He'd be a good appointment for them if true.

LOL if true, this is The Sun we're talking about ;)

What's factually incorrect about the story?

Nothing incorrect but no evidence either. The chairman says that it's important they make the right decision, but he doesn't name anyone.

Bit touchy, aren't you? It's typical Sun scatter-gun approach - mention as many names as they can think of and then when there is an announcement they say: 'You heard it here first, folks' and include a picture of the extract from the one earlier report that happened to mention the right one.

No mention of the others they claimed were going there, and didn't, of course.

Remember, it's not a newspaper, so don't read it for news.

The story is about him being the favourite. The Sun are not going to print anything incorrect.

the crystal palace fans would love it if he went there :S

He managed them before he took over at Reading.

It's made of paper and has news in it, therefore it is a newspaper.

I beg your pardon, I thought it just had a lot of pictures and a report of/build up to the 'X Factor'.

Unless, of course, you count a footballer's wife having a baby as 'news'.

Nah, in some sections it has real news and business news, scary stuff I know.

I miss striker though.

I can see him going back to reading !

I can't. He's only just left.

Why would he go back to pick up the pieces of that "difficult second season down" which he anticipated and scarpered from in the first place.

Coppell, like Strachan, has learnt when to leave. He won't go back there.

And I can't see him at Brighton either, not enough to gain, too much to lose.

Don't think he would go in a month of Sundays.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him here as DoF one day.

On first reaction, I was concerned that if Coppell did take over at Brighton then our 'new manager' jinx would kick in again, especially given the fact that he's an awesome manager. Then, I thought of our recent jinx record:

1) Sky Live jinx: outcome - draw with Millwall.

2) New manager jinx: outcome - draw with Colchester.

So...our 3rd attempt will end in a victory, even if it is Coppell who ends up taking over! COYR!

Only inasmuch he was a whisker away from coming here as manager.

It won't happen if AP doesn't want it to happen but he fits the role, is at SMS a lot and we seem to be recruiting staff with Reading connections, left right and centre.

Thats a shame, I really wanted him back in the summer, I liked the way he had Reading playing, still AP is doing a good job so mustn't gwumble.

The Sun and the truth - diametrically opposed I would have thought!

To paraphrase a historical quote

'There are lies, damn lies & Sun exclusives (or editorials..whatever fits)'

It's a comic...expect journalism to suit:)

Up here in deepest darkest north Kent we have BBC south-east regional news and they had the Brighton Chairman on last night saying that they would not be appointing anybody until after their FA Cup tie on Saturday. Coppell has ruled himself out so whoever gets the job is not going to have a huge amount of time to get the team ready for the Saints game. To be honest, new manager or not, we should have more than enough to beat them.

I'd feel sorry for them if he did. He's got to be one of the most failed english managers in the history of football. Yet somehow people seem to employ him. I can think of any club that he has been at where he didn't leave under a cloud. I might be wrong though.

I too think Gregory is a waste of space, and someone who has traded on a glorious track record of non-achievement.Despite that he has always managed to be a thorn in our side, remember his first or second game in charge of QPR and how they managed an unlikely 2-1 victory against us ?
