dubai_phil Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 I like this. So far this season after a shaky start it is about laying old ghosts to rest. That is what we now have the chance to do, that "turnaround in fortunes" will make it the story which the TV likes. And we will deliver. Very very nice, the final exorcism. dubai_phil Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 Mixed feelings about the FA Cup this year. Would love to have got an absolute minnow, for the laughs but really can't see the point. We should save ourselves for the league and the JPT IMO. Nah, because we'll get the Mancs again in the 3rd Round and by then, this time, we will scare the cr*p out of them. The Saturday Boy Posted 26 October, 2009 Share Posted 26 October, 2009 Depends when Sky and ITV decide which games they want. Only ITV have live rights, and are only due to show one game at the moment. Setanta shared the rights last season but I don't think anyone has taken over their half of the deal yet. Whitey Grandad Posted 26 October, 2009 Share Posted 26 October, 2009 Ugghh! I forgot they've got the FA Cup. Exactly! That's why I ask the question. It's an unexciting draw and I had been hoping for some more interesting lower-league ground but our daughter lives about 3 miles from the Memorial ground so we could make a weekend of it. I presume that it is just a choice between the Saturday and the Sunday? No Friday or Monday nights, for instance? We went there for the previous fiasco so it would be satisfying to get some revenge. Another defeat would be unthinkable .

stevegrant Posted 27 October, 2009 Share Posted 27 October, 2009 another away game moved because a small number of morons can't behave themselves..... Nope, moved because Bristol Rovers' near non-league neighbours Paulton Rovers are at home to Norwich on the Saturday in a televised game, and the OB can't/don't want to have to police two games in near proximity. ericofarabia Posted 27 October, 2009 Share Posted 27 October, 2009 Signed up ages ago to go a dinner party that night, which meant i end up missing The Happy Mondays, Ocean Colour Scene, The Courteeners and Gabriella Cilmi here in Dubai, now I'm likely to miss out on The Cup Match Commentary Might have to suggest that we adjourn back to my place after the meal and a few drinks at the hotel and sneak out to the back room and catch the commentary whilst everybody else drinks my booze supply. Will probably be steamed up anyway (starting at 6.30) and won't remember the score by the time it ends at 0200 our time

Charlton are on tv on the sunday I think so we should be a fair bit more fresh than them. They are playing some non league side while we're playing one of the best teams in our league, I reckon they will rest their key players.

You'd think they'd put the Paulton match on the Friday. I'm just guessing here, but I suspect fewer fans will be turning up to that than go to the Mem for our match. Would make it a lot easier for the OB on a Friday night when one would assume they're pretty busy anyway.

If Avon & Somerset feel that they only have the staff to do the one game per day plus be able to cover their regular duties then so be it. You may not like it, but they aren't here to please you.
