Wiltshire Saint Posted 2 November, 2009 Share Posted 2 November, 2009 This strikes me as advertising. Are we allowed to advertise our own (or friends) businesses on here? If we are then I would like to direct everyone to these people: 1. Carpentry My mate runs this business.....good rates, professional job http://www.hedgeendbuilders.co.uk/ 2.Plumbing: My brother has a business called Power Plumbing Services. A good deal and if you mention my name (Wiltshire Saint) and SWF you may get a discount (unless your name is Boj) 3. Taxi cab A friend of mine runs this firm: Imperial Cars Ltd Canute Rd, Southampton, SO14 07976 184991 Hope this is of some help to you all. hamster Posted 2 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 2 November, 2009 /\ Just a plain old customer Wilt, nothing more nothing less. In fact, I think it more than fair to recomend a decent posh pub for a change. In my experience the Forge sells decent food which is a bit overpriced, nice 'suppy' beer that is a bit overprced, but the service is good and for once they havea bit of wholesome nourishing proper pub grub on the menu. I would do the same for the River Inn's carvery if it were not for the fact that The Alma in Bishops waltham is cheaper AND better.

norwaysaint Posted 3 November, 2009 Share Posted 3 November, 2009 I think it would probably be illegal to sell British sausages here due to their low meat content. I do miss the extra flavour all that crap gives them though. The sausages here are pretty bland.
Badger Posted 3 November, 2009 Share Posted 3 November, 2009 (edited) Whats the pub at the top of the hill in Otterbourne like these days ?(Sorry name escapes me, its on the left after the slip road into Otterbourne). Used to do good food, and remember Frank Worthington being in there a couple of times. EDIT :Think it might be called The Otter ! An unforgetable name for a pub in Otterbourne you would have thought, obviously killed too many braincells with beer over the years. RonManager Posted 3 November, 2009 Share Posted 3 November, 2009 i thought The Alma was in Lower Upham..... Upper Lowham? This joke used to go down a storm in the Meon Valley area back in the 70's and us locals would never tire of hearing it. I feel qualified to make this most excellent 'play on words' style joke as - a) I used to live in Droxford and am therefore local. b) I like sausages and pubs. dubai_phil Posted 3 November, 2009 Share Posted 3 November, 2009 Strangely, in a Muslim country, the local supermarkets do a wide range of bangers, Cumberland, Linclonshire, Pork & Leek, Chipolatas the works, as well as the usual Walls etc. Worryingly, after many years we've actually found the best bangers are Farmers Choice, which are also the cheapest AND come from Kenya. And that doesn't include the whole range of Boerwoers, Saucisse de Toulon, Bratwursts & weisswursts that can be got down here. Not a fan of Timothy Taylors though, Wadworths 6X perfectly stored and poured gets me missing home though

hamster Posted 3 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 3 November, 2009 (edited) Ooooooo I wish I lived down South Timothy Taylors - landlord is my fav beer, I feel a visit on my next trip down south. I am a big fan of Ringwood Best and if it's on the pump it's in my glass, don't care what else is available I just love the stuff. Spent a short break in Hampstead Village a couple of years back and after a guided walk we stopped in some gastro-Pub, who only sold TT. I only had a pint cos it was all they had, what a pleasurable experienc e that was and thankfully I have not yet found a pub that selld them both as I would be forced to choose between the two. A truly perfect pint of Ale. Incidentally, and I wish the girls a long and happy life, if and when either Jackie or Joan Collins passes away, get yourselves up to the little cemetary in Hampstead Village and tak eoyur cameras. It will be packed to the gunnels with celebes as they have a reserved family plot there. Edited 3 November, 2009 by hamster

Obviously the remaining menu will be available but if she is expecting a good sausage or banger it might not be available over the bar.

No probs Badger, going to be ordering from the main menu... seared scallops on a black pudding mash looking great for a starter! The Mrs doesn't know I'm taking her out for lunch yet either (Even the smallest treats can be nice surprises), so if I don't mention the bangers she can't be disappointed. hamster Posted 15 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 15 November, 2009 Smash. represents all that is wrong with modern society. Any product that has the words 'potato content' followed by a number less than 100%* is NOT mashed potato. *Obvioulsy real mash requires a big knob of real butter and a sploosh of full cream milk, but you know what i mean.
