Pacquiao - Cotto

Fight of the year and has potential to be one of the best ever. Let’s hope it does not disappoint.

If it goes into the later rounds then I can see Cotto grinding out a result. He is solid and can take a punch. Never underestimate Manny though and it would not surprise me if he dispatches Cotto similarly to Hatton.

Now do I stay up and watch it? Hmmmm

I really want Cotto to win this one but I just can't pick the outcome. On the one hand I think Pacman has benefited from fighting an aging weight drained DLH and a shot fighter in Hatton and he just won't cope with the first natural welter weight he's come up against.

But then I look at Cotto and think whether he's really recovered from the Margarito fight? Cotto in his prime takes Manny and for that reason, sod it I'm going for Cotto.

I'm undecided about whether to stay up for this or wait for the 9am replay. Anyone know who's on the undercard? And will Jim "consistently wrong" Watt be commentating?

Mayweather picks his fights... he might try to avoid it..I'd love to see it though.

I can't complain about the result - Pacman was just too good. Any doubts about his ability at welterweight are definitely gone now and that performance was much more impressive than PBF's against Marquez.

PBF V Pacman has to be the fight that everyone wants to see now so expect Mayweather to retire again until somebody easier comes along......I expect Manny to move up to heavyweight and take on Haye instead. The little fella would probably win that as well.

I think its a bit unfair to say Mayweather is going to duck the Pacquiao challenge. Bearing in mind that when PBF "retired" after the Hatton fight, Pac was in a different weight class and it wasnt really a fight either boxer had on their radar. It most certainly is now. It's the only match each of them can take now, and what a fight it will be!

You're right in that Pacquiao wasn't on the radar but Cotto certainly was. Two maybe three years ago that was the fight we all wanted and between them PBF and Cotto had all but destroyed any other challengers in the welterweight division. PBF wanted none of it and I'm not convinced he wants to fight someone who has a genuine chance of beating him.

Mayweather has said himself on a radio interview doing the rounds on the net that he's not interested in fighting for the respect/challenge/glory mainly the money. If they throw enough money at it, it could happen but I wouldn't bet on it. He got ripped to shreds on this interview because they accused him of bottling fighting anyone great and he kept backing out of it by mentioning its not up to him who he fights and its down to money.

Was at The Strip last night seeing some friends who had come in. Was at the Mirage Casino sports book hoping to catch the fight but they only show these things pay per view (even at the casinos where they do a so called 'closed circuit' room screening). Still great atmosphere during a fight night all over town, draws so many more tourists in, even if the vast majority are not even watching it. Hoards of Philippinos milling about just as it was with Mancs when Hatton was here!

Roll on the Mayweather-Pacman showdown...

With regards the Pacquioa v Cotto fight, I really couldn't call it. But in the fight I expected a bit more from Cotto tbh. Still, it was a cracking contest and worth getting up for.

Mayweather is now on the bandwagon saying Bring It On....accusing Pacman of being one dimensional and predictable.

A Pacman v Mayweather contest will be the fight of the century. Akin to Sugar Ray v Marvellous all those years ago. I can't wait!!!!

Mayweather will try and price himself out of the Pacquiao fight.

Just watched an interview with Floyd Maywether and he dont think that is the case. Im not even sure if Manny Pacquiao wants the fight.FW pointed out that they asked MP on 4 different occasions do you want to fight FM and not once did he reply yes. I also think if the do have a pight FW is entitled to more money than MP.

Why should he get more money? He says he is the face of boxing, but this is patently untrue. Manny brings more to the table in terms of support, popularity and recognition. Floyd is trying to engineer a situation whereby it appears that Manny is the challenger and should therefore take less money. Pacquiao ducks no-one. Believe me, he will want the fight.

The bloke is undefeated and Manny needs this fight more than he does to prove his greatness. I would love to see Manny beat him but i think Floyd is just to good that Manny wont be able to hit him

You're getting suckered into Floyd's selective presentation of the facts. If this fight doesn't happen it will leave more of a question mark on Floyd's legacy than Manny's.
