Blatant cheating there. Lost a bit of respect for Henry now.

Sad thing is - its gonna happen at the World Cup and most likely against England at some point. Sad to say it but we'll have to play them at their own game.

Lol - we have plenty of cheats too you know.

Why is Ashley Cole so unpopular?

I've never understood that. Apart from jealousy, of course.

Because he is a ****ing moron.

Extract from his book

"It all started while I was sitting in the sunshine at Sopwell House, the hotel in Hertfordshire used by England before we flew out to Portugal for Euro 2004, when an eager voice called out, “Ashley!” Mr Dein was stood there. He told me I wasn’t earning enough and my salary was going to be increased. My face- cracking smile told him all he needed to know. I was buzzing, really buzzing. His tone soon wiped the smile from my face. I felt his attitude suggested he was doing me a favour, like I was a 17-year-old trainee.

The deal he offered was a £10,000-a-week increase to £35,000. A hell of a lot of money. But, when taken in the context of football wages and his own estimated value of me of £20 million, and when placed next to those other Arsenal wages of between £80,000 and £100,000 a week, his offer was a ****-take. It was a slap in the face, not a pat on the back.

By the time José Mourinho and Roman Abramovich came to Highbury for a thrilling 2-2 draw in December 2004, I’d already told my agents what I wanted in terms of a new deal. They thought I’d lost my marbles. But I loved Arsenal, couldn’t imagine playing for another club and wanted to stay. “So get me £60,000 a week and I’ll be happy with that,” I said.

The next thing I know, on December 20, Jonathan (Barnett) is on the phone with good news: “Ash, I’ve just met David Dein for breakfast at Claridge’s; we’ve shaken on £60,000 a week.” As it turned out, the Arsenal board had other ideas about rubber-stamping Mr Dein’s recommendation. At a board meeting held two days before our 1–0 away defeat at Bolton in January, it was decided the maximum offer should be £55,000 a week. I don’t believe the board gave a damn about keeping me. It preferred to haggle over a difference of £5,000.

IT WAS A GOOD JOB I WAS WELL AWAY from it all, driving to Mum’s house in Chigwell as agent and vice-chairman locked horns in an office in Central London later that month. Somewhere along the A406 North Circular Road, one telephone call changed everything about how I viewed and felt about Arsenal.

Ash! Are you listening?” said a virtually hyperventilating Jonathan. “I’m here in the office and David Dein is saying they aren’t going to give you £60k a week. They’ve agreed £55k and this is their best and final offer. Are you happy with that?”

When I heard Jonathan repeat the figure of £55k, I nearly swerved off the road. “He is taking the ****, Jonathan!” I yelled down the phone. I was so incensed. I was trembling with anger. I couldn’t believe what I’d heard. I suppose it all started to fall apart for me from then on. I’d trusted Mr Dein to push the deal through"

Nothing wrong with that IMO.

He's a world class player and deserved to be amongst Aresenal's highest earners. Clearly they were trying to take advantage of him and he could get a better deal elsewhere. Fair play.

Also, it's a book. Written and sold for commercial reasons. Some parts of it may be exagerated for effect.

No, they were trying to work him into a manageable wage budget because they were short of cash with the building of the Emirates. They had to offload players like Henry, Campbell, Pires, Hleb and Vieira eventually to cut costs and bring in some cash.

He was just greedy.

Just made a quick mental list before reading the replies and lo and behild about 99% of my choices are already here :p

Yes Rashley Cole would certainly make my *hit list. He is one of the most self centred me me me big headed players around, unfortunately typical of the new breed of stars in The Prem alongside a couple of my other nominees Rio Ferdinand and Kieron Dyer. They hold their clubs to ransom demanding hugely inflated salaries and then run around kissing the clubs badge ... sorry but if being paid 80000 100000 quid a week isn't enough, phuck off and kiss somebody else's badge. And remember Dyer's threat to take take Taheer to court if he missed the world cup because not playing in it would have an impact on future transfer fees ... he'd only just signed a 3 year contract with Newcastle

Renaldo ... why does he have to resort to cheating when he is so talented.

Been done to death before ... John Bailey from the 70's in his Blackburn days (and everywhere ever since :D)

Lee Bowyer, Joey Barton and a pair of ex 'Saints' Dennis Wise and David (notso) Speedie :( I'm sure I'd dislike these guys even if they weren't footballers.

and finally (for now ;)) 2 of the biggest crooks in the game, all very alledgedly of course, Redkrap and Terry Venerealdieseasedballs

Redknapp, of course

Henry, mine dates back to the relegation season when he crossed the ball for another arse to score then turnt to us gesturing that we were going down, after last night I hope the world will see him for what he is, C*n*t(btw he was not terrorised by our end before the gesture)

Cole, amongst other things the way he puffs his chest out runs toward a player when he or his team mate fouled, until the opposing player turns and he goes all milky and cries to the ref.

David Howells, for taking our money for 2 seasons with only 9 appearances and a drunken admission he cared not for Saints and was here for the money, him along with the many that did the same.

Jens Lehmann, the most confrontational 'professional' footballer I have had the displeasure to watch

(please do not think this list has been influenced by my dislike of Arse and Spuds, it is simply coincidence)

Yeah, Ashley Cole and Steven Gerrard are definitely on my list.

I happen to think Ashley Cole is overrated as a player anyway (certainly by himself!)

Did anyone see that program a while back, where cameramen followed a few prem footballers around? I remember they followed Gerrard and he came across as a complete arrogant c**t. He pretty much believes he won the Champions League on his own!

Sammy Lee

Peter Drury - I can be really looking forward to watching a game and then the dreaded 'commentary is from Peter Drury' gets said. Suddenly the game is not so appealing.

David Pleat - same as above but for co-commentary.

it is very un-british to 'big yourself up'...

gerrard is easily one of the best players in the UK...easily playe dthe biggest part in winning the CL that day....

we dont do enough of this..the real best players out there KNOW IT

Its similar with boxers, all of them big themselves up but only a few really believe and in turn are right to believe they are the best fighter in the world, however, in football due to so many factors it would be difficult to describe any one person as the best footballer in the world let alone in a team, due to styles of play in a position(world rating) is difficult still but would agree Gerard is the best midfielder Liverpool have, is he the best midfielder in the country ???? difficult !

that is the debate..but if anyone can justify saying he is one of the best then gerrard can....

I bloody would..

I remember when ronaldo said this in an interview about a year ago and got slaughtered in the press for it...thing in, he was right and that attitude is probably what helped to get him there
