Who really cares about England v Brazil

John Boy Saint

Recommended Posts

I was with a customer today talking Football, when he just turned around and said "I am amazed at how many people are not interested in the England v Brazil game". I inadvertently qualified his statement by asking "when is the game on?".

Just out of interest who on here is really interested in this game.

If you are not that bothered do you think its because with the FA selling the rights to an obscure satellite TV station, that has now gone bust, has diluted your enthusiasm to watch minor England Internationals.

or

Because Saints are playing well at the moment is your enjoyment of this uncommon phenomena blocking out your interest in much else in the Footie World beyond Saints.

Will be interesting to see how we do against them, but I have decided to cover a shift at work and get extra dosh instead.

I don't think that whatever the result it will give much insight into what might happen if they meet each

other in The World Cup proper. I would not expect either team to be showing off any new tricks they might have.

We're interested down here!!

Simply because it's an evening with MLT...

TV coverage of England Footie games down here is very scarce, so tbh unless it's a big competition we really don't bother. The sat provider who does coverage of the CL and some England games costs like 60 quid a month so it really isn't worth it, and with beer at 5 quid a pint, who wants to go to the pub and spend 40 quid on drinks for two to watch a meaningless friendly.

Doha is like 45 minutes away by our version of Easyjet, but haven't met anyone who's going.

However, in the greater scheme of things political it IS an important match.

England were forced into the game because it's a reciprocal deal for having them play the first game at Wembley, and while they are here it is about getting the Asian FA delegate to support our WC 2018 bid (Qatar want to host the WC in 2022) so our overpaid heroes are down here doing their thing for the suits, not for the fans

Always want England to win, but to be honest can never really get behind them. Its the Saints for me all the time and only really watch England if we have one of our players in the squad (rare admitedly! and i wonder when it will next happen?).

Same with the world cup, always watch the games with saints or ex saints in.

Makes me pretty sad i know!

Personally I just don't care about the match. I can get excited about these overpaid egotistical halfwits when national pride is at stake in a major competition, but in pointless friendlies I can't.

Nail on head imo although half the team that will be in Africa will somehow pick up an injury and won't be available for this friendly until the next league match. Sunday can't come quick enough though.

i am not that bothered...funny how many injuries crop up when friendly games come around....

IMO, the players SHOULD be all for any England game, even more so during world cup season...ffs

I don't think there are too many "injuries of convenience" with Capello as manager. Certain players knew they would get away with it under Sven and McCLOWNren. Capello has proven that he won't take any sh!t and nobody is guaranteed a World Cup place.

Is that the Steve McLaren who is clearly proving himself as the best English club manager in the world?

It's also the Steve McLaren who managed to finish behind Croatia and Russia in the qualifying group and couldn't even get a draw at home to the Croats to save his own arse.

Half of those egotistical halfwits are "injured" for the friendly, not so surprisingly.

Er, yes, he's doing a good job in Holland at the moment with unfancied Twente - I've actually been really surprised.

However, I think Roy Hodgson might have something to say about your claim.

This is crap.

That must be the biggest understatement ever!

How the hell does SWP get picked? Bent is static but no support ....massive gap between strikers and midfield. When we get the ball we go back....and back and back....they have no left back and a masive gap to exploit.

Brazil might just up the tempo in a bit and swat us away.

Forecast 2-0 Brazil if we carry on like this.

Brazil are SO much better on the ball than us - so confident

Yes, bear in mind that only about five of that England 'B' team will be going to South Africa. The real team are injured.

Which does worry me, as I don't see many out there who are making me think they can take one of the regulars place in the England team.

It's time for Capello to cut the wheat from the chaff and stop fiddling about with 'good, but not that good' type of players, such as Bent, Jenas and Brown, then again, maybe his hand is forced unless he looks at players from lower Premiership clubs or the Championship.

I really do think that Kevin Davies would be a fantastic target man and could easily play the role that Capello wants Bent to play.....am I on my own?

BT - I think this team would be a match against most of the top 10 teams in the world, but are clearly short against brazil. A full strength England team would be a match IMO.

Whoever said SWP was not worthy of a place in the team is crazy, as he has looked superb tonight

the one on ITV? :D

He's been the only player who has shown some intent going forward and actually runs at their back line.

[this is why i love football, btw - 2 people watching the same match, 2 very differing opinions]

His passing has been shocking (as have most of the England players) - Shouldn't be taken to South Africa, Lennon is miles better.

hes been one of the best of a bad bunch

Im sorry, im all for varying opinions, debate is healthy, but tonight SWP was way off the pace.

He over hit passes to team mates 5 yards away on a constant basis

He checked inside on numerous occasions

Failed to notice his fullback making at least 4 overlapping runs, thus resulting in our right side being bomabarded in the first half

Trying to over compensate with his pace, rather than using his nouce taking on opponents

Crossing into dangerous areas was poor

Numerous short corners, wasting oppertunities to put Brazil under pressure at set pieces.

All in all I think there are 3 automatic players in front of SWP for the RM and he would be nowhere near my England squad.

I am not Fabio Capello though so its all imaterial
