Stepgar Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 (edited) Just in case you missed it it is on BBC iplayer scroll through to about 43 mins. Two good finishes from Lambert. Really showing what we have been missing. I personally think he is betterthan Beattie. http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer/#episode/b00nt80p Edited 1 November, 2009 by Stepgar

Glasgow_Saint Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 He is not better than Beattie. Beattie is scoring goals (has done for years) in the prem. Lambo is scoring goals in L1 - big difference!
SimonRichards Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00nt80p/The_Football_League_Show_2009_2010_31_10_2009/ 44 minutes 35 seconds in.
krissyboy31 Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 He is not better than Beattie. Beattie is scoring goals (has done for years) in the prem. Lambo is scoring goals in L1 - big difference! I agree but he'll do for me, right now.
John B Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 I agree but he'll do for me, right now. I think Lambert is one the best signing Saints have ever made .
krissyboy31 Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 I think Lambert is one the best signing Saints have ever made . Well, not quite in the league of an Alan Ball or a Kevin Keegan but I think I know what you mean.
Legod Third Coming Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 He is not better than Beattie. Beattie is scoring goals (has done for years) in the prem. Lambo is scoring goals in L1 - big difference! He's back in form at Stoke. When he's confident, he really is a superb player isn't he? Powerful, strong in the challenge and must be a bloody nightmare for defenders!
S-Clarke Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 What a great finish his 2nd' goal was. He is simply too good for this division - and was last season too IMO. So impressed we managed to keep him in L1, as he could easily be banging them in for a top 6 side in the championship.
Fan The Flames Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 The Trotman OG was dissapointing, he didn't have his best game yesterday.
St.Thomas7 Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 Did anyone else find it odd that they once again seem to have forgotten our billionaire owner? When the question was asked by a fan e-mail "are they any football league teams that could be in the champions league within 5-6 years?" who did they go straight to...? Notts County... ffs... :-P
Legod Third Coming Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 The Trotman OG was dissapointing, he didn't have his best game yesterday. Really bizarre, he seemd to have much more time than he realised. Did Kelvin call I wonder?
Secret Site Agent Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 The Trotman OG was dissapointing, he didn't have his best game yesterday. Was it my interpretation or was it a case of the 'belly is going to get us?'

S-Clarke Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 i know..also the panel were surprised we could afford lambert considering the troubles we had...? No one seems to be aware of our new found wealth. All i ever hear/read are ''how can they afford him, when they're in money troubles?'' ''they're skint - how can they afford lambert?'' etc...

''they're skint - how can they afford lambert?'' etc... strange...just seems very poorly researched...i mean, our administration and the mess afterwards was all over the press....
S-Clarke Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 strange...just seems very poorly researched...i mean, our administration and the mess afterwards was all over the press.... it was, but people often shrug at us and look at the next story, regarding what Sir Alex had for breakfast the prem makes the media circus go round, anything under that is rated unimportant unfortunately.
Thedelldays Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 it was, but people often shrug at us and look at the next story, regarding what Sir Alex had for breakfast the prem makes the media circus go round, anything under that is rated unimportant unfortunately. oh..completely agree...you only have to watch (if you can) that god awful sunday supplement show on sky sports....awful, AWFUL show but for a football league show....no matter what channel, it is always crap

It's only good when they rip into the skates, but they didn't today which was a shame..

Fowllyd Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 Really bizarre, he seemd to have much more time than he realised. Did Kelvin call I wonder? Call me old-fashioned, but I really don't think players should be taking their mobiles onto the pitch with them.
John B Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 Well, not quite in the league of an Alan Ball or a Kevin Keegan but I think I know what you mean. Yes I agree that is why I put one of the best Apart from Niemmi I cant think of a better signing since we have been at St Mary's

RedAndWhite91 Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 Lets face it Notts County are much more high profile with Sven there so it is not surprising that Notts County were mentioned Yeah, and let them be high profile. I'd rather Markus' billions were kept under the radar personally. Let Notts County be high profile, and may they continue signing high profile players like Sol Campbell and Lee Hughes.
rooney Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 He is not better than Beattie. Beattie is scoring goals (has done for years) in the prem. Lambo is scoring goals in L1 - big difference! Cannot argue with that but Rikki has a better first touch than Beattie
Legod Third Coming Posted 1 November, 2009 Posted 1 November, 2009 Cannot argue with that but Rikki has a better first touch than Beattie I have a better first touch than Beattie. You probably do too...
oxfordshire_saint Posted 2 November, 2009 Posted 2 November, 2009 Rather than being better than Beattie, I'd say Lambert is the best striker we've had since Beatts. That said, who has there been in between? Rasiak? McGoldrick? Best?
farawaysaint Posted 2 November, 2009 Posted 2 November, 2009 Rather than being better than Beattie, I'd say Lambert is the best striker we've had since Beatts. That said, who has there been in between? Rasiak? McGoldrick? Best? Saga?
krissyboy31 Posted 2 November, 2009 Posted 2 November, 2009 Saga? Saga's a different kind of striker (smaller, nippier) but I wouldn't put RL above Crouch.
beatlesaint Posted 2 November, 2009 Posted 2 November, 2009 There doesnt seem much point in watching this Football League show as every week the highlights are longer and therefore better on the BBC's Southampton page
alpine_saint Posted 2 November, 2009 Posted 2 November, 2009 Saga's a different kind of striker (smaller, nippier) but I wouldn't put RL above Crouch. I wish people wouldnt refer to Rickie with "RL", even though it is his intials. It reminds me of a certain person in our not-so-distant past whose many-year association with club was a lot less productive.. *cue SOGGY and Franks_cousin appearing....*

Saint_clark Posted 2 November, 2009 Posted 2 November, 2009 Saga's a different kind of striker (smaller, nippier) but I wouldn't put RL above Crouch. Me neither, i'd hate to think what the thin air would do to him.
Nadia Sllim Posted 2 November, 2009 Posted 2 November, 2009 Loved the Steward behind the goal ducking out of the way of Ricky's second ;-)
DT Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 easier to go here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/default.stm
James Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 I wouldn't put Lambert ahead of Crouch or Jones to be honest. They are the two best strikers since Beattie.
Smirking_Saint Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 I wouldn't put Lambert ahead of Crouch or Jones to be honest. They are the two best strikers since Beattie. Have to agree, and actually better than Beattie was. Beat's is very one dimensional, that is why he was sh*te at Everton. He only really had a couple of decent seasons, and that coincided with Bridgey's crossing and Brett working himself into the ground. Jones as much as he is a c*nt is a very good striker, and will probably end up at one of the bigger clubs.
saintmatt Posted 3 November, 2009 Posted 3 November, 2009 if you consider the striker relative to the league we're playing in,lambo's def one of the best signings we've ever made
