It was awful conditions for a big player like Lambert yesterday - windy, raining, slippery pitch, the ball holding up sometimes and running away on others.

All in all I suppose he was pretty anonymous but still led the line well enough and he wasn't far away from scoring with one of his free kicks. His biggest challenge is going to be how he works best with the Connoly / Lallana partnership which is coming on a treat.

Lambert just didn't seem interested yesterday, I wonder if Conolly is beginning to get to him. We saw from Conolly yesterday, how effective a striker should be and in truth Lambert has never been in that class. It seems to me that as Saints up the tempo and skill of their movement Lambert is being left behind. I fear he doesn't have it in hmi to respond in the way Conolly has either.

It's not just Lambert that is poor at the moment, somehow Hammond was all at sea again yesterday as well. Why they chose him as Skip and not Murty is beyond me.

Lambert, Hammond and Davis need a run in the reserves to sharpen them up... I know, I know who'd replace them?

Is this serious?

Is he injured or just having a couple of poor games. Seemed uninterested again today.

Its the sort of thing we have all seen before when a player has had his head turned by another club. Has he been tapped up ?

Both

He's been Ill and

Everton are after him

IF TRUE they will have to wait until next summer because the FA have a 3 club rule (see Article 5) :-http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/RulesandRegulations/~/media/Files/PDF/TheFA/FA%20Handbook%2009%2010/FIFA_Regs_Transfers_pg435-450.ashx/FIFA_Regs_Transfers_pg435-450.pdf

"Players may be registered with a maximum of 3 clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs..."

And IMO November is too early for any player or any other club to be planning a move for him. Deals will probably be arranged for Jan now but summer moves will not be discussed until March/April time.

Probably something to do with him being fit, whereas Murty may be back in contention now but it remains to be seen for how long. Still I like your criticisms of Lambert, Davis and Hammond, makes a change from the tossers lambasting James :)

PMSL

One of the single most hilarious things written on here. Ever.

If Murty cannot stay fit then we desperately need an alternative to James. We simply cannot go on losing points to his inadequacies.

lets hope your right. But if he was still ill today then why did he start ?

for the record I didn't know he was ill last week, but today he seemed totally uninterested in jumping or challenging for the ball.

If he's still like midweek, should we play him?

Is that because the fecking ball went nowhere near him?? for the second game on the trot we seam to have decided that DC is the target man.... footballers are really stupid!

I was thinking about renewing my subscription to this forum. I hadn't bothered because I didn't want to pay to read some of the negative, ill-informed, change-like-the-wind tosh on here. It's been better lately but it only takes a couple of games without a win to bring it out again. As demonstrated by this post and quite a few in yesterday's reaction thread.

Honestly, we've been on the best run I can remember. We lost to Brighton because we didn't play well. It happens to all teams once in a while. Ask Alex Ferguson. Yesterday we played well and so did Norwich. I think it was a fair result.

As for Lambert, as has been said he's been ill. But I saw him tackling back, active in the box and even taking the ball down the wing. As for putting the other two in the reserves to "sharpen them up", I think you might be saying that for a "look at me" effect.

I'll hang on to my fiver for now.

Lambert has been ill...(but still plays..respect) We lose a game (it happens but not as frequently these days) and we dont beat Norwich (A good team who shouldnt probably be in this division) all are facts and as some reasonable posters say... the doom-mongers have a field day.... treat them like the annoying mites they are.... spray them with IGNOR-O-SAINT and in next to no time their annoying attention seeking voices will pale in insignificance!

guessing you haven't seen him play?

Very poor today. Had little service, but we got nothing out of him. Having said that, he is L1 top scorer and has been ill, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

That's generous!

This weekend has convinced me that we have a load of supporters who are just champing at the bit to have a go at whichever player they have a thing about. The good run has kept them quiet for a while but you can see that they have been just waiting for their opportunity. If we draw at Hartlepool it will be "Pardew Out!". You couldn't make it up.

Quite right .

It was a very good game against one of the better teams in the League and we drew.

How people expect players to be perfect every game mystifies me

Just posted the following on the Connolly thread but it just as relevant to this thread....

Yet maybe Connolly's presence and the subsequent formation to 'accomodate' him is having a negative impacct on Lambert? He may well be still suffering the after-effects of 'flu and his presence drew the attention of the defenders leaving Connolly free but he looks a shadow of his formerself playing the deeper role behind DC.

Lambert has been ill with flu which I didn't know about. Personally I think he has been our best player so far, but I don't see why I shouldn't question his total lack of effort that he has shown in the last two games without the knowledge of his illness.

Its a good job we have these interenet forums where we can express views or ask questions, otherwise I would have kept to my original thought.

Next question: Why play someone who is that ill ? Our options aren't brilliant I agree, but I would have rather see a fit and ready Papa Waigo play than watch us play with ten and half men.

Bit harsh with your "total lack of effort" comment aren't you?

Perhaps it would have been better to say, lacked energy to put in the effort he normally does.

I sometimes wonder about our fans we have 1 of the best strikers in this league who is second top scorer in the division he has had a couple of mediocre games still scored against Brighton.

He has not been well & still put a shift in winning & challenging for headers holding the ball up occupying the centre backs & causing them problems & he still gets criticised

We should thank our lucky stars that we have him and reserves criticism untill he has 5 or 6 bad games he has been a fantastic signing & when we start to get wide & provide him with decent service he will score hatfulls of goals

he should get criticised... Constructively. We should as a club in whole should strive to be better an not accept bad performances and mediocore expectations

his goal scoring record is good agreed but like today when he is bad he is bad.similar to rasiak and he got no end of grief.whats the difference?

I don't remember Rasiak ever being top scorer in the division? Are you serious though? we have the TOP scorer in the league and you are moaning about him? Shall we get Brett Ormerod back? He'll run around and not score for you.

Completely agree, but I have seen people suggesting he be dropped. Ridiculous.

Not from where I was sitting.

If you are recognised as a consistent goalscorer then other teams will pay more attention to you. By doubling on Lambert space is created for Connolly and others to exploit.

No probs there then .

I was shocked to see that both Ormerod and Rasiak scored in the same game on Saturday

'kinhell - I can't believe that "Mr Goal-scorer" himself Rickie Lambert is getting sh*t on this forum just because he's been under the weather lately and has failed to score in...ONE game ffs!!! Have a word with yourself some of you...
