I know now that we will survive very comfortably and get a nice mid table finish, but I think play offs are a pipe dream, we are GOING to have a losing stream sooner or later so I think its going over the top a bit to think that we will get up to sixth place, level head people!

Only losers assume losing is inevitable John.

If Lighting Bolt was running in the local athletic events around here, who would expect him to lose??

Exactly.

We are too good for this league. We must play like it. Dominate like it and then half our opponents will beat themselves.

I know Saints struggle with this concept, but until we shake off our 'losing culture' we will lose.

That Southampton should be dead.

Long live the new Southampton!!!! ;)

Not sure how you did your table S_Clarke but I had a go and this is what I get.

Take the average points per game over the last 6 games and multiply by the games to be played (currently 32) and you get the points that would be earned if the current form rate was maintained unchanged to the end of the season. Add to this the points scored so far and you end up with:

1 Colchester 102.7

2 Leeds 91.7

3 Norwich 91.3

4 Yeovil 12 64.0 18 82.0

5 Southampton 13 69.3 11 80.3

6 Millwall 11 58.7 21 79.7

7 Oldham 11 58.7 20 78.7

8 Hartlepool 11 58.7 19 77.7

9 Charlton 9 48.0 29 77.0

10 MK Dons 9 48.0 26 74.0

11 Leyton 9 48.0 15 63.0

12 Huddersfield 7 37.3 21 58.3

13 Walsall 7 37.3 17 54.3

14 Brentford 7 37.3 17 54.3

15 Swindon 6 32.0 19 51.0

16 Southend 6 32.0 17 49.0

17 Tranmere 7 37.3 10 47.3

18 Carlisle 6 32.0 14 46.0

19 Bristol R 4 21.3 22 43.3

20 Gillingham 5 26.7 15 41.7

21 Exeter 5 26.7 14 40.7

22 Stockport 5 26.7 14 40.7

23 Brighton 5 26.7 13 39.7

24 Wycombe 3 16.0 8 24.0

... seems to have posted already! I must have touches the wrong button? Anyway, the end column is the points scored and I have left a decimal point in place to reflect a notional reflect goal difference.

I have to say I amazed we make it to 5th and have Yeovil to play in the play-off semis with the crunch against our old adversaries, Norwich (or possibly Millwall). Our ups and downs are inextricably linked with Norwich!

I wont take the credit for the table i posted - i nicked it off another forum, not really sure how it's calculated to be honest. Based on form so they said..

either way, if we just carry on as we are we'll be in the top 6 for sure.

Easy...;)

I agree, that is what the stats show and so I am going to have to believe. I will keep this table and update it in a few games time and see what we get.

LOL at Bristol Rovers? LOVL at Charlton ...

One win at a time, please. We must not assume that any team will be a pushover. L.O. on Saturday is a case in point. Luckily, I reckon A.P. and staff will have the team fully focussed!

Each week I stood, arms by my side,

Watching this cursed game.

Damning the man who ruined it all,

And caused me all this pain.

But then that changed; we were saved,

By a man from lands afar.

Almost as if by a miracle,

Or a wish upon a star.

He turned around a 6 year fall,

Right down to the depths of hell.

Now remember this, so to your children,

Our story you can tell.

We were not the best, we were not the worst,

We were just glad to be there.

In the best league in all of the land,

With the game played good and fair.

But then that changed, something went wrong,

We were undone by one mans greed.

His stubborness, his arrogance,

And his selfishness he had to feed.

I shall not dwell upon that man,

For now our skys are clear.

Just know that if it weren’t for him,

We would not be down here.

In spite of him, and his mistakes,

We all still sing our song.

And every weekend, without fault,

The Saints go marching on.

Do not fret; that time has passed,

The future’s looking bright.

Every week we take to the stands,

And cheer the Red and White.

From the day we’re born, till the day we walk,

Through heavens pearly gates,

Stand, and stand proud my friend,

For we are, and always will be, Saints.

What is essential now, in my opinion, is keeping the momentum of the last month going AND not having the usual Saints Christmas period (lose everything...)

Tell me about it! I've visited the UK every Christmas since I moved away. Hopefully this year I'll see a win!

Don't bank on it ... I'm making my first trip back for Xmas at home in about 10 years or so.....

Normally I only see games at the start of the season in Aug and Sept and lets just say my games to wins ratio isn't too impressive. Even the games I don't attend whilst back seem to be the same :(

Am planning on Leeds away, not sure about home games yet as I'll be stuck up north but a nice tasty northern team in The FA Cup 3rd round would be nice (so long as it is played on a Saturday at 1500 KO)
