Johnny Shearer Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 (edited) Hopefully he can make the step up. Edited 5 November, 2009 by Johnny Shearer
thorpie the sinner Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Great news, think this boy could be the real deal with the right handling!
Saint Charlie Posted 4 November, 2009 Author Posted 4 November, 2009 Nice to be aware of the non league scene and nice of Eastleigh to recommend him to us. They have treated him very well. Hopfully they can benefit from some good loan players we send their way!
Stepgar Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Good luck chum and don't let this bunch put too much pressure on you. You just take a bit of time to settle and get used to everything. It is goin to be one hell of a ride. Oh yeah any chance of playing Friday? ;-)
Under Weststand Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Welcome & good luck, hope you can make the step up & make a successful career for yourself. Preferably make a long & prosperous career for both you & Saints.
Andy_Porter Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Lots of hype around this signing compared to some of the other youngsters we've bought in. We signed Saville from Chelsea last season and it wasn't even mentioned on the OS. Always good to see a local lad sign up, hope he can make the grade.
the saint in winchester Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 6'2" centre back, 20 yo. Hopefully he'll have some pace at a young age. Yeah, sounds good. A Saints fan in his childhood, so he won't want to clear off to Liverpool or Man U in a few years. Ticks all the boxes. Good stuff.
Clifford Nelson Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Great to see a local player signing for the club. The best of luck to him! At the same time, can everybody, please, restrain themselves a bit. If he is to set the world alight it won't be in the next year or two, so why not give him the peace to develop in a professional environment rather than shouting for him to be included every time we're a centreback short.
70's Mike Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Great to see a local player signing for the club. The best of luck to him! If he is to set the world alight it won't be in the next year or two, so why not give him the peace to develop in a professional environment rather than shouting for him to be included every time we're a centreback short. my thoughts exactly lets all learn from the bad way we treated youngsters last season
chivvy1664 Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 the saint in winchester......errr.. if he is that good he will being going to utd money comes before loyalty these days
solentstars Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Welcome aboard you Eastleigh Boy! i would have prefered it if he was the swaythling boy:D
Gordon Mockles Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Good luck & well done. Good to see a local lad earning a big step up!
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Great to see a local player signing for the club. The best of luck to him! At the same time, can everybody, please, restrain themselves a bit. If he is to set the world alight it won't be in the next year or two, so why not give him the peace to develop in a professional environment rather than shouting for him to be included every time we're a centreback short. Wise words indeed!
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 It'll be interesting to compare a young player who has risen via the non league route compared to our intensively trained academy/reserve team products - more first team action at a early stage may well have given him an advantage I'd say .
Professor Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Absolutely great! This is what real football is about. Very much hope he makes the grade, he certainly is showing the right attitude.

Not that I know for certain but I could swear someone on here said he's a chelsea fan
Bad Wolf Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 He's a mate of my mate's. Met him a few times, really nice guy. Really down to earth, not big headed in the slightest. Played footy with him at Bitterne once and every mistake people on his team made he just went "Don't worry about it" and "Unlucky". He's captain material but not bossy. He's just good at motivating people. Great lad, good luck to him.
SNSUN Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Investing in youth = long term success. With Dodd signing for the Academy and Martin adding beef to the squad at the back, it can only be a good thing. (Also, with every one of Pardew's signings being a corker so far, let's hope the streak continues.)
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 i would have prefered it if he was the swaythling boy:D Of course! In deference to Eastleigh's history.
BadgerBadger Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Talking about yoof - how's that nipper we signed from Jersey getting on?
Crab Lungs Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 I loved reading that, part of me feels really happy for him fulfilling his dream - or at least having an opportunity to do so. Good Luck Aaron!
