Dean Ashton?

Hang on. Are some of you trying to suggest that Pardew hasn't done a fantastic job on Connolly? Why on earth shouldn't he be given a chance with Ashton? This is just the usual defeatism that I always seem to hear. Can't believe people are getting on Pardew's back already :(

Lol - I had to check that it wasn't 1st April

No one has said that Pardew hasn't done a great job with Connolly. But Ashton? He's been told by the best doctors in their field that he won't play again and that he has to give up the game - the guy is struggling to walk ffs.

Thats not defeatism, thats the reality of situation.

Of course if Dalek had got his way and a certain former manager was back here then who knows what would be possible in terms of spiritual healing.... ;)

To be honest, this is why so many people have stopped posting on the main board. It is constant negativity. I don't know what it is about Saints fans, but they could see the bad in everything. I guess year after year of misery has caused it! Pardew has instilled a positive, winning mentality within the team, maybe he could do the same with the fans. He's taken a player who hadn't played in 18 months and has made him one of the most feared strikers in the country. Don't ask me how he did, I don't know.....but some time faith is needed. I have faith in Pardew. I'm not saying he has healing hands or any of the oher things people have said on this thread. I'm not saying he's a witchdoctor or into voodoo, I honestly don't know what his secret is, but the success with Connolly is there for all to see.

Let's not write off Pardew just yet, eh? And I think it would be a brave man to say that Ashton will never be seen playing again. Someone famous once said "never say never" and that was before we knew of Pardews abilities.

Are you for real?

Connolly had an injury that could heal, it just took time. Ashton is categorically fooked.

Maybe you think Pardew should have a look at this guy too?

Are you not reading what people are saying? Ashton has been told that if he plays again it may prevent him ever walking on that leg for the rest of his life. Would you risk your mobility for the next 60 years just to play football?
