Doesn't appear to be a thread on this yet, so lets get one going.

Any ideas on the team for tonight?

I get the impression Pards is going to rest one or two regulars.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Perry and Thomas start together at the back either.

Will Connolly get his first home start at St. Mary's?

Posted

Cant see that. Trottman will come back in at centre back and maybe Thomas at RB to give LJ a rest. Can see Hammond in the middle rather than Wootton and maybe Lambo gets a rest on the bench and Patterson starts with Connelly.

Hammond seems to have been carrying a knock last couple of games, so he may get rested which would mean Mellis coming in to MF. Otherwise I wouldn't change things.

Think it is a good idea to give Lambo & Connelly more game time together but look to give them a breather after an hour or so

Other than that it will be a case of who's on what yellow cards and which games we need them for the most

-----------Davis

James Trotman Jaidi Harding

Antonio Mellis Morgan Lallana

------Lambert Connolly

Let's go for it.

That team sure does look good :D

Think Lallana might be rested, and replaced by Mills/Holmes, and I think Papa might get a game instead of Antonio, especially now it seems Antonio is first choice.

I'm pretty sure, reading AP's article on the OS that one or two will be rested.

Just watched AP's saints player preview of tonights game, looks like he wants to name his strongest line up and was quite blunt with the reporter when he was asked if he would rest any players, so expect to see the team he thinks is our best starting 11. I think he'll switch back to one up front and pack the midfield to try and combat Chartons obvious midfield threat. Lambo on his own up top until we need to bring on DC to wrap things up.

If it were me i'd start as we did against BR, but thats why im not a footy coach! :)

In his piece on the OS, Pardew says that he may rest one of two as he can't expect every player to play every game, but he also says that he will maybe mark one or two that their performances have to be better. So whoever gets left out might be in the manager's sights. Wonder who he is thinking of?

The only player I can think of is maybe Jaidi....he's been a little shaky on occasions over the last few games. I'm comparing that to the first few games he played for us....he's still pretty immense though.

I think Jaidi, Hammond, Wotton and maybe James or even Davis will be rested.

Thomas hasn't played much but did at the weekend and did well. Trotman and Mellis were "rested" at BR so will probably come in. Davis and James have played every game, so probably due a rest.

If we change our team that much we will lose.

Davis doesn't need a rest, he hardly has to do anything.

Wotton hasn't started the last couple of games so doesn't need a rest.

Jaidi and Hammond are the only two I might agree with.

I dont want to see too many 'rested.' I really want us to win this game and progress as far as possible in the competition. Leaving 4/5 of our best players out could effect the balance of a settled side.

Probably why Pards has said he might change 1 or 2 :D

I think Hammond needs resting, he has been good for us so far this season and much as I want a day out at Wembly would rather he was saved for the league game on Sunday when we will , with any luck no longer be in the relegation zone

Pardew makes a point in his preview that Charlton 'have a very string midfield so that's an area we need to be strong in'.

Makes me think that he'll stick with a five man midfield and not rest Hammond or Wotton.

I reckon it will be...

---------------Davis

James---Trotman--Perry---Harding

------------Wotton

------Hammond----Schneiderlin

Antonio----------------------Lallana

-------------Lambert

With Waigo and Connolly as impact subs on the bench along with Mills, Thomas and Bart

Why? Are you not 'ard enough? ;-)

Looking forward to the game; not looking forward to not being in the Northam.

Got a season ticket in the Northam, I'm just elsewhere tonight. Read thoroughly young Will.

I apologise immensely. So you think you ARE 'ard enough on a weekly basis then? ;)

Can see Mellis getting a start, other then that will probs be a near enough strongest XI.

Or maybe a similar team to against Brizzle with maybe Wotton in for Hammond.

To be fair, who knows!! I'd be excited to see a very strong team though.

The issue is that he will pick up an injury.

How annoyed would we all be if it happened in a minor cup game.

Yes, there this is always a (slight) risk for any match but we need him for all 46 L1 matches. It would also give the reserve goalie (Bart?) a run out.

Am I the only one to worry about this?

Yes. Well, I'm not worried about it anyway :D

He could be rested then trip up in the carpark and break his leg. You can only wrap the players up in cotton wool so much. The JPT is fairly important for us because we have a good chance of winning it, so I think he should play.

Means you will have a decent view of the game if in the Itchen rather than the appalling one you get from being behind one of the goals.

Posted

I've got my seat in the Kingsland and am displaced to the Itchen. Is it just me who feels that there is something missing in the Itchen. A reluctance to sing, rather nice and kind, a bit of the masculinity of a football crowd missing.

Posted

Will be leaving soon. It's gonna be a good game no matter what i reckon. Charlton will be wanting to put their last result behind them so we'd better be careful. We can win this no problem though.

Posted
Are you currently going or not going? Get your backside down and support the team! :D

Not going. If I go and it heads to penalties I shall have to leave before them in order to get back in time for the train.
