nickfinks Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 we were all singing his praise not so long ago, how times do change
bungle Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 we were all singing his praise not so long ago, how times do change No we weren't.
Saints67 Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 Shame. Always hoped he would be a great player for us. Anyway thanks for your part in th 0-6 win away at Wolves. Good luck to the fella.
Fan The Flames Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 I think its a shame too, with the right conditions he could have been a star. Still he has played a part in his own downfall. Heres to the future.
leehoudini Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 He's had his chances though, but hasn't really taken them. I certainly wont be losing any sleep over his non involvement.
Guest flickjax Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 he's excellent in FM2010 Matthew Le God must have had a soft spot for him
londonsaint1604 Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 That's a shame, good luck to him he's a class player when he wants to be.
Toadhall Saint Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 Unforunate for Saga but thats life. Sounds as if Pards is getting him in the window early! I wish him well when he does move on.
Greenridge Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 His presence wouldn't have gone amiss last week when an ill and very under par Lambert struggled through the game.
Gemmel Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 I think its a shame too, with the right conditions he could have been a star. Still he has played a part in his own downfall. Heres to the future. Spot on
Pancake Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 His presence wouldn't have gone amiss last week when an ill and very under par Lambert struggled through the game. Too true.
Arizona Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 Good luck to him. A decent pro and has obvious quality, but it just isn't working out for him here.
paris Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 Agreee!! His presence wouldn't have gone amiss last week when an ill and very under par Lambert struggled through the game.
alpine_saint Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 No we weren't. Yes we were. However, times have really changed at SMS the last couple of years. Good luck to him wherever he ends up. Shame it didnt work out.
Saint 76er Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 Doesn't really matter what he could have been, it's now just a matter of what we can get for him. The more the better, obviously, but what sort of value might Saga have on the open market these days? Alternatively, perhaps we could engineer a part exchange for a player Pards would like to bring in. Wonder if Preston might fancy him, or Cardiff for Feeney? However, if no takers maybe we'll let him go somewhere for nothing, just to get him off the pay roll and free up some space for newbies. One way or the other it's adios Saga and thanks for the (occasional) memories...

S-Clarke Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 His transfer was almost as protracted as Skacels, remember when leicester tried to hijack it? after all that, he only scored 2 goals all season! very much a player who came accross as the sort who thrives in confident, winning environments...but isn't there to stand up and be counted when the going get's tough.

BadgerBadger Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 He was only on fire when playing for a contract or trying to get back into the squad, once contracted or picked regular he was pooh
dellgirl Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 Wish him well, sorry to see him go,he was here at the wrong time for us and for him,it was a pity he didn't get more outings under that clown Wotte who would only play McGoldrick at the end of last season.
Bucks Saint Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 He was only on fire when playing for a contract or trying to get back into the squad, once contracted or picked regular he was pooh when he came back from his (Rupes-enforced) loan to Denmark last season, in January, he was on fire
shurlock Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 We are pretty light upfront. Lambert, Connolly who's returning from a long-term injury and Paterson who's still some way off the first team. That's it. The likes of Lallana, Papa and Antonio could chip in with support but they're not out and out strikers capable of leading the line.
shurlock Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 He was only on fire when playing for a contract or trying to get back into the squad, once contracted or picked regular he was pooh How has this bullsh*t story about Saga only playing well for a contract stuck all these years? Its a coincidence but so is the fact that he was playing in what was our strongest, most creative team since relegation. Sh*t, life's full of coincidences. A total redherring.
fish fingers Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 Good luck to him. A decent pro and has obvious quality, but it just isn't working out for him here. I must have missed this, please elaborate
londonsaint1604 Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 I must have missed this, please elaborate He definitely has the quality but there is something lacking.
yarb101 Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 With his aspirations of being an international footballer, there must be loads of clubs back in Poland, that would welcome him with open arms.... He should realise that the gravy train pulled out of the station a long time ago!
S-Clarke Posted 20 November, 2009 Posted 20 November, 2009 With his aspirations of being an international footballer, there must be loads of clubs back in Poland, that would welcome him with open arms.... He should realise that the gravy train pulled out of the station a long time ago! I think the fact he is still here indicates that there is very little, if no interest in him at all. The fact that pard's has said both the club and himself are actively looking for clubs, kinda suggests he's struggling to find a new employer... sad really, an ex-polish international and recent world cup player. In a way he needs to look at himself and his attitude tbf.
astrasri Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 His presence wouldn't have gone amiss last week when an ill and very under par Lambert struggled through the game. Having seen Saga's sub appearances earlier this season I am totally convinced he would not have been any improvement on a below par Ricky Lambert.
St Landrew Posted 21 November, 2009 Posted 21 November, 2009 Sad to see him go, when he does. But it's almost inevitable. He just doesn't suit the play of this team. Pity really because, like Lambert recently, he was on fire for a few months, and we ALL were singing his praises. Still a class player. Just not in this league. Thanks Saga, and best of luck.
ART Posted 22 November, 2009 Posted 22 November, 2009 Just as with Strachan and Kevin Davies, Burley with half the squad, I just can't accept managers who are incapable of getting the best out of players at their disposition. There is no excuse to exclude anyone and this shows the short comings in our managers abilities.

CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 27 November, 2009 Posted 27 November, 2009 Saganowski to Swansea rumour resurfaces : http://fansonline.net/southampton/article.php?id=831
OldNick Posted 27 November, 2009 Posted 27 November, 2009 His presence wouldn't have gone amiss last week when an ill and very under par Lambert struggled through the game. an ill lambert is still more effective than the overrated Saganovski. Get over it, he has been in general an overpaid failure.

OldNick Posted 27 November, 2009 Posted 27 November, 2009 (edited) Thanks for your well constructed an polite post.greenridge, I apologise for my terse reply. I just get cheesed off how Saga who has been lauded and fawned upon, when he has done little to really deserve the praise.Indirectly he is hurting us as he is happily sitting on his contract and so stopping us using those funds on a player who would help the team.I understand it is not his fault we paid so much but he has hardly heaped himself in glory Edited 27 November, 2009 by OldNick

It's all about opinions though and I feel he has been pretty poorly treated on occasions although maybe there is background to why that has happened with more than one manager. You don't get to play for Poland at major finals by being a bad player and whilst his wages are a drain (which is not his fault) I still think we could have used his resources more wisely. But it's a new era and let's clear the decks and onwards and upwards.
the saint in winchester Posted 27 November, 2009 Posted 27 November, 2009 Lets hope we dont need him! Exactly. Seems an indiscrete comment to me, but I don't know if AP was put on the spot and had to clarify Saga's position. A simple "he remains a member of the club squad" seems appropriate to me. Privately he can tell Saga "actually, there's no likelihood of you making even the bench". Not sure why the public statement was needed, but I'm not ITK.
Lets B Avenue Posted 27 November, 2009 Posted 27 November, 2009 Saga is now injured according to the OS injury report.
Micky Posted 27 November, 2009 Posted 27 November, 2009 Saga is now injured according to the OS injury report. Pride...?!!

Oh come on Art, it was you who warned us about Saga before he arrived, and IMO you've been proved right. You said the pattern we've now seen (good, interested, committed start then tailing off) was seen at every club he'd been at.
trousers Posted 27 November, 2009 Posted 27 November, 2009 I know it's not the done thing to criticise Pardew but I don't understand why some (most?) managers arbitarily rule out playing a player because they "don't fit into my vision". Surely it's a manager's job to get the best out of the players at his disposal at any given moment in time? Pardew himself seems to indicate that there is no 'attitude' problem with Saga so why rule him out because of some intangible 'vision'? When motivated, Saga is a good international player. Either Pardew can't motivate him or he's unmotivatable. Pardew suggests that it's not the latter. Perhaps I'm missing something? edit: just read the thread after posting and see that I'm not alone in thinking this. Baton down the hatches.
ottery st mary Posted 27 November, 2009 Posted 27 November, 2009 The Saints Web Forum to sponsor Saga next season. That will show him he is wanted. Mind you ..two minutes later and he will be off to Doncaster or even Swansea. He may even be our trump card later in the season. You know the old run that all goalscorers go on at least once a season. COYRs.
