Crikey Robsk II. Do you want to start paying us..? [no ironic emoticon, this time]

I meant the other mods. I have nothing but the profoundest respect for the work you do, sir. But what can one man, mighty though he may be, do, against relentless waves of cretiny? I salute you.

Have a good laugh at us all when you have a pint together, but personally I think [b}you belong in the same boat with Thierry Henry[/b].

Typical outdated view on people of a different race. For your information, Henry doesn't belong in a boat. He is human just like you and the sooner people stop this disgusting 'he should get back on the boat he came here on' abuse, the better everyone will get on in this world - young and old. Before you start accusing others of taking the p*ss, perhaps you should take a look at the way you talk about people who are different to you?

Err... I think you may have misconstrued David's meaning there, KH.

Absolutely hilarious. The knee-jerk self-righteous tsunami when people relaised they had been sucked in was the best bit. Can't beat a few bruised egos! You'd think that Wurzel had just throttled an old codger to deaf with his bare hands.

Hundreds of thousands of people lost their lives and their livelihoods in that tsunami. I know it was a couple of years ago but I really do feel it is too soon to be bandying around that word with such flippancy. Have some respect for the dead and wounded!

Is this serious?

I can't see how you can much more serious than the tsunami disaster. Good grief.

Good?

Did you even consider the thoughts of the families of those lost in the tsunami when you made that comment? Do you really think any of them would describe the sorrow and anguish in this way?

I despair (but not in a good way).

I honestly didn't mean good grief in that way. I just meant I couldn't believe someone didn't realise the tsunami was serious.

I apologise for any confusion caused, it was a terrible time for all involved obviously.

HE MOST CERTAINLY DID, Landrew (thank you for understanding that).

My comment about Henry had NOTHING to do with his nationality or anything else - except the fact that he was blatantly dishonest, and cheated.

I never understand why it is that (so-called) " great " players feel that they have to cheat, when they have so much talent in the first place.

Henry was infamous at Highbury for his " diving " in the area and " won " many a penalty - that Arsenal weren't entitled to.

Both Henry (and Maradona) are/were regarded as some of the best players of their generation but set a very bad example for younger players (and fans) by somehow convincing themselves - it's alright to cheat - if you can get away with it. It took Maradona 20 years to admit that he handled the ball.!

My reference to Henry's " cheating " was still fresh in my mind when I read Wurzel's admission of his / their dishonesty. Nothing more !

(The expression is standard English usage for placing people of similar situations or character in the same category).

Oh FFS, I'm not sure who's winding who up anymore.

Sorry folks. The Old Codger does not exist. He is a username shared between several people.

The "My first away game" post was totally made up and posted by Wurzel. I - (Wurzel) - had no idea it would be taken seriously, and was totally shocked so many believed it. I guess there's a lesson there in never taking anyone you don't know on the internet at face value.

When it was posted there was no agenda except for a **** take. But the respect shown to the"old guy" and offers of lifts and free tickets has set me thinking. Everyone must know an older generation Saints fan - family, neighbour, sat in the corner of the pub, try the local rest home even - who can't get to games any more because of a combination of lack of finance and/or the physical inability to get to game. The club has had plenty of Kids for a Quid days. How about an "Accompany A Codger" day.

It would help fill up some of the empty seats, it would make an old man or woman very happy, and who knows, you may even learn something (actually true) about the Saints days of old.

Now Marcus can see the thread

Well OC that made me laugh :p. I clocked the dob when I posted it, but assumed that someone must have been born on All fools day.

I am again doffing my cap in you general direction, but for a different reason. Well done.

Sorry you & your multiple personalities have been banned. :(

not least the 31,195 people who sat through a boring 0-0 draw between us and Charlton, If we had won that game even by the solitary goal history would be different and w ewould quite possibly have avoided the disater that ensued. FACT
