saints_is_the_south Posted 28 October, 2009 Posted 28 October, 2009 Very much looking forward to this one the day after New Years Day. Away fans are housed in 2 tier stand, the lower half of which is terracing. Shortest away trip for us this season, should be a good one. Oh & lastly, Brentford are "famous" for having a pub on each corner of their ground so good reason to get there a bit earlier & try & get round them all.
Michelle Posted 28 October, 2009 Posted 28 October, 2009 Went to Brentford for the pre-season game a couple of years back, and did the pub tour around the ground. Spent at least half an hour in each one.
stevegrant Posted 28 October, 2009 Posted 28 October, 2009 Trains are going to be an arse for that trip though. Network Rail are using the Christmas/New Year period to do the majority of the work on widening the tunnel at Southampton Central so they can increase the amount and size of the freight trains going through there. As a result, that tunnel will be closed between Boxing Day and January 3rd with bus replacements to Parkway.

Just means getting to parkway, shouldn't be any major problems.
Michelle Posted 28 October, 2009 Posted 28 October, 2009 Think I'll just drive, easy enough to get to. Don't forget potential of postponement due to FA Cup 3rd round fixtures.
oldsarum Posted 28 October, 2009 Posted 28 October, 2009 If the game goes ahead on Jan 2 think there will loads of trouble regards tickets as away end only holds 1600, so makes problems we've had with Orient tickets seem minor in comparison.
saint lard Posted 28 October, 2009 Posted 28 October, 2009 Coach from Pompey harbour to Heathrow via Southampton,Tube to Osterley,Nip in the Osterley Hotel for a swifty, bus to the ground just down the road. Back to the Osterley for a curry, now has a great Indian restaurant attached or you can eat in the Pub bar. Decent Pub attached not like a hotel bar area. I used to work there years ago, will be good to see some old faces.Quite cheap to stay even if you fancy a night in the west end.20 mins into Piccadilly Circus.
saint_bert Posted 28 October, 2009 Posted 28 October, 2009 What about the Greyhound? Just tube it across from Victoria?
bungle Posted 29 October, 2009 Posted 29 October, 2009 We'll be in the FA Cup 3rd round anyway, so this thread is pointless.

saints_is_the_south Posted 29 October, 2009 Author Posted 29 October, 2009 Good one sparticus, for such a pointlesss thread you've really made an effort to post in it. Anyway - teh greyhound site is playing up so not been able to check the times & prices yet. This is what the away end looks like As has already been posted, we'll only be getting around 1600 tickets so could be quite a scramble to get them if Leyton Orient is anything to go by.
Scummer Posted 29 October, 2009 Posted 29 October, 2009 Went up there for the FA cup a few years ago. They must have swapped the away end round since then.

Yeah, they used to swap the away end round every season i believe. The terrace that we were on for the cup game also has a roof on it now.
