I had the Saints crest tattooed onto my arm at Zacs when I was 16, and now at 43 i still like it, although it is a little faded.

A mate of mine had it done at a tattooist in London and they missed out the 2nd 'T' so has been going around with a 'Southampon' tattoo for the last 20 years. Buyer Beware.

I seriously think people who have tatoos have got a screw loose

They are for insecure people who think they need to somehow 'show their individuality' when in fact they are simply following the crowd.

Want a bigger brush for all that tar?

Sounds like you have a bigger problem with them than anyone else!

I've Southampton FC tattooed down my forearm and the stickman on my chest.

Wife hates them both but I still don't regret it.

Already I had a few done at Zaks in six dials I went back to Zaks aged 22 and got a biggish saints crest and cup winners 1976 on my right upper arm. Just back from the final & legless.

Must admit I hate it now in 2009 . My tatts are really dated . Being single on dates is the worst problem. Telling a nice mature lady you have tats all over your arms including a football one dated 1976 . Makes me cringe now . I have looked at laser removal ...painful and expensive... !

Could have been worse - he could have put that T after the H.

My hubby has saints badge full colour on one calf and the saint stick man on the other. The stick man was copied from the Saints home changing room at St. Marys. Quality!!

Got the stick man on my right arm a few years back.

Had it done by a Goth bird with tattooed breasts!!

I love my tattoo but never got the urge to have more done.

A pair of revolvers? Bournemouth?

as bad as it is though tattoos are now becoming fashion, and there is the difference with how you dress and present your self with your tattoos if you get me.

i think you could probably get the saints crest for about 60-70 i would think.

Hmmm. Up for debate I would think.

I went to a parlour to have 'Southampton FC' tattoed on my manhood. It looked good back then now it just appears to be a rhetorical question. So?

Still I'm kind of attached to it. ;)

Couldnt you have 'Southampton Leisure Holdings plc Football Club' tattooed on it then? Was it a lettering and/or a size issue?

I have a stickman on my upper right arm with S.F.C. underneath as that is my eldest daughters initials.

Trouble was, when I had my next daughter I had to get another tattoo (not football related) on my other arm with her initials!

Snob post of the year goes to (Y)

How are they not fashion or art...it is a picture/design...

I'd like to challenge for the snob post of the year.

Tattoos might be in vogue for a impressionable sector of the market and if a pile of bricks laid out in a certain pattern, a dead sheep in a glass case of formaldehyde or an unmade and stain-ridden bed can be considered as art, then arguably so can these tattoos.

But then fashion is fickle and is prone to change constantly. There might well come a time when tattoos become passe and those sporting them seen to be as much an anachronism as somebody strolling around town wearing flared hipsters, an Astrakhan coat, beads and flowers in their hair, vintage late 60s.

As it is, a large proportion of society rightly or wrongly make their own judgments on those with tattoos, piercings, shaven heads and other outward appearance trends adopted by those who think that they are rebellious, when in fact they are are like sheep. Many have them done because they slavishly follow their idols, people like Beckham and Robbie Williams. Others undoubtedly have them because of peer group pressure, or because they think that they make them look hard. Few things make a woman look less attractive than visible tattoos everywhere. Skatesville is full of tattooed women, which just goes to reinforce the impression of it as a deprived area full of pikey chavs, graffiti on the walls and people actually wearing it too.

Okay but i live in lymington, when i got my first tattoo it was a butterfly(i really doubt i got that to look hard).

I didnt do it because of peer pressure cos none of my friends have them. Although it is fashion now and alot of the people in the "scene" i am associated with it is common and considered "Trendy" but this is not the reason i have gotten the tattoos i have.

I hate when people say they have the tattoos they have because they mean something but some are because of my granddad ( roses and a ship because these are the tattoos he has on his arm ) but i also have things like an anchor and band album artwork(because i like the art alot not because of the band).

I know i am going to be judged by my tattoos but i also know if people bother to get to know me they will know im not what they thought and hopefully thats their gain not mine.

I can understand why some one would not want them but i do find it hard why some people are so judgmental and hate them.

I have SFC on my forearm, if you like tattoos and every tattoo you get means something as myne do and your always gona be a saints fan and not ditch the club, then go for it i got myne done last summer before we were taken over left a space under my forearm for rip lol.

I dont see the point in these tribal tattoos yes they look nice but what meaning do they have?

Wes, there are times that I genuinely and surprisingly at times believe we could have good night in my local sinking a few pints of Doom Bar in a very agreeable setting. Couldn't agree with you more and a great post if I may so.

I agree fashion is fickle and what not but i have to say how can you say that tattoos arent art..i mean tattooing is one of the oldest art forms known to man i mean even more to say a painting is art...if you get that painting tattooed on your thats art isnt it?i mean i know there are alot of impressionable people get them because they are sheep although id like to think im not one of them..

unfortunately it is art, question is it good art?No..

Same as everything i believe, everything in moderation, hes just gone too far, much like Beckham etc the odd 1 or 2 aint too bad IMO

Well you've stated it as fact there when in fact the definition of art is open for debate. It's not definitively art and I would argue that it most certainly isn't.

Posted

How is it not...okay the mona lisa is art, if you saw a picture of it in a book it would still be art, as a tattoo is still art.

Its one of the worlds oldest art forms and to say its not its just plain ridiculous.
