Fan The Flames Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 I think both FF and I are very happy for AP to make his decisions, which he will. It's the fans expectations that I am pleading are kept in check. On this thread there are already those who considers his name for Friday, ahead of both Thomas and Perry. A youngster who just arrived from the league below the conference ahead of two seasoned professionals! Please, give the young lad a chance and he might turn into something spectacular. The lad is 6ft2 and 20 years old with first team football experience, he might not need that much nurturing. I agree, not with the high expectations as that's football fans all over, but that fan's reactions are tempered if he has a bad game.
altoniansaints Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 undisclosed fee at the request of SFC, eastleigh fans wishing him well; http://eastleighfc.workinprogress.co.uk/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=ad587e1e29b4bb6f6ed2e2afee17aba0&topic=3260.0 But if a fee has been paid how come cause we outside the window? is there a clause about non league players?
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Think I'll leave it to Pardew's judgement. You can't resist your little digs Hypo can you? Of course I will leave it to AP's judgement and I will back that judgement, after all he knows a lot more than any fan, but I was anxious that too many high fan expectations could cause unnecessary pressures. Surely that is not a crime to have or state those views. I have heard very good report backs about this lad from those well-placed to make a judgement. I have also seen him play recently in the Cup match v Basingstoke. Imo and in an ideal world he would benefit from a sensible period of adjustment . Hope you can live with that view.
Fan The Flames Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 But its not expectation that causes the problem, its adverse reaction. Football fans the world over are full of high expectations, its how they react when things fall short that's more important.
Saint J 77 Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 I am pleased like most he is a local lad who has done good! I hope he can keep improving and fulfil his potential. It will be nice if he can make it as regular but I am not expecting instance success from him. Good luck to him!

I just dislike the implication that everyone on here is too idiotic to realise that a youngster from the non league is not a shoe-in for the first team. I would have thought that was pretty flipping obvious. To people who don't believe that, well I don't believe it's even worth debating and pointing out something so amazingly obvious.
the saint in winchester Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 the saint in winchester......errr.. if he is that good he will being going to utd money comes before loyalty these days I think you'll find there'll be a change of attitude from a few young players now. We've seen so many go to - at best, sit on the subs bench; at worst, be loaned out to lower level clubs.
John Cool Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Aston would be the obvious nickname surely. Or G-String? (very rare classical music joke on football forum)

Understand that Hypo but there were fans calling for him to start on Friday!
S-Clarke Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Quite an interesting run down of the deal... ''I do not want to (and will not) get involved in any form of argument about this - and this is my final statement about the Aaron Martin transfer. Firstly, we are all thrilled that Aaron has got his dream move, and we are similarly proud of the part that EFC has played in his development. Secondly, the Directors of the Club are more than happy with the fee we have received, and the potential future enhancements that we have managed to negotiate. A significant "add on" to the transfer was a contractual obligation for SFC to continue their annual friendly fixture. We must emphasise that this has a significant financial impact on our Club, and the value should not be underestimated. Thirdly, the delay in the completeion of this transfer were purely logistical - and neither SFC or EFC were unreasonable or demanding in their negotiations. All parties wanted to be satisfied at the final outcome, and we believe that this is now the situation. As I have previously stated, we have agreed with SFC that the actual fee we received is not to be disclosed - but I can confirm that the amount in question was by far and away a Club record.''
Redondo Saint Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Understand that Hypo but there were fans calling for him to start on Friday! I do believe that Robinson Crusoe will definitely play on Friday...
hypochondriac Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Understand that Hypo but there were fans calling for him to start on Friday! And as I said, Pardew has had a look at him. If he puts him in then he obviously believes he deserves a chance and that's partially what the FA cup is for anyway so I can see the thinking of some. Thanks for the reasonable reply btw.
hypochondriac Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 He's cup-tied. Then clearly FF's original comment is unnecessary, as are my subsequent ones!
Fan The Flames Posted 6 November, 2009 Posted 6 November, 2009 If he doesn't start tonight then I vote for a march through town.
