Darren Ferguson Sacked?

Harsh, he's done really well there.

The one problem he's had this year is the inability to strengthen the squad....if you have a settled/confident team you can get back to back promotions from L2 > L1 without adding too many players, but the champ. is another level...and i think he was pretty much laid out to dry by not being able to add to the team.

No disrespect to Peterborough, but who can they attract with a similar rep.? I think they've just shot themselves in the foot.

What is the world coming to. He's won back to back promotions and then his sacked 16 games into the season. The Championship is more competitive than it has been for years with so many former premiership teams and the fans shouldn't be aiming any higher than staying up. Getting relegated then going back up again could well be good for them in the long term.

P'boro charman last month...

''Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony says boss Darren Ferguson will retain his full backing as long as the team remain committed on the pitch.

Posh have taken just seven points from their 11 league matches this season.

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "Of course I will give Darren time to turn things around. As long as the endeavour is there we'll be alright.

"Even if the worst was to happen and we get relegated, we'd have a manager who knows how to get out of League One."'

something else must have happened to instigate this...?

I just dont get it. I was born in Peterborough, and look out for their results, and he's done a fantastic job for the last 3 seasons, apart from the last 26 matches.

he's not had the opportunity to get in new players, but has picked picked some awesome lower league players

He's compiled a cracking squad of players there. Joe Lewis, Boyd, Mackail-Smith, McLean all good players that good do a job at a top Championship club/lower end Prem club. Good, young manager from lets face it, excellent stock who has gone about his business without having to call upon "Daddy" for bundles of loan signings etc... Who on earth is possibly going to want that job that is more capable than Darren Ferguson?
