hamster Posted 20 November, 2009 Share Posted 20 November, 2009 Anyone know a god resource for calculating and choosing the best annuity please? Not a massive amount to invest but as I have read that the rates are at their highest for a long time, want to weigh up a few options. Note that I have googled it, but seem to get loads of reports and not that many calculators. Cheers in advance and would be particularly keen to hear from Crouchie's Lawyer foillowing some cracking advice previously (still owe you a beer mate). tpbury Posted 21 November, 2009 Share Posted 21 November, 2009 I've done some research into this for you Hamster and I've discovered the best resource is either Mercury (of the Roman persuasion) or Hades of the Greek lot. My research also indicates Mammon will be a beneficial resource, but unfortunately I've run out of time to get more info. Let us know how you get on, as I'm sure we're all keen to get the pension related advice of omnipotent super beings.
Saint_John Posted 21 November, 2009 Share Posted 21 November, 2009 I always use http://www.fsa.gov.uk/tables Select the 4th option (Pension Annuities) and then answer certain questions and you should get a guide as to what the major companies like Pru; FP; L&G; Std Life etc are offering. hamster Posted 21 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 21 November, 2009 Cheers for that mr tpbury, took me a couple of reads to realise what the hell you were on about then I shook my head and laughed (a little). Strange coincidence actually that we are going to look at a boat tomorrow named after a Greek God. Maybe it's an omen? Saint John, I found that fsa site earlier but wandered if their are any decent brokers around, perhaps one that works on comission rather than an up front fee as the amount we have to invest would not warrant it. btw, the amount that Aviva (fund holders) have quoted is about 10-15% higher than the best from the fsa site, which makes me wonder if I have missed something or maybe their is some sort of loyalty bonus that I have missed. Are you 'in the trade' by any chance?

Ewell Posted 24 November, 2009 Share Posted 24 November, 2009 I wor for Just Retirement and I believe we are very competitive in the market. http://www.justretirement.com/ We are also fronting this site which does comparisons for a lot fo the market leaders such as ourseleves L&G etc http://www.premierretirement.co.uk/ This service does not give advise like an IFA would but it is just to help people with smaller pension pots who want to get the best deal possible! Cheers Paul
