alki_in_korea Posted 7 November, 2009 Posted 7 November, 2009 http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/06112009/58/fa-cup-round-saints-cup.html I was sure we won the cup in 76. I know it doesn't matter but if they are paid to do a job. Why not do it properly
Footballfan Posted 7 November, 2009 Posted 7 November, 2009 I have just read it on another site, they don't even send their own reporters to our games just, all the reports are the same.
alki_in_korea Posted 7 November, 2009 Author Posted 7 November, 2009 its gay why the hell are we not deemed good enough for proper reporters and proper research. Even my kids in korea know we won the cup in 76 and they dont even know english properly yet
saintquin Posted 7 November, 2009 Posted 7 November, 2009 "And just five minutes later Connolly effectively booked the 1977 Cup winners' place in round " So Connolly now plays for Man Utd! When was the last time they played in the first round?
chrisobee Posted 8 November, 2009 Posted 8 November, 2009 May 1st 1976 Indeed, how can we forget! Very lazy journalism not to get such an easy fact right.
saint peach Posted 8 November, 2009 Posted 8 November, 2009 I'd like to apologise on behalf of Press Association for this. I work there and I'm in the office now. Just told those involved about the mistake - they looked pretty embarassed. If I was further up the hierachy I'd put a rocket up them... Anyway, rest assured that there will be fewer mistakes while I'm writing the copy. In fact, there will be much more Saints coverage if I have my way.

If you also have to apologise for much of the other drivel that is written, you're gonna have a hell of a job on your hands ! Good luck !

Saintandy666 Posted 8 November, 2009 Posted 8 November, 2009 Might have been a typo, but they should check that kind of stuff.
saint peach Posted 8 November, 2009 Posted 8 November, 2009 Check your own copy first. Embarrassed, are you?! Yeah, was going to proof read it but dindt av tiem cos im working on other tings. I do apologise for making a mistake on an internet forum. My bad.
St Landrew Posted 8 November, 2009 Posted 8 November, 2009 Yeah, was going to proof read it but dindt av tiem cos im working on other tings. I do apologise for making a mistake on an internet forum. My bad. Indeed. Those that criticise could look to their own mistakes. Last time I looked, peice was spelled [or spelt, for the pedants] piece. Perhaps we can break out some peace, at this point. We can all do typos. What really annoys is lazy journalistic opinion without foundation or fact to back it up.

But you didn't notice that hierarchy wasn't spelt correctly?!
Rocker268 Posted 8 November, 2009 Posted 8 November, 2009 "Connolly, making his first start after joining Saints as a free agent" apparently he hasn't played for us before, just our imagination obviously. Good luck with keeping things in order, it seems to need it
Fowllyd Posted 8 November, 2009 Posted 8 November, 2009 "Connolly, making his first start after joining Saints as a free agent" apparently he hasn't played for us before, just our imagination obviously. Good luck with keeping things in order, it seems to need it It was Connolly's first start. All his previous appearances had been as a substitute. HTH
Rocker268 Posted 8 November, 2009 Posted 8 November, 2009 It was Connolly's first start. All his previous appearances had been as a substitute. HTH Good point, didn't really think of it like that. The opening sentence mentions a second half debut double which probably would have been better
Fan The Flames Posted 8 November, 2009 Posted 8 November, 2009 The 7 is next to the 6 on the keyboard, typo rather than mistake maybe.
SNSUN Posted 8 November, 2009 Posted 8 November, 2009 Almost as sloppy a piece of journalism as in the Mirror today - it said that Portsmouth's George Boateng was in the team of the month for October. That'ws wrong on two levels - 1) It's Kevin Prince not George, and 2) No Pompey players deserve to be anywhere near it.
St Landrew Posted 9 November, 2009 Posted 9 November, 2009 But you didn't notice that hierarchy wasn't spelt correctly?! Oh yes I did. I also noticed saint peach had forgotten to complete the line... ...on behalf of [the] Press Association... But that's not what the subject was about, was it..? And I thought I'd managed to cover all the angles. If you going to be pedantic, it might help if you read the entire thread.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 9 November, 2009 Posted 9 November, 2009 Oh yes I did. I also noticed saint peach had forgotten to complete the line... ...on behalf of [the] Press Association... All I can say is things must be improving on the football front if all we can argue about on the forum now is spelling!
St Landrew Posted 9 November, 2009 Posted 9 November, 2009 All I can say is things must be improving on the football front if all we can argue about on the forum now is spelling! Yep, it's a refreshing change. What will we do without all the controversy..?
Nadia Sllim Posted 9 November, 2009 Posted 9 November, 2009 Front of todys Daily Echo says ? Cherries beat Colchester , I thought it was Chesterfield!!! Great proof reading!
John B Posted 10 November, 2009 Posted 10 November, 2009 http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/06112009/58/fa-cup-round-saints-cup.html I was sure we won the cup in 76. I know it doesn't matter but if they are paid to do a job. Why not do it properly I think it was a good piece of Journalism although the detail was incorrect as the article highlighted how far we have fallen I dont expect there have been many former cup winners in Round 1 except for Leeds and Man City recently
Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 10 November, 2009 Posted 10 November, 2009 At least they spelt Connolly correctly which is more than most people on here can do.
