How Long Have We Got Lallana For

Apologies to those that don't approve of the thread :D

If nothing else it was a big compliment to the lad who is top top talent.

But lets not forget, Adam needed Pardew to convince him to stay when the oppurtunity arose for him to leave.

The MLT's of this world have gone, so that's not a judgement on Adam, just a fact of life.

What has changed is our circumstances and it will be interesting to see how we deal with approaches for our players (Which we will) compared to years gone by.

The other thought is that if we don't make the play offs this season (Still a huge huge ask) Then next seasons success will depend largely on keeping as much of the squad together as possible. With so many loan players and our top players attracting interest from higher clubs, the trick will be holding on to as many as we can.

I understand where you're coming from, I just think we should enjoy the moment and not worry about the future. The present is all we should dwell on, and the present situation is he's our player, he looks like he wants to play for us, he's playing exceptionally well, and AP has said it will take a large bid for us to consider selling him. So worry not!

I do worry a little as he is really standing out. The dons players couldn't handle him on saturday, he had a shot cleared off the line more or less and also had the keeper scrabbling with a superb left footed lobbed effort. There were times when you believed there was little to no way for him to escape with the ball and low and behold he did.

He really impressed me, those that understand football could always see the boy had potential, i don't know what happened last season, he clearly was low on confidence and was not being played the right ways.

Technique as a player is the hardest skill to master and more often then not you are born with it, and if not it is definately something you must learn at a young age or not at all. Ad's had it, you could see, his close control is fantastic.

I hope he continues to star for us this year, he weakens the left flank we can all see that but for what he gives that is forgiveable (as long as harding remains solid that is). I believe he will be here after january, but if we fail a promotion push who knows ??

Could he play at a higher level ?? Yes, IMO.

So true... but it's not just a matter of technique , keep an eye on him and it's as plain as the nose on your face that this lad works his socks off for the team as well - I sometimes think he needs to learn how to work less (like Wayne Rooney) so that he can keep something 'in the tank' as it were for the latter stages of a game .

The combination of sublime natural talent and a superb work ethic make him a cert to play at a higher level once he reaches his prime in the next few years .

What a difference a few games make -

go back 6 games and we were **** and so was adam!

lets wait till xmas b4 we judge the team or individuals - a few rubbish games early season didnt make adam a rubbish player just as a few good games last few games doesnt make him great. jury is still out and only a substained period of decent performances will change that....

A few misguided individuals thought that. The vast majority thought otherwise, I am sure. Go back six games and we were playing good football but not the finished article.

For me, he has played well for two years.

His goal against QPR last season was still better than anything he has scored since.

He has always been top class but last season he was wasted in a team playing to a flawed plan, under a flawed coach and flawed chairman.

Thankfully, all of those things have been put right and we can now see the player Adam is and always has been!

I wont debate Adams potential past 2 years, but to say he has played well for 2 years is crazy (imo) I have seen him play a dozen times past 2 years and he has always shown 'potential' but then ultimately been a disappointment.

Now either I've been unlucky and I've witnessed his only (12) bad games or my expectations are higher than yours.

He was superb last season and then was badly injured, from which he didn't really recover. But for the first six/eight games of the season before then he played really, really well in a poor, poor team.

So, yes, I think you were unlucky.

And you have already proven your expectation is too high.

I heard he punched a baby in the face whilst walking from the players lounge with his iPod on then jumped in his car and sped off whilst flicking the v's at all and sundry.

I heard this story when he was out of form though so it could be utter b::llocks...

Now he's in form though we should all worry about him leaving...cos...y'know...it's inevitable really...

Man this place is predictable...

Kelvin aside...nobody was superb last season...
