miserableoldgit Posted 6 November, 2009 Posted 6 November, 2009 Just listened to a very good play on Radio 4 called "The Tony Kay Scandal" which was about the betting scandal that came to light in the 60`s. Well worth a listen when it is available on i-player.
spyinthesky Posted 6 November, 2009 Posted 6 November, 2009 Remember Tony Kay (left half), Bronco Layne (CF) and Peter Swan (CH), all playing for Sheff Weds in a pre season friendly v Saints at The Dell in 1963/4? 3-3 draw All of them good players. Waste of talent for littel reward Tony Kay went on to Everton for big money (at the time)

spyinthesky Posted 7 November, 2009 Posted 7 November, 2009 Apart rom the Sheff Weds trio, I think Pompeys GK at the time, **** Beattie, was also implicated in a match fixing scam
