slickmick Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 Why do people think Trotman was bad? Norwich's strikers hardly got a sniff. something we agree on tonight.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 Were those of you on here who are saying Trotman was ok watching the same game as me. He was atrocious, and James was not much better. I would agree however with others, that up until the last couple of games, that Trotman, Gillingham apart was playing well . Agree entirely and Davis should shoulder blame today - he has never dominated his area and got caught out today. Norwich were far the superior side and we have a way to catch them up. Not a problem but if people like NickG hadn't raised expectations with talk of playoffs etc then many of us would not be feeling too ****ed off tonight.

As I never took much notice of Nick G's simplistic approach to Statistics I am not unhappy drawng with Norwich. Another Draw against Hartlepool and wins against Wycombe and Tranmere hopefully will lead us out of the relegation zone
hughieslastminutegoal Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 I see the wrist slitters are already out in force. Glad that there are people in the world who draw pleasure from ignoring any positives and focussing on any negatives. Nothing to do with wrist slitting, just a bit of realism. Are you saying you are happy with the no. of goals we concede every game? We clearly have a problem shutting sides out - no matter what standard they are. You have heard the expression "if you fail to plan you are planning to fail"?
hughieslastminutegoal Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 On the other hand, we have only failed to score in 2 games all season, Colchester & Swindon. You can't win games by keeping clean sheets, it's done by scoring goals. Trying to keep clean sheets is a damn good start though, ain't it. Yep we have been scoring well. So your good idea is to ignore what is now the obvious problem.
astrasri Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 From behind the Northam goal the view was, Trotman made some mistakes, some of them really scary, and then he made some very good moves that seemed to make up for the mistakes. So on balance he could be judged a having a reasonable game. His performaces in the last two games probably show why Preston are happy to loan him out so much - he is not the finished article yet. Maybe he has "Saga-syndrome" (arrive at a new club and play your socks of to start with and then revert to a less spectacular standard once settled in). I'm not knocking the guy, because he was so good in his first few games I just wonder why he has had so much loan time. Having watched Thomas against Brighton I'd be happy if he continued after January if Trotman went back, providing of coarse that he kept that standard up!
benjii Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 Pardew agrees with me, as usual, we defended a lot better than of late: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1882173,00.html

Bizarre, utterly bizarre, from someone who must surely have watched quite a bit of football?

Another Draw against Hartlepool and wins against Wycombe and Tranmere hopefully will lead us out of the relegation zone here's another for you - 4th best form in league tonight - even after those last two games - only behind Huddersfield, Leeds and Norwich http://www.4thegame.com/statistics/league-one/tables/currentform.html
Saint Without a Halo Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 here's another for you - 4th best form in league tonight - even after those last two games - only behind Huddersfield, Leeds and Norwich http://www.4thegame.com/statistics/league-one/tables/currentform.html Yes over 6 games and equal with Hartlepool and Yeovil! We need to look at where we are after 17 games without the 10 point deduction and we would be 11th in league 1 behind Walsall! That is the real situation! Should we be happy with that? Yes we are improving and making progress! but is it wrong to point out where the weaknesses are that need sorting? Teams who conceded 2 or 3 a game will rarely do better than mid table as most teams concentrate on shutting out good forward lines! the league tables of all divisions over the last 30 years will generally bear me out on this fact! We need to be good throughout to make progress not just in parts!
Red and White Army Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 Lost the lead twice again today, after a suicidal 20mins against Brighton. AP needs to start planning for life after Trotman - NOW. Did you see the game?
alpine_saint Posted 22 November, 2009 Author Posted 22 November, 2009 Did you see the game? What is inaccurate about the statement I made ?
torsaint Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 Noticed that after Murty came on he never stopped talking and organising everyone around him including Jaidi who is a very experienced international. He was also loudly in the face of their winger. We've needed that as James wouldn't say boo to a goose.

We need to be good throughout to make progress not just in parts! that was due to poor start before team/management team in place etc. We need to be tighter in defence but even if we carry on as we have ever since this team has been in place we will be nearer play offs than relegation (personally doubt will be in play offs)
Give it to Ron Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 2 sloppy goals from mistakes which are happening far too free frequent but the one big positive I take is that now at long last from set pieces we actually compete and win headers. After watching season upon season of forwards having free headers in our area this is one positive we can take....if you want to.
Dalek2003 Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 We are still a very nervous team. Other teams sense it, and know the best way to unsettle us is to take the game tom us. Also, the crowd is still nervous and this get to the players. We need to be comfortable in the table before we can relax and impose ourselves on the oppostion
View From The Top Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 We are still a very nervous team. Other teams sense it, and know the best way to unsettle us is to take the game tom us. Also, the crowd is still nervous and this get to the players. We need to be comfortable in the table before we can relax and impose ourselves on the oppostion That's a good point Glen. We do seem to have gone from being a very strong, dominant, confident defensive unit to being a very nervous bunch of strangers.
Psycrow Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 Amazing how many people are writing off Trotman after 2 games when previous to that everyone was clamouring to sign him permenantly. Fickle? No! Not us! The shakyness in defence has also come since changing from starting with 4-5-1 to starting with 4-4-2. I was surprised to see that the formation hadn't changed yesterday after what happened again BHA, but the team still did better, and from the sound of it the defence was a huge improvement.

Also, the crowd is still nervous and this get to the players. We need to be comfortable in the table before we can relax and impose ourselves on the oppostion There was a period in the second half where all our team were retreating to the edge of our penalty area. It just invites the opposition to come and have a go at us. Pardew spotted it straight away but when the whole team is affected by the jitters it's difficult to get them to hold their nerve.

Red and White Army Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 What is inaccurate about the statement I made ? I guess you didn't see the game then. Not sure how you can expect people to take your opinions seriously when you never watch the team play.
ringwood Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 When Thomas played the previous half, it was noticeable that he was doing all the instructions, appears Murty felt the need to take charge, seems much like Claus, Radi needs someone strong in the backline to direct him,
Arizona Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 Compared to Wigan, I'd say we're like the Great Wall of China.
krissyboy31 Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 agree with you mate...trotters is a good player (imo) and is still learning as he is fairly young still..he can only improve and these dodgy games are going to happen.. he is the sort of player that could grow with the team I could say the same about Olly Lancashire.......but wouldn't be able to keep a straight face!
Topcat Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 Another game where James was beaten for pace and a goal conceded. For such a young player he is painfully slow.
