Badger Posted 25 October, 2009 Posted 25 October, 2009 Thinking of this earlier, anyone know if the following will be available or allowed to play in the FA Cup at Rovers ? Trotman (could be a major influence of course) Antonio Mellis
RedAndWhite91 Posted 25 October, 2009 Posted 25 October, 2009 I shouldn't think any of them would be cup-tied (if that rule even exists anymore) cos it is the 1st round.
Berkshire Saint Posted 25 October, 2009 Posted 25 October, 2009 Yeah but their clubs are unlikely to let them play in case they need them later on in the competition.
SaintDonkey Posted 25 October, 2009 Posted 25 October, 2009 Players can indeed be cup tied. I would imagine Chelsea wouldn't get a **** about Mellis but Reading and Preston might want to keep Antonio and Trotman freed up. I'm really hoping they do play though since it will more or less confirm that their parent clubs are happy for us to keep them!
RedAndWhite91 Posted 25 October, 2009 Posted 25 October, 2009 Now that is a very good point Berkshire Saint.
Matthew Le God Posted 25 October, 2009 Posted 25 October, 2009 I shouldn't think any of them would be cup-tied (if that rule even exists anymore) cos it is the 1st round. Yes, the rule exists. Their parent clubs may not want them playing so they aren't cup tied for future rounds. I doubt any of Preston, Chelsea and Reading would be bothered anyway so not an issue hopefully.
Badger Posted 25 October, 2009 Author Posted 25 October, 2009 And I suppose Aaron (Eastleigh bloke whose name escapes me) might be cup tied even if he were considered able for selection. (Perry,or recall for Lancashire perhaps ?)
Nexstar Posted 25 October, 2009 Posted 25 October, 2009 To be honest i'm not fussed about the FA cup, JPT is only 3 games from Wembley at the moment and the league is really a priority. We aren't desperate for the money, slim chance of getting a good team until atleast round 4 and influential squad members will need a rest with the hectic fixtures.

In NT's case it might give an early indication of Preston's intentions.
