Eastcowzer Posted 8 November, 2009 Share Posted 8 November, 2009 Haye apparently did it with a broken right hand, (2nd, or 3rd round). Me. I'd have been down to the A & E PDQ.
chrisobee Posted 8 November, 2009 Share Posted 8 November, 2009 the pub i watched it in as soon as it was announced he won turned it off, so didnt even get to see hayes reaction......anyone got any links so i watch post match analysis! chrisobee Posted 8 November, 2009 Share Posted 8 November, 2009 Spot on fight from Haye, showed he is world class. A lot of total morons on this thread before the fight, who clearly had no clue or had never seen Valuev fight before. In truth I'd seen far more of Haye boxing than Valuev but I knew Haye was a classy fighter and the clips I'd seen of Valuev were enough for me to think Haye had a great chance as he proved. Fair to say I'm a fan of Haye, as mentioned I don't believe the ****iness pre fight was anything more than hype. The times I have seen Haye fight and his post fight interviews he comes across as a decent and articulate guy.

Ewell Posted 8 November, 2009 Share Posted 8 November, 2009 Valuev only punched him twice! I know it wasn't pretty, or spectacular, but Haye deserved to win, Valuev was punching fresh air! From my beered up vision I thought the fight was close and the decision could have gone either way. I will stand corrected if I am wrong but that was the way I saw it last night. It is never easy judging it in the hustle and bustle of a pub though. With home advantage I thought Valuev would get the decision. I cannot believe Haye went 12 rounds. Tactically he was spot on and in all his fights I have never seen him box in that way. I am chuffed he won and cannot wait to see him take Wla'd belts. Vitali is the big one though and for me he will be his toughest fight ever. I just hope it is in London so I can be there! :smt062

Lets B Avenue Posted 8 November, 2009 Share Posted 8 November, 2009 Haye thoroughly deserved the win. I hope his next fight is against Jim Watt, whose commentary last night, bordered on the ridiculous. He was calling punches for Valuev that missed Haye by miles. His card had Haye losing by 3. Pension him off please, Sky.

Pension him off please, Sky. 115/113 was Watt's score in favour of Valuev, said he thought Haye might have been too "negative". What rubbish, the 116-112 was about right IMO. Not even sure how one judge could score it even ?

Smirking_Saint Posted 8 November, 2009 Share Posted 8 November, 2009 How is it fixed ?? It was not pretty or spectacular, but Haye stuck to the only tactics that would win, get in, sting him and get out. This is a man that has never been off his feet (though how i don't know, Haye almost did it with what seemed like a glanced connection.....plus i had a 5er on Haye in the 12th, b*stard) so going toe to toe would never work. Valuev looked slow and unsteady, missed almost every swing and was a particularly unispiring boxer. He looked amateurish, Haye boxed the right way against him, no he was not attackingly dominant but was the better boxer, and on that evidence, why should he not have won ?? The Saturday Boy Posted 9 November, 2009 Share Posted 9 November, 2009 I think you will change your mind if you get to watch it again. By the way, how much of a w*nker is Jim Watt? Constantly changing his tune, and very hypocritical. They mentioned on the 5Live commentary that the TV commentators had Valuev down as the winner. Obviously Richie Woodhall and Steve Bunce read the fight better than Watt as they had Haye winning by a minimum of 3 rounds, which was correct. Yes, Richie Woodall and Steve Bunce are both excellent, they know what they are talking about and called the fight just about right. I'm still amazed Watt gave it to Valuez, was he watching a different fight :smt102

Fighters, when going away from home to challenge the title holder (rightly or wrongly), usually have to completely dominate the fight to get a points decision. The way Haye was always going to fight, was to use his skill, hand speed and defensive movement to get in quick to the punch and get out before being caught. Fighting that way, you are never going to dominate the fight as such. Haye also spent 2/3rds of the fight protecting a damaged right hand. He described punching Valuev's chin was akin to punching a brick wall.
OLYMPIC Posted 9 November, 2009 Share Posted 9 November, 2009 I see yesterday that both Klitchkos said they would make him wait to get a shot at them as they didn't take him seriously, and were tired of spending there money to promote or instagate two fights so far which Haye has backed out of against them. Well Haye has to fight John Ruiz next anyway as a mandatory challenge. Hard to see why he would avoid the Klitchos and yet fight something as huge as Valuev. If memory serves wasn't Haye due to fight one of the Klitchos but pulled out through injury ? Either way you'll find it is not the boxer who makes the matches anyway, I have no doubt Haye would fight anyone they put in front of him.
OLYMPIC Posted 9 November, 2009 Share Posted 9 November, 2009 Well for one both of them are a lot more mobile than Valuev and throw plenty of punches in there fights also i think that at least one of them would beat Haye.I can't remember which one it was though that was beating Lennox Lewis until a bad cut stopped the fight. I thought that Haye's management reckoned the pay off Ruiz was given to stand aside in the Valuev fight also ment he gave up his right as mandatory challenger. No, I'm pretty sure that Ruiz still has the right to a mandatory challenge. Wladimir is the better of the 2 Klitchos, it was his fight v Haye that was postponed. However, it was Vitali who fought Lewis in 2003.
The Cat Posted 9 November, 2009 Share Posted 9 November, 2009 Haye will fight Ruiz next, he said so in a press conference earlier. Makes sense too. Ruiz has been world champ 2 or 3 times, is promoted by Don King and is American. This means Haye will get more exposure Stateside even though the fight will probably be at the o2 in London. I'd like to see Haye fight Wladimir first as it's by far the easiest fight of the brothers. Wlad is quicker than his older brother Vitali but has a pretty weak chin. Check out his loss to Corrie Sanders to see what happens when he gets tagged with a decent punch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YboPBVOHn9Q Haye should beat Ruiz comfortably, but will then probably fight Vitali in a much more difficult fight. Dr Ironfist (yeah, really) has a much better chin than his brother and hits a lot harder. Even though he'll be 39 by then I think Haye will struggle to get past Vitali's defence and end up getting KO'd.

As I have said above Haye should take on Wlad and then Vitali once he has got his mandatory against Ruiz out of the way. It could be an exciting couple of years if Haye can break up this Russian dynasty and whatever your views on Haye, surely we all want to see the end of these boring Russian fighters? Vitali has never been knocked down and would present Haye with the bigger challenge. I disagree with myself too!! Was getting the 2 mixed up, Vitali has only ever lost to Lewis ( with a bad cut) and Chris Byrd when he quit with a damaged shoulder. He fights Kevin Johnson on Dec 12th, he is regarded by some as the best of the USA heavyweights though that is not really saying a lot though I believe he is undefeated.
