Jackie@home Posted 14 November, 2009 Posted 14 November, 2009 Graham Potter was known as Pansy Potter in our household, due to to tackling abilities.
Crab Lungs Posted 14 November, 2009 Posted 14 November, 2009 Delap? Jakobsson? Bernard? Kanchelskis? Arias? Tahar? Just a few very recent 1s? I'd definitely nominate Jakobsson and Nilsson. ******* woeful.
The Cat Posted 14 November, 2009 Posted 14 November, 2009 Phil Warner was quite bad. Didn't he get subbed during the first half against Arsenal at Highbury after being torn apart by Limpar?
corsacar saint Posted 14 November, 2009 Posted 14 November, 2009 How about Lew Chatterly against bottom of the table[ and already adrift at christmas] Sheffield Wednesday in 1975, he was certainly not liked then by the dell crowd.
Paul Chuckle Posted 14 November, 2009 Posted 14 November, 2009 Amazed Kevin Gibbens hasn't been mentioned. And to think he played in prem. Terrible player.
ulstersaint Posted 15 November, 2009 Posted 15 November, 2009 He was good. Makin was half decent compared with the rest of the rubbish listed. Glad someone mentioned Euell - a lot of money for scant return. Who was the Swedish winger bought in the Lowe-era? He was dross, too.
dubai_phil Posted 15 November, 2009 Posted 15 November, 2009 MLT was asked last night Who, APART from Ali Dia was the worst player you ever played with? The answer was John Gittens. "and what was worse, was we thought we'd got rid of him then Chris Nicholl went and re-signed him)" Have to say I'd forgotten him but yes... HTH
SaintRichmond Posted 15 November, 2009 Posted 15 November, 2009 Cr*p keepers? Paul Jones. Plenty of evidence. Also, Blayney was awful apart from that save, which was lucky. My vote would be for Dave McClaren, bought by Ted Bates, from Wolves, AFTER we had beaten them 9-3 at the Dell Worst ever signing by Ted (God Bless him) Second choice Ivan Katalinic .... or Catastrophic as I used to call him:D
beatlesaint Posted 15 November, 2009 Posted 15 November, 2009 Makin was half decent compared with the rest of the rubbish listed. Glad someone mentioned Euell - a lot of money for scant return. Who was the Swedish winger bought in the Lowe-era? He was dross, too. Neilsen wasn't it......came on against Spurs I think it was, put in a lovely cross for the goal and we won 1-0 in the relegation season. The only thing he did - dross indeed.
benjii Posted 15 November, 2009 Posted 15 November, 2009 Amazed Kevin Gibbens hasn't been mentioned. And to think he played in prem. Terrible player. I remember going to Upton Park and watching us win 4-2 ( I think!) with Gibbens bossing the middle of the pitch!
SamKimish Posted 15 November, 2009 Posted 15 November, 2009 Chris Makin was a decent loan signing IMHO, definitely not as bad as Bernard, Davenport and Jackobsson.
ringwood Posted 15 November, 2009 Posted 15 November, 2009 no ones mentioned the player who could'nt hit a barn door yet had played for Man U, Barcelona, and Chelsea Mark Hughes along with Stuart Ripley , both brought in when Dave Jones added 'quality' to the squad !
greg_hill Posted 15 November, 2009 Posted 15 November, 2009 The most hilarious thin about the Potter fiasco was that there was some Premier League Handbook released at the start of the season with a profile of each club including a focus on one player. Our focus was Potter and to this day I can recall some of the words. There was something like "His mazy runs through the defence and his awareness could cause problems for many defenders this season. This young player may prove to be the bargain of the season". Didn't quite work out that way, did it?
stknowle Posted 15 November, 2009 Posted 15 November, 2009 Phil Warner was quite bad. Didn't he get subbed during the first half against Arsenal at Highbury after being torn apart by Limpar? It was Overmars although Limpar would have done as well. And another thing - Neil McCann was quite stunningly awful. Had all the skill and pace of a dead tortoise.
beatlesaint Posted 15 November, 2009 Posted 15 November, 2009 Neil McCann was quite stunningly awful. Had all the skill and pace of a dead tortoise. Bloody hell i forgot all about him - he was very poor to say the least. We have had so much dross in this decade alone that its almost scary. You could compile 3 teams worth of our rubbish since about 2000 alone ! Anyone mentioned Olivier Bernard yet ?
treggs23 Posted 16 November, 2009 Posted 16 November, 2009 That does seem to ring a bell, thought his first name was Russ for some reason, but Matt Robinson does sound about right! You're thinking of Russ Watkinson...I seem to recall he was a midfielder but only saw him play once I think so who knows...
hughieslastminutegoal Posted 16 November, 2009 Posted 16 November, 2009 In goal - Woods Defenders - Powell, Potter, Todd, Bernard, Jackobsson, Makin, Lancashire, Molyneux, Davenport, O'Halloran Midfield - McCann, Bleidelis, Pulis, Arias, Sarmiento, Chala, Ripley Up front - Moody, Dia, Rosler, Dixon, Speedie, Pericard, Robertson, Pekhart, Euell, Maskell Just being bad is bad enough, but being half decent and just not caring AT ALL makes Ripley the absolute worst in my book. Didn't want to be here, couldn't be bothered to play, wanted the money. Worse than a benefits cheat IMO.
The Majestic Channon Posted 16 November, 2009 Posted 16 November, 2009 What about christer warren and that keeper, keith 11 goals conceded in 2 apperances granger?
Hatch Posted 16 November, 2009 Posted 16 November, 2009 MLT was asked last night Who, APART from Ali Dia was the worst player you ever played with? The answer was John Gittens. "and what was worse, was we thought we'd got rid of him then Chris Nicholl went and re-signed him)" Have to say I'd forgotten him but yes... HTH LOL, forgotten about him. Shocking.
Super_Uwe Posted 16 November, 2009 Posted 16 November, 2009 Unless I'm mistaken I don't think this guy has been mentioned - Jacinto Ela Eyene! Never saw him play so can't really comment on whether he was crap or not, but he never played so that's usually a reasonable yardstick... I suppose we got star struck at signing a up-and-coming Spanish star, hey ho. Could've been the next Fabregas or David Villa lol!
Super_Uwe Posted 16 November, 2009 Posted 16 November, 2009 Just check out Jacinto on wiki by the way.....journeyman would be the only word to use I am afraid to say!!!
SW5 SAINT Posted 16 November, 2009 Posted 16 November, 2009 In goal - Woods Defenders - Powell, Potter, Todd, Bernard, Jackobsson, Makin, Lancashire, Molyneux, Davenport, O'Halloran Midfield - McCann, Bleidelis, Pulis, Arias, Sarmiento, Chala, Ripley Up front - Moody, Dia, Rosler, Dixon, Speedie, Pericard, Robertson, Pekhart, Euell, Maskell Marshallog must be a shoe in for any worst side!
