Ok here are my ratings, no description, just Football Manager-esque.

Davis 6

James 6

Jaidi 7

Trotman 6

Harding 7

Wotton 5

Hammond 6

Schneiderlin 7

Lallana 6

Waigo 5

Lambert 8

Connolly 7

Antonio 7

Davis 6-not much to do, a few dodgy clearances

James 7 - fairly solid, not great corners

Jaidi 6 - v. good in the air, a few sticky moments

Trottman 7 - good game apart from the own goalWotten 6 - played fairly well first half, looked to pass it on the deck surprisingly

Hammond 6 - workmanlike performance, had a few good chances first half

Morgan 7 - added class to the middlefield

Lallana 6 - drifted in and out of the game

Papa 6 - good threat but poor end product

Lambert 9 - class above, won everything in the air and quality in and around the box

Davis - Didn't look too confident for some reason, kicking was 50/50. 6/10

James - Made a cracking tackle near the end. Did ok. 6/10

Trotman - Not his best match. Maybe the early blow to the head affected him. 5/10.

Jaidi - Bit shakey at times, won everything in the air. 6/10.Harding - Did well and gave vital space on the left in the 2nd half. 7/10

Waigo - Took their left back on quite a few times. End product not brilliant. 6.5/10

Wotton - Rubbish. Gave away the free kick for the first goal and generally looked lost. 4/10

Hammond - Injuried, and made no impact on the game whatsoever. 4/10

Schniderlin - Did ok, should have probably score with at least one of his chances. 6.5/10

Lallana - Loads of running, deft touches and lovely link up play. 8/10

Lambert - Getting better and better. MOTM for us, second goal was a screamer. 9/10

Subs:

Connolly - Helped change the game, unlucky not to score. 8/10

Antonio - More running and with Connolly again helped change the game. 7/10

Agree with all of that except Jaidi and Morgan. They played better than that IMO.

My thoughts:

Lambert is a goal machine.

Jaidi and Trottman are dominant in the air.Antonio is built like a brick **** house. They don't usually build wingers like that.

I have no idea how Orient managed to get 2-0 ahead, but we didn't really trouble their goal until Lambert's first strike.

Great atmosphere and good fun singing on the tube. "Harry Redknapp's mother is a whore. She's a whore. WHORE."

So unlucky to be 2 goals down, looked like it wasn't going to be our day, but a spirited fightback. Cracking second half of football, it's not often that we've seen a Saints side so dominant for such long periods. I was exhausted at full time.

didn't go myself.

No no, it's YOU who does not get it. You obviously know nothing about football, and nothing about sport. If all people in sport thought like you did, they would all fail. Thank god I don't think like you do when I go out and play in tournaments. I know I'm better than 95% of the players I play against in tournaments, yet I still know I have a job to do, and no matter how much better I am, it will happen that occasionally a sh1te player will beat me. That is sport; that is life.

All you can do is play the situation you have in front of you. Against MK Dons, we were unlucky to go 1-0 down, but we fought back and got the win. We were desperately unlucky to go 2-0 down at Orient. But we did. Sh1te happens. Sh1te happens to teams all over the country, every single week. Most of them will capitulate and give up, they will think "it's not our day" and just give up. But our new Saints team didn't do that. THAT'S why it was a good result.

Just because we SHOULD beat them, doesn't mean it's automatically a bad result if we don't. Just look at the story of the game, for crying out loud. A 2-2 draw after everything that happened was a bloody good result.

You're such an arrogant boring poster who contributes nothing. Please stop posting.

I've found a Golden Oldie post from Alpine...

That our defence is still shaky against crosses, and the team is still shaky against direct attacking.

Sorry Alps but that is nonsense. What the last 2 games have shown us is we're too slow off the mark and we don't tuck away enough of our chances. Conceding goals isn't a problem if you're converting them at the other end. The way we're set up we're always likely to concede the odd goal here and there but it wouldn't matter if we were scoring them at the other end.

Of our attacking players I would only really trust lambert to stick away his chances consistantly. Maybe Connolly as well but I happen to agree with Pardews strategy of not playing him for the full 90 minutes (although I might have questions about which 45 minutes he plays).

Why is it that any thread started by alpine degenerates? Damnit people he's actually a fairly intelligent poster most of the time he just has his own opinion unlike some of his critics who crucify him when he says anything at all.

TBF quite a few have argued intelligently (and I would argue extremely successfully) against Alpine on this thread.

Not exactly the next Tiger Woods, are you ?

When I play any sport, I play to win. It hurts me to lose and makes me more determined to do better next time. The team did very well to partially rescue the situation on Saturday, but they should still be mad at themselves for allowing the situation to happen in the first palce.

A "Sh*te happens" and a shrug of the shoulders is why it keeps on happening.

Seems this club still lacks ambition in some quarters.

What shall we do then, let the team pat themselves on the back and let them sit back on their laurels ??

We just have to turn up and support the team again next match, and the one after that, that's the job of a supporter. The management will have reviewed the match and will make decisions based on the entire game where changes need to be made, if at all. I'd be amazed if AP let the team rest on their laurels even if they won 10 in a row. It's the job of the manager to prepare the team to win every match and based on recent performance I'd say that is what AP is doing.

Having been at the match I can say that it was as one sided as the previous MK Dons match, if not more so and the two goals that we conceded were down to two decent crosses and one decent header - their first, and a bit of absent minded defending - their second. Many people (not everyone) expected us to win against Orient and it sounds like you were one of them, but sometimes things don't work out the way you expect for a whole host ofreasons and variables that you just can't control. On Saturday we created enough chances to win that game even giving them a 4 goal lead, but we just couldn't execute the quality of finishing that we have seen in recent weeks. Sometimes it happens, we just have to learn from it and move on to the next game.

That's not being arrogant. 5% of the field are really good players, and they are the ones I have to beat. That's not arrogant, it's fact. 8th on the order of merit out of 200 odd players, and I played a third of the events. I'm not arrogant, I'm stating the facts.

As for being boring and contributing nothing, I haven't read anything of yours that is much fun either - so why don't you stop posting? Or maybe mind your own ****ing business?

And it's exactly the same for me. But beating myself up after a pretty respectable result will only harm my chances the next week.

I'm confident Pardew will be working on a few things, but ultimately he'll be focussing on the positives, which is the RIGHT way to go about things. Thank god he's the manager and you aren't!

Dont have a problem with that, though please permit me the courtesy of continuing to argue my corner.

What I do have a problem with is the continual sniping from St. Will, which means a few of my responses directed to other posters were probably a bit terser than they needed to be.

I was not spouting off about anything. I was trying to make a point, and proving that I have some knowledge so to make my point valid. I don't care what you have to say anyway.

I agree with you. If you ignore him however he won't be nearly as prolific on here. It's the ideal strategy and prevents your posts being as tedious because you are replying to one of his asinine posts.

You for a start. The paradox of being thrilled at a draw against a mediocre team but berating anyone for "negativity" is there for all to see.

Idiot. I am able to put it into perspective. You, on the other hand, think the world is going to end because we only drew a game, despite that fact we nearly won, and won 5 games previous.

The only thing that "is there for all to see" is that you are paranoid, negative and irrational.

Come on Alps, I credit you with more intelligence than taking a cheap shot.

Which quarters of our club is lacking ambition?

Yes.

(though I fear the new manager syndrome biting us in the arse.....again)

New manager syndrome really does have me worried. On paper we should beat them easily, but on paper we should have beaten Orient easily.

Having said that I'm hoping that the Orient game will have been just the kick up the complacency arse the players needed. And I'd rather have the complacency kicked out of us by an away draw than a home defeat!
