying...
