...managers he's played for and players he's faced, reckons that Alan Pardew was the best manager he ever played for. In the Sun today...for what it's worth.

I played under about 20 managers. As an all-round manager, my favourite was Alan Pardew.

I wonder what our players currently think of AP...?

"He was excellent, even though he thought he was the best-looking and best-dressed man in London."

Mills is a bit of a sod, but he speaks his mind and always gave 100%. Reputation for being really dirty but 8 reds in 15 years is not many.

Good read ta GM for the link.

That's a pretty big statement for him to make - it was only in the last 3 years he's worked with him too, at Charlton of all places.

I still think his time at Charlton was dictated by the club and the boardroom - not down to his ability as a manager. He's kind of got a free reign here and hopefully he can go on to prove why he was once a candidate for the England job.

Danny Mills really wound up the whole of SMS a few years ago a right twonk on the pitch, but off the pitch he does a fair bit for charity. I even think he has his own charity.

But back to the post, AP seems a decent chap who it seems can play the good-bad kop rountine all by himself!

Saw Mills once after we played at Elland Road. He disappeared quickly when he saw loads of people waiting for autographs, and then came back and said "Sorry but I can't sign properly with a pair of boots under my arm so I put them in the car". He then spent however long it took to sign everything that people wanted signed. Obviously I don't really know the guy but he came across as a thoroughly nice bloke who had time to chat to anybody.

I particularly like this photo of him chatting with Robbie Savage
