The whole team looked weak.

I think after Saturday it's probably best to rest Hammond which almost forces us to stay with the 4-5-1 a Wotton and Schneiderlin partnership wouldn't be strong enoguh especially away from home.

I can understand bringing Thomas in at centre half, he's a liability at full back we lose all forward momentum when the ball goes to the right side.

I'd start with

----------- Davis

James Trottman Thomas Harding

---------- Wotton

Antonio Mellis Schneiderlin Lallana

---------- Lambert

Gives Hammond, Waigo and Jaidi a rest and gives Thomas, Antonio and Mellis a chance to show what they're about again. Not too many changes and the same sort of shape we've been playing.

The JPT game against Charlton might be a good time to try 4-4-2 from the start and maybe rest 2-3 different players Lambert, Lallana and Harding spring to mind, they've all played a lot of football this season.

There's really no need to play a whole new 11, we'd just get stuffed and the fringe players would lose more confidence and our unbeaten run would come to an end.

I wouldn't rest Waigo, he needs to practise the offside rule.

I would guess that Antonio will become first choice by the time we play Brighton.

What is this fascination with Wembley. ?

Its already a white elephant, to be bailed out by more FA money, (see the Telegraph Sport section, this day)

It has lost its aura, and is only fit for pop concerts and NFL games, the pitch is c--p and the facilities are deigned as a 'extortionists bonanza'

Why should Joe Public subsidise it with the pricing structure.

They are playing the semi-finals there and no doubt would play the quarter-finals too, if the FA thought they could 'milk' the fans some more.

Can someone explain the purpose of the 'coat-hanger'. ?

You can still play to win without your first choice team. Look at what the Arsenal kids do in the cup.

Arsenal rightly slash the ticket prices by 75% when playing the kids (assuming the away team agrees).

Wembley will break even in 3 years, not bad considering the expense (mainly the FA's fault).

I've been to Wembley 4 times. If you can avoid having to eat there you will have a magnificent time. It's a superb stadium, fit to stage any football match.

I'm a great believer in playing your strongest 11 + subs unless there are injuries/suspensions that prevent this. The spacing of the next 4 games (6 days, 5 days, 4 days, 6 days) gives the players time to recover from each game with lighter training in between.

If results had been poor lately then changes could be tried but with our good run of late unnecessarily tinkering with the team could cause disruption to the newly built team understanding, switch some players off that may not play for up to 2 weeks and put at risk the current team momentum. Yes injuries obviously can happen in games but as many injuries seem to happen in training, to protect players from injuries and suspensions by not playing them can be counter productive.

And the JPT tickets cost how much ?

Don't think Arsenal played in the JPT ;)

My point was that if a side plans to field an understrength side then they should review their standard pricing policy.

A risk-free chance to try out a few alternatives to what is already a pretty good side?

Different RB? Some say LJ isn't good enough. I don't agree, and he needs all the practice he can get, but give WT a game to remind us all how good LJ actually is?

Different starter in CM instead of PW? Probably worth a try. Maybe Hammond, Morgan & Mellis, with Hammond in the deeper role. Or put Holmes on and drop AL back a bit.

Try to get the opportunity to let MS break his scoring duck. I'm sure there are goals there when he gets the confidence.

Left footer to take corners on the right, and vv? Harding & MS.

And maybe (and being controversial here) Bart in goal to blow away the cobwebs.

All IMHO, of course.

If Pards wants to start with 4-5-1 again I'd like to see Oscar Gobern given a go in the Wotton role. Really shone for the ressies last week by all accounts, and I always thought he had something about him even at our lowest points.

If it doesn't work we know we can revert to Plan B - Connolly off the bench and 4-4-2.

Result!