VectisSaint Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Good luck to the lad. Interesting that he was an England schoolboy international, wonder where it went wrong - so many top quality schoolboys never quite make it. He clearly must have more talent than your average non-league player. The thing that is puzzling me is how this deal has been done now. I always understood the transfer window applied to all professional clubs. I don't really know what level Easteigh are at (Southern League?) but I'm surprised that a transfer is allowed at the moment.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Good luck to the lad - hope it all goes good for him - 1st team or not.
John Boy Saint Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Well done lad. Sounds an eager beaver willing to learn, just the kind of mental fibre we need in the team.
hypochondriac Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Wise words indeed! Think I'll leave it to Pardew's judgement.
Big John Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Hope we get eastleigh in Round 2 even more now.
Chez Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 local lad desperate to shine at the club. I like it. Best of luck to him.
dubai_phil Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Good luck to the lad. I always understood the transfer window applied to all professional clubs. I don't really know what level Easteigh are at (Southern League?) but I'm surprised that a transfer is allowed at the moment. Old Twitchy could have left some of his scribbled doing transfer deals notes behind in his desk drawer when he ran back to the love of his life.... Meanwhile, also I think it is possible to sign out of contract players in the transfer black-out, so possibly some of the delay has been in his contract being paid off to make him a free agent, complicated I am sure but where there is a will there is always a way. Welcome Aaron and good luck, get your head down, Listen & Learn, work hard stay focused and I'm sure you'll have a great career for us as we walk our way back up the Leagues
Scudamore Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Budget Roy of the Rovers stuff...just imagine him scoring the winning goal in the Paint Pot Trophy!
Fan The Flames Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 whilst I agree with not putting any pressue on him, he is 20 and probably itching to get involve. Stick him in on Friday and if he ****s up have him in for extra training, welcome to the professional world Aaron, all the best for your future at the Saints.
Lets B Avenue Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Good luck chum and don't let this bunch put too much pressure on you. You just take a bit of time to settle and get used to everything. It is goin to be one hell of a ride. Oh yeah any chance of playing Friday? ;-) Will he start against Bristol? whilst I agree with not putting any pressue on him, he is 20 and probably itching to get involve. Stick him in on Friday and if he ****s up have him in for extra training, welcome to the professional world Aaron, all the best for your future at the Saints. He's cup-tied having played for Eastleigh in the last two rounds. HTH.
Fan The Flames Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Get him in a against Brighton, he would have settled enough in two weeks.
S-Clarke Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 We won't be able to pay him until after January surely? How can we ''confirm'' his registration outside of a transfer window? Didn't think that was possible - maybe we've got him on an intiial loan basis?
altoniansaints Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 We won't be able to pay him until after January surely? How can we ''confirm'' his registration outside of a transfer window? Didn't think that was possible - maybe we've got him on an intiial loan basis? Maybe Eastleigh cancelled his contract (if he had one there) thus making him a unregistered player???????
St_Tel49 Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Cant be worse than Lancashire That is exactly the kind of comment that Clifford Nelson was talking about
Chez Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Maybe Eastleigh cancelled his contract (if he had one there) thus making him a unregistered player??????? I think the cancelling of contracts to enable players to become free agents (allowing them to sign outside a window) is not permitted. If it did then we'd see a lot more clubs/players doing it to get round the window rule.
MbaleSaint Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 I don't really know what level Easteigh are at (Southern League?) but I'm surprised that a transfer is allowed at the moment. Eastleigh are in the Conference South, only three divisions below us! They messed up the play-offs last year after being 4-0 up in the first leg away.
Clifford Nelson Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 Think I'll leave it to Pardew's judgement. I think both FF and I are very happy for AP to make his decisions, which he will. It's the fans expectations that I am pleading are kept in check. On this thread there are already those who considers his name for Friday, ahead of both Thomas and Perry. A youngster who just arrived from the league below the conference ahead of two seasoned professionals! Please, give the young lad a chance and he might turn into something spectacular.
derry Posted 5 November, 2009 Posted 5 November, 2009 He's probably signed a contract but hasn't been registered as a league player however can play in the reserves until Jan.
