Are we sure this is a good thing ?

Much as I respect his loyal playing career for us and always found him friendly when I spoke to him, wasnt there a suspicion about him being a bit of a disruptive element in the changing room during the Sturrock business ?

Anyone know what his role would be ?

Hes a legend to us as Saints fans, anyone who makes that many appearances deserves our upmost respect. Dunno what role they've got lined up for him but I think its great that he gets to work for his "home" team.

Him and Beattie wasn't it?

I'm happy for him to pick up with the academy etc for now.

As a senior player he was probably only speaking for the rest of the team who were disappointed at the appointment of Sturrock as they had been expecting the much more experienced Glenn Hoddle.

They should have expressed this view to the vocal minority of fans IMO.

I know he was doing scouting work for Middlesbrough quite recently, so I guess he might be coming on board in that sort of role.

I presume Aldershot have decided that they're not going to give him the manager's job full-time?

The academy must be short of numbers in the coaching department, wasn't their talk last season that we might lose academy status as we didn't have enough staff? I'd have thought he could do a job there.

How have Aldershot got on since he took over? You'd think he'd fancy trying to get that job, unless he always knew it was only short term.

His all round experience will make him an asset for the club...Reserves and Youth with Puckett and Henderson and maybe some scouting of other teams......Again..Pards selection no doubt and therefore we should trust in Pards and the powers to be.

A valuable addition to the training/coaching staff.

Shut up you dopey old woman.

Hoddle never rated Beattie and they didn't get along so highly unlikely that he was clamouring for your boyfriend to come back, and as Hoddle is disliked by almost every pro footballer he has ever met, I'd wager Dodd didn't like him much either.

Being that Hoddle is one of the most disliked figures with a reputation of appalling man-management at every club he's been at it's unlikely that even a single player was looking forward to the return of Glenda. His prior and subsequent record of utter failure everywhere he's been proves this was an excellent decision.

Get over it.

Anyway, are we to assume he has not impressed as catetaker at Aldershot then? How have they done?

I read a couple of days ago that Tony Adams was lined up for Aldershot.

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Tony-Adams-wants-to-return-to-management-at-Aldershot-article202839.html

(No, I don't buy the Mirror to read, I only look at the pictures)

Well if Tony said so it must be true. Does Adams still have a gambling problem? Every job that comes up he is always one of the favorites. Do you think he is betting on himself?

Sorry but players get paid to play football not tell the club who they do and don't want as a manager.

So difficult to disagree with any of this.

I like the idea of him coming back and I trust that the management team will give him a suitable role that he can benifit the club with.

John Gorman has been on TV a couple of times today due to a match coming up (I keep catching the end of it so not quite got the story) talking about not seeing eye to eye with pearson but still respects him or somit. I guess with the set up as it is now JD will only be coming back into the club if it fits with how the club is working now. Brining people inand out all over the place like last season should be a thing of the past and our future seems to be allot more together.

he was at the reserve match against Forest Green, and spent most of the time chatting with Dave Hockaday....

perhaps he was looking at potential loan signings for Aldershot, perhaps he was there for something else...

Doesn't Jason still have "links" with the club?

Not a bad thing imo - committed individual and it is a link with previous days.

One thing we have lost through being taken over is no continuity with the past (not moaning or blaming anybody). For instance the club was not represented at Davey Burnside's recent funeral (excepting David Bull) which does not look good. Something perhaps could be worked on. odd is the sort of bloke who could advise in this area perhaps.

I cant believe he's still only 38. Seems an age since he hung up his boots and he's done all sorts since then. Would welcome him back. Anyone know if Killer is still involved with the club at all? Been a bit out the loop.

Doddsy doesn't appear to be that kind of person. I hope I'm wrong, but are we sure that he would have known who David Burnside was? We have a living piece of Saints history in Lawrie Mac.

Hockaday? I thought he was long gone?

If Tony Adams is backing himself to get another job as a manager then yes, he does have a gambling problem!!

Beattie was nothing to do with it, Sturrock said so himself. He didn't deny Dodd's involvement though.

As a few others have said, so long as Jason is nowhere near the first team he could maybe do something for Saints.

There are a number of elements of Saints history which I believe would be best left consigned to the history book writers Duncan and in particular those elements that have failed to find success or have been a disruptive influence in any way. Now, I am not suggesting that Dodd has nothing to offer or would want anything other than the best for Saints, however if his opinion of what's best is in conflict in anyway with the current regime then I would not him anywhere near the club TBH. The old ways are not necessarily the best ways.

Shots kept their first clean sheet of the season at the weekend, away at Rotherham. Apparently Dodd had done his homework and Shots controlled the game. 0-0 ft.

Hardly Mourinho, is it?
