NickG Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 when he scored he seemed to be pushing players away to run to Pardew - guess he feels he owes him for this chance.
harvey Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 If I were conelley I would be well ****ed off......that goal should have won us the game, until KD.............oh whaatever
Arizona Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 That was an incredible goal. Worthy of winning a Champs League final.
Tamesaint Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 That was an incredible goal. Worthy of winning a Champs League final. I agree. The ground was buzzing for 5 minutes afterwards. A pity we didn't capitalise on it. We came close but should have got the third immediately afterwards.
Block 5 Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 I agree. The ground was buzzing for 5 minutes afterwards. A pity we didn't capitalise on it. We came close but should have got the third immediately afterwards. We should NEVER HAVE NEEDED A THIRD GOAL!!!!! AP & WD need to seriously sort out our defence.
Turkish Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 you are right, i had £2 on saints to win 2-1. Not only did we not need a goal, neither did they, **** ****s.
JustMike Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 quality goal and ALs wasnt bad either. Overshadowed by 2 bad goals and a couple of odd decisions from AP
hypochondriac Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 I had 3-1 saints, 2-2 and and 2-1 saints so I was going home happy either way.
rich saints Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 a group of us had saints 2-1 and bournmouth to win 2-1 double which would of won us1800!!!!!!!!
hypochondriac Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 a group of us had saints 2-1 and bournmouth to win 2-1 double which would of won us1800!!!!!!!! I had that as well. Fecking saints. Last season I had a fiver on saints 2-1 reading 2-1 and reading scored for 3-1 in something like the 93rd minute. Would have won me an absolute packet.
iansums Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 (edited) If I were conelley I would be well ****ed off......that goal should have won us the game, until KD.............oh whaatever If you were Connolly you'd be able to spell his name correctly Edited 22 November, 2009 by iansums
Johnny Bognor Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 (edited) I you were Connolly you'd be able to spell his name correctly If you had an 'f' on your keyboard, you could take the **** out of other posters, without leaving yourself open to attack. Edited 22 November, 2009 by Johnny Bognor

Whitey Grandad Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 you are right, i had £2 on saints to win 2-1. Not only did we not need a goal, neither did they, **** ****s. Two of my neighbours had Saints to win 3-2 so I wasn't worried. Until the final whistle, that is.
S-Clarke Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 He's a class player. If you watch him all game you can see his movement, his touches, his flicks - it all deserves a higher level. He's still not 100% fit...but it's just his quickness of thought which seems to bamboozle most defenders.
Johnny Bognor Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 What are you talking about? Are you mistaking me for someone who gives an f?
Saint_clark Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 Am I right in saying he wears eyeshadow?

Winchester_Saint Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 quality goal and ALs wasnt bad either. Overshadowed by 2 bad goals and a couple of odd decisions from AP Yeah spot on. Can't understand why AP took Lambert off for Papa with 6 minutes to go - yeah Lambert had a poor game but he was the only one with a bit of height and strength and it was pointless just pounding balls up to Connolly and Papa in the last 6 or 7 minutes. Neither of them were going to win anything in the air and Papa managed to rank up his 1,587,458th and 1,587,459th offsides of his career in those crucial last 5 minutes. Work it out, Papa you plank

Work it out, Papa you plank TBF, I don't think you can say it was pointless. We had two very good chances after Mellis and Papa came on which materialised largely due to surging running off the ball but unfortunately they were squandered.

We had two very good chances after Mellis and Papa came on which materialised largely due to surging running off the ball but unfortunately they were squandered. Yeah I agree with bringing Mellis on for a bit more energy and height - Lallana had worked his socks off - I just didn't understand taking off our striker who, although he had a bad game, can score in a flash and also provided the only height up front for when we knocked long balls forwards. Maybe it's just that I don't rate Papa! He got himself offside yet again on two good occasions, one of them being that time that he rounded the goalie. Never mind, AP knows a lot more than me!
iansums Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 Don't you mean "uck o"? I found the 'f' key min-sentence.
Saints foreva Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 It was a fantastic goal, almost the exact same as Jordon Robertson's goal against Norwich last season.
Johnny Bognor Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 I found the 'f' key min-sentence. Don't tell me, someone has swapped your 'n' and 'd' keys???
Weston Saint Posted 23 November, 2009 Posted 23 November, 2009 And now we know why he ran to Pardew. He was called in mid week to discuss dropping him to the bench to accomodate 4 5 1 formation as Pardew does not think we are strong enough to play 4 4 2 against a team that passes it about. Connolly appears to have given him the hair dryer treatment

Connolly appears to have given him the hair dryer treatment I'm with Connolly, seems crazy to use someone like Paul Wotton in a 4-5-1 rather than Connolly in a 4-4-2. AP needs to be braver with his team selections IMHO.
NickG Posted 23 November, 2009 Author Posted 23 November, 2009 good that he respects his manager to react like that - and want to celebrate with him

Connolly appears to have given him the hair dryer treatment Yet maybe Connolly's presence and the subsequent formation to 'accomodate' him is having a negative impacct on Lambert? He may well be still suffering the after-effects of 'flu and his presence drew the attention of the defenders leaving Connolly free but he looks a shadow of his formerself playing the deeper role behind DC.

He may well be still suffering the after-effects of 'flu and his presence drew the attention of the defenders leaving Connolly free but he looks a shadow of his formerself playing the deeper role behind DC. He just looked like he was still suffering from the flu or some other type of injury. Well done to him for playing as well as he did in those circumstances. Lambo and Connoly fully fit are the best strike pairing in league 1.
damers Posted 23 November, 2009 Posted 23 November, 2009 Maybe he said I can play wide left in a 4-5-1, as at the time had we not switched to this formation with Lallana moving inside and James sitting??
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 23 November, 2009 Posted 23 November, 2009 I don't really understand why playing 4-4-2 means that Lambert has to play any deeper than normal? Surely he can play in exactly the same position, but he just has someone up there with him? If either of the two has to play deeper I'd expect it to be Conolly.
NickG Posted 23 November, 2009 Author Posted 23 November, 2009 without wishing to stir up old threads I felt the 4/5/1, 4/3/3 formation was actually more attacking
Saint Fan CaM Posted 23 November, 2009 Posted 23 November, 2009 Connolly is a class act - it really is a complete coup to get him in for nothing and it would be a crime not to play him frankly. As far as Lambert goes, he's an experienced pro and should be capable of finding his feet with Connolly TBH.
