Supersubpuckett Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 Coming down from London tomorrow with a couple of mates who support the budgies - don't suppose there are any neutral pubs we could go to?
Saints67 Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 I've been in The Bevois Castle when I came down to a CCC game with some Blackpool fans (the drummer ejection day) and they accepted away fans no problem. Think it's changed hands but there was decent beer when I was last in. It's on Onslow Rd by the way. http://www.southampton-pubs.co.uk/bevoiscastle/index.htm
saints_is_the_south Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 Normally a decent mixture in the Giddy Bridge.
kpturner Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 It is not compulsory for them to announce who they support, or to wear yellow shirts :-)

I went in there after the Bristol City game at the end of 2007/08 season. The landlord at the time said he was didn't mind who drank in there cos he was from pompey. Don't know if he's still there but I'm sure it would be fine to drink there. I think the Old Fat Cat on Above Bar Street is the designated away pub, but not a very good pub unfortunately!
Toadhall Saint Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 Normally a decent mixture in the Giddy Bridge. what he said + cheap beer & food.
Supersubpuckett Posted 20 November, 2009 Author Posted 20 November, 2009 Thanks all I know they don't have to annouce who they support etc, but in the past I've been asked to show my membership card at some places ... although the fact they drag their knuckles might let the cat out the bag!
Pancake Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 I must be really tired or something as I read the title of this as "Natural pubes for tomorrow?"
Supersubpuckett Posted 20 November, 2009 Author Posted 20 November, 2009 I must be really tired or something as I read the title of this as "Natural pubes for tomorrow?" Actually that was my next question, anyone know where I can get some good quality natural pubes?
ozzmeister Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 I went to the Spoons near Ocean Villiage with a Gills fan when we played them Good mix there.
bungle Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 Normally a decent mixture in the Giddy Bridge. But on the downside you are in a really sh*t wetherspoons.
chocco boxo Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 But on the downside you are in a really sh*t wetherspoons. Are there any good wetherspoons??? How many are Norwich bringing down? Their support has been very good this year, fair play to them. I just hope Saints get back to winning ways. COYR.
sad saints fan Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 I went to the Pensioners off Bedford place to watch the Brighton game. Several different screens although it is a small pub. There was a few in there cheering when Brighton scored,so obviously no problem with away fans, and there was also lots of other interesting stuff to look at,although I am to old to anything but look now.
saints_is_the_south Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 But on the downside you are in a really sh*t wetherspoons. Meh, cheap beer, cheap food - good enough for me & plenty of others.
Red&White Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 Actually that was my next question, anyone know where I can get some good quality natural pubes? The Anchor East St :smt040
saint_bert Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 Meh, cheap beer, cheap food - good enough for me & plenty of others. Plus even cheaper with wristbands for regulars
Mao Cap Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 Meh, cheap beer, cheap food - good enough for me & plenty of others. If you're a CAMRA member you get vouchers for cheap real ale and all. Can't fault them for that!
suewhistle Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 Go to St Denys.. The Junction, South-Western and Dolphin all serve ggod beer and the clientele are intelligent enough to get really ****ed off with people who get upset with somebody supporting another team... you might get a bit of informed banter, though...
krissyboy31 Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 Could try the Joshua Tree (ex Coopers) on Millbank Street. Quite handy for the away section!
explorer saint Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 Lord Lucius down Ocean Village, not the greatest pub but parking, cheap beer and food plus 10 mins walk to the ground, always mix of fans
EFM Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 The Prince of Wales is a fairly ****e pub but one bar is for the away fans. Not usually any problem mingling.
Langleysaint Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 The Plume of Feathers ! no your best bet is Bedford place good choice of pubs for a bit of a crawl.
conaero Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 The Norwich guys are a good crowd, always stop and have a chat to a few of them.
Berkhamsted Saint Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 The Prince of Wales is a fairly ****e pub but one bar is for the away fans. Not usually any problem mingling. To be fair not many away fans who find the Prince of Wales fans stay very long - I seem to recall 20 Man Utd fans needed to leave in a hurry last season.
