Lol, now I understand, we are talking football and not Rugby !! SS1 it is indeed, the RU between Ireland and Australia is on tomorrow on BBC2. At least I know I'm not going mad now !!! Too much sport to keep track of, RL ( must watch), RU, Football and Cricket to name but 4 !

The home leg is on RTE 2 here tonight, but it looks like the away leg will go to Sky and RTE showing highlights only. The biggest game in their recent history, and their national TV compnay won't shell out for the rights.

It'll be on. RTÉ and Sky are just playing hard ball until the last possible moment.

 

Not that I'm worried as I'll be in the press box at the Stade de France! Might have to hope there is no free booze there so I don't forget myself in the heat of the moment.

That is one of the most disgusting goals ever.

 

Offside from the free-kick - no excuse for the lino missing that + Henry chest-passing (in the B'ball sense) the ball to Gallas.

It was always going to happen. Pity that it couldn't be a goal of quality, instead of another player deliberately cheating. Henry should be ashamed of himself, he won't give a toss about cheating, nor will anyone else in football - but what can be done about it.

 

It's just rough justice on the Irish as they have been clearly the superior side over both legs. Let's hope they get one to go through.

Awesome, Slovenia have qualified - loads of shots of really hot birds at the Worlds Cub. On the downside it was Russia they beat so you win some, you lose some.

 

Further to that, I doubt many of them will go to Sowt Afffrrrrika so it's moot.

 

Good post all the same though, benjii.

Seriously makes me think whats the point?

 

I cant bear cheating, its killing the game and sport in general

 

I know its "part" of it now, before anyone starts, but its making think why bother with the game.

Why? The best team should play in the tournament and over the tw legs the irish were better. The french are going through because of cheating and it really makes me think what is the point of sport when stuff like that happens.

I suspect you wouldn't be laughing about it if France did the same to England in several months time at a knockout stage?

That was said before the last WC too...

 

Think we said it two years ago before the Euros. They got destroyed by Holland (I was living in Amsterdam at the time and laughed my arse off :D) and played out a bore draw of Hull vs Pompey standards.

Listening to the radio they come across a if I should.

The day one if the local nations care one bit about England is the day I may care about Ireland

Prolly not, but it would be expected...its usually the England way to get knocked out by something controversal.. ;)

Yep cant wait - build up for all the excitement of a World Cup and then get angry over getting knocked out for something like that. I hate following England. :rolleyes:

You are a complete **** what is funny about a team being cheated out of a place at the world cup. The Irish were brillant tonight for a team with little talent and may be a 2nd rate team but if England should as much heart and put as much effort in as they did we would have won a more than one Major tournament. I suppose you also found it funny when Maradonna cheated England.

The Irish, welsh, scots love it... Really love it when we get done over in a world cup. They love it more so when we get cheated or hard done by.. So excuse me if I am not bothered at all about the paddys being done this time

 

as I have said, if keane or duff took their chances then henry could have started juggling the ball in the net and it would not have mattered.

I've never really found the Irish to have the chip of jealousy on the shoulder the way the Scots and Welsh do. Apart from that IRA bunch, of course.

Tis true....Irish, Welsh, Scots are very insular in their ways and would probably be celebrating in the streets if England had been knocked out in such circumstances.

 

So, maybe, it's just rough justice and will be forgot about by the weekend.

 

Had to laugh at people on TV saying that it was instinctive, as if instinctive cheating isn't cheating and makes it justifiable. His mindset was to cheat, it could have just as instinctively chose not to handle the ball but a conscious decision was made to handle the ball. What's the difference - none.

 

Anyway, like TDD has stated, they'd not give a toss about us so maybe I am just being a bit soft this evening.
