If life was that terrible........

Nothing, and I know many circumstances can be quoted, imo, is so terrible to take your own life

I know this is the Muppet Show but when you have lost a family member who would have chosen life every time it kind of sticks in your throat that for all intense purposes a healthy individual has chosen to end theirs, selfish is all I believe the act to be.

I'd like to try having sex with as many dangerous animals as possible. Starting with hippo and python.

Anyway, back to the OP. I'd shoot myself.

or start on a mouse and work up to a lion and see where along the chain you meet your grizzly end

I fully understand and appreciate your views but you also need to put yourself in the mind of the individual who may be seriously (not simple attention seeking) contemplating taking their own life. It's true nothing is that bad to consider taking your own life but those are the thoughts of a sane and rational individual and if you get to point so dark and gloomy that you only have one out left, rational thought has been left behind.

I strongly disagree that it is a selfish act, or in any event a deliberately selfish act. It's usually a consequence of a very serious and often treatement resistent illness. On the face of it selfish but that individual has already considered the impact on their loved ones and made a 'rationalised' decision that their pain and grief will still be worth it for them in the long run. Selfish or simply very ill and misguided?

I appreciate your post is well intended but your conclusion IMO is very wrong in the majority of cases as you completely discount the issue of serious illness.

I thought my "for all intense purposes a healthy individual" would have been a kind of disclaimer to that but take on board your comments.

Shot through the head. Only way (a la Matthew Broderick in Full Metal Jacket). I'd also get absolutely sh*tfaced first though so I'd actually go through with it.

On a serious note, I've often thought that, health permitting things could NEVER be so bad to take my own life, perhaps though because I know if it comes down to it I could always move somewhere nobody knew me and "start again" because I have the skillset/ability to do so. I guess guilt never leaves you though, if those are the circumstances. Agree though it's very easy for us as clear thinking rational people to say all this, who knows what it would be like if you were there.

The way Randy Quad died in that god-awful alien film - now that's the way to go.

Aye, my buddy Paul form college caused a crash that killed a little kid. He killed himself a few months later, we all assume from the guilt.
