krissyboy31 Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 4/5 years for Martin Blimey, they must be impressed with him. I thought it would've been 18 months/2 years to see how he goes (unless you mean four-fifths of course )
Master Bates Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 Blimey, they must be impressed with him. I thought it would've been 18 months/2 years to see how he goes (unless you mean four-fifths of course ) Just a hopeful guesstimate. :smt008
NickG Posted 3 November, 2009 Author Posted 3 November, 2009 http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4717593.Antonio_extends_loan_deal/ extended to Jan and available for cup
Saint_John Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 1 month extra for Antonio. This suggests to me that he will be allowed to play on Friday by Reading. Otherwise we would have left the one month extension until the weekend so that it would cover the Walsall game on the 5th Dec.
alpine_saint Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4717593.Antonio_extends_loan_deal/ extended to Jan and available for cup Excellent news. I hope we buy him them then
NickG Posted 3 November, 2009 Author Posted 3 November, 2009 guess he will be cheap as here, keen, unproven elsewhere and nearing end of contract
itchen_dan Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 Great News!! Shame about Trotman though - Gonna be a huge miss IMO
alpine_saint Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 Great News!! Shame about Trotman though - Gonna be a huge miss IMO Hopefully Perry will come in keen to prove a point.
krissyboy31 Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 Great News!! Shame about Trotman though - Gonna be a huge miss IMO Yes but It's not as if we're going into the competition with a realistic chance of getting past the 4th or 5th round. Better he's available for the League and JPT IMO. If we can extend his loan period or better still buy him in January, he'll be available from Round 3 anyway (if we're still in of course).
beatlesaint Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 Hopefully Perry will come in keen to prove a point. or Thomas ! Cant believe Chelsea dont want Mellis cup tied though.
alpine_saint Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 or Thomas ! Cant believe Chelsea dont want Mellis cup tied though. Prefer Perry. Chelsea just being awkward. Probably a generic club policy about loans
OldNick Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 Prefer Perry. Chelsea just being awkward. Probably a generic club policy about loansNo they're frightened of playing us lol
MerceSaint28 Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 A point being that he is past it. Sorry but Perry is no longer up to scratch. If we cannnot sign Trotters, which i have not entirely rules out, we should look at the other talented centre halves in the league like young Tamika Mkawindra from Leyton Orient who scored against us. Having seen first hand the value of 2 bruising centre halves we do not want to revert to our old ways
RonManager Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 A point being that he is past it. Sorry but Perry is no longer up to scratch. I see what you did there. Ska rules!!
Smirking_Saint Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 Who is this martin then ?? Any good ??
supersonic Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 Now on OS http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1845791,00.html I have heard from a reliable source that Reading see him as "surplus to requirements" I can't for the life of me see why but oh well, one mans junk and all that...
eurosaint Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 or Thomas ! Cant believe Chelsea dont want Mellis cup tied though. Chelski are not allowed to buy/loan anybody at the moment and they'll also lose a few players to the African Cup of Nations, so it might be that they find themselves a bit short come January ?? Can't think of any other reason because he did not appear too close to the first team before we got him !!!
thorpie the sinner Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 Has the Martin deal run into trouble then?
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 Now on OS http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1845791,00.html I have heard from a reliable source that Reading see him as "surplus to requirements" I can't for the life of me see why but oh well, one mans junk and all that... I wonder if Reading's apparent willingness to allow Antonio to play in the FA Cup might mean a 'Gentleman's Agreement' now exists between the two clubs to make this transfer permanent in January ?
scotty Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 I wonder if Reading's apparent willingness to allow Antonio to play in the FA Cup might mean a 'Gentleman's Agreement' now exists between the two clubs to make this transfer permanent in January ? the words "gentleman" and "football" do not sit happily together, sadly
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 Has the Martin deal run into trouble then? Becoming more drawn out than the Skacel transfer. Bit strange really considering the magnitude of the deal and all 3 parties are keen for it to happen.
Sanguin Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 Trotman was a little off the pace on Saturday, he seemed to think he had more control than he did, maybe the rest will do him some good.
Ricky Redstripe Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 Chelski are not allowed to buy/loan anybody at the moment and they'll also lose a few players to the African Cup of Nations, so it might be that they find themselves a bit short come January ?? Can't think of any other reason because he did not appear too close to the first team before we got him !!! They probably don't want to cup tie him in the hope that they will be able to sell him in January, if the transfer ban gets lifted, to a club still in the cup.
Iowsaintsfan Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Trotman was a little off the pace on Saturday, he seemed to think he had more control than he did, maybe the rest will do him some good. Was thinking the same, he didnt look right after the game either a few of the players seeing if he was ok, you can see it in some of the You tube clips
norwaysaint Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 sell on clause? He retired a couple of years ago. Keep up FFS.
RonManager Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Was thinking the same, he didnt look right after the game either a few of the players seeing if he was ok, you can see it in some of the You tube clips Well he did get quite a smack in the head when they scored so he could have been playing with concussion.
Saint_clark Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 Well he did get quite a smack in the head when they scored so he could have been playing with concussion. This.
thorpie the sinner Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 maybe we found something with the medical for Martin, just can't work out why he hasn't signed yet. It will good to have cover!
Jez Posted 4 November, 2009 Posted 4 November, 2009 He retired a couple of years ago. Keep up FFS. Apparently Newcastle are interested
