I get the impression Pards is going to rest one or two regulars. I wouldn't be surprised to see Perry and Thomas start together at the back either. Will Connolly get his first home start at St. Mary's?
Bakovnetski Posted 11 November, 2009 Posted 11 November, 2009 Cant see that. Trottman will come back in at centre back and maybe Thomas at RB to give LJ a rest. Can see Hammond in the middle rather than Wootton and maybe Lambo gets a rest on the bench and Patterson starts with Connelly.
dubai_phil Posted 11 November, 2009 Posted 11 November, 2009 Hammond seems to have been carrying a knock last couple of games, so he may get rested which would mean Mellis coming in to MF. Otherwise I wouldn't change things. Think it is a good idea to give Lambo & Connelly more game time together but look to give them a breather after an hour or so Other than that it will be a case of who's on what yellow cards and which games we need them for the most

That team sure does look good Think Lallana might be rested, and replaced by Mills/Holmes, and I think Papa might get a game instead of Antonio, especially now it seems Antonio is first choice.

Saint_Jonny Posted 11 November, 2009 Posted 11 November, 2009 Just watched AP's saints player preview of tonights game, looks like he wants to name his strongest line up and was quite blunt with the reporter when he was asked if he would rest any players, so expect to see the team he thinks is our best starting 11. I think he'll switch back to one up front and pack the midfield to try and combat Chartons obvious midfield threat. Lambo on his own up top until we need to bring on DC to wrap things up. If it were me i'd start as we did against BR, but thats why im not a footy coach!

Professor Posted 11 November, 2009 Posted 11 November, 2009 In his piece on the OS, Pardew says that he may rest one of two as he can't expect every player to play every game, but he also says that he will maybe mark one or two that their performances have to be better. So whoever gets left out might be in the manager's sights. Wonder who he is thinking of?

The only player I can think of is maybe Jaidi....he's been a little shaky on occasions over the last few games. I'm comparing that to the first few games he played for us....he's still pretty immense though.

Makes me think that he'll stick with a five man midfield and not rest Hammond or Wotton. How annoyed would we all be if it happened in a minor cup game. Yes, there this is always a (slight) risk for any match but we need him for all 46 L1 matches. It would also give the reserve goalie (Bart?) a run out. Am I the only one to worry about this?

Well, I'm not worried about it anyway He could be rested then trip up in the carpark and break his leg. You can only wrap the players up in cotton wool so much. The JPT is fairly important for us because we have a good chance of winning it, so I think he should play.

Is it just me who feels that there is something missing in the Itchen. A reluctance to sing, rather nice and kind, a bit of the masculinity of a football crowd missing.
